This is definitely my fav video and cracked me up.
I liked the dig at Warpcoven and I understand something brief had to be said.
But the full picture is terrorizing. As a Warpcoven player, you have many combos that make the opponent confused. You pull one of them in TP1 or TP2 and most opponents will lose their cool and get antsy because they realize they can´t predict you.
One easy combo:
- sorcerer with free mission action and warpflamer
- near an icon bearer
- with strat ploy "exalted astartes"
-then:
- moves - performs mission action - flames twice - then "Capricious plan" to dash into conceal
After doing something like that most people wander if they are playing the same edition of the game at all.
I half expected you to mention the super comms guy or the buffed auspex on Kasrkin, but mentioning reposition and that they are secretly not terrible in melee was fair
Yeah, I was very inconsitent with this list. Partly an issue with enforcing only 3 things for each faction! But with some I focused on their raw datasheet stats, with others their abilities or ploys.
Actually I thought the self imposed limitation made it more fun, led to a guessing game of which gatcha’s you were gonna select
Pathfinders: you think you’re safe from being shot by rail rifle because you’re in engagement range!! Not you’re not!!

Oh yeeeeah... I forgot about them (you know, the team I'm actually currently playing a bunch lol)
For the Intercession I would definitely mention Wrath of Vengeance as a Gotcha!
For Blooded - taking a shot on a different model than targeted, shooting into combat.
For Quins flying or 4+ inv isn't really a gotcha, just their basic stuff. On the other hand an (kind of)auto crit doing 7 wounds is, especially if you are a 7W human!

Yeah, you're right, Wrath of Vengeance. I wrote the whole thing in a day, so I definitely missed some actual gotchas of teams :(
Vet Guard can also use "In Death, Atonement" to lock an enemy in a spot where they might otherwise have freedom to shoot/do things post-fight. Ive used it in ITD to keep a couple enemies from getting through a door before
Blooded being able to shoot into an enemy in engagement range with a friendly could also count as a gotcha, since youre generally safe from shoots in engage
Great video! Content like this is always great to see, but on the topic of Fellgor Ravagers:
They can give +1" charges, chain activate after getting kills and charge you twice just like Banshees can, they have gotchas falling out of their pockets every time they move, far scarier than they seem. Definitely worth reading all their ploys if you need to play against them, because they are ALL good
Fellgor Ravagers are a great team. I certainly hope no one thinks they're not good, that would be mad!
Don’t forget the +1 crit damage! That can mess with your combat math. If you have 6 wounds remaining and they deal 5 on a crit, you might feel safe going in to take a single crit and strike back, but they can pay to prevent that.
You really undersold how bonkers the brimstone grenadier is , given that hes under the gaze of the gods - he can have +1 apl first activation because of a tac ploy , and move dash and shoot his grenade on a cluster of ennemies , killing like 4 guys without rolling a single die because of the auto crit and splash 2 !
as for hive fleet,
the genestealers can be crazy fast.
and even with 2AP they can stil do a ton because of their free dash
I have been rocking a team of 6 warriors full melee. The 1cp move and 1cp change order makes for some funky 1st and 2nd turns, especially in close quarters. 6 models with 18 hp,, +3 to hit, 4/6 crits on 5+ and gains/takes away a full attack dice in melee. They usually don't gain many points in the first 2 turns but I can usually table my opponent by turn 3 and win with secondaries.

Corsairs also have recon dash + plunderers dash + free dash + 6" normal move +grandae range so 21" threat ramge with fly for alpha strike.
Can also do a almost whole board on ITD with the leader's ga2 even through two doors: leader opens the first bomber opens the second with tac ploy and granade you.
Thay can also have +1" move from a strat if not shooting or fighting so thats 10" move range with a free dash

I know this is bespoke teams only, but a good one to be aware of is if you're playing against a compendium heretic Astartes team.
We have an ability to set up a cultist anywhere on the board as long as it's more than 6" away from enemies and 2" close to heavy terrain.
Just watch out when deploying because I've had some good fun infiltrating a flamer into a group of squishy units for some good turn 1 damage.

For me the biggest gotcha for Novitiates was Eye of the Emperor. "Everyone has pistols, I should be fine in TP1." Nope
Oh yeah, that's a fair point. Their pistols aren't good, but a great gotcha really would be moving up thinking you can't be hit at all and then get long range shot!

One comment though about wyrmblade, I believe no one really uses Quicksilver Strike with the Locus. Or at least it's very rare. I would say that the best shenanigan is ensuring Crit with Serpent ploy on a Stun gun or the Kelemorph. Due to Rending you got 2 crits ensured. Kelemorph just kills any miniature you want to be killed... before he gets himself killed afyerwards😂

One thing: on the Kroot dual activation, did you say that a hound and warrior can GA together?
Alas not, no. The Warriors are GA2 and activate together, then the Hoounds are GA2 and activate together. But if you look at the Hound's ability, it allows it to charge into melee out of its activation when next to another friendly model, so you can keep them covered from melee, so in a way they are working together.
A thought so but wanted to check 😂

I was going to actually work out the decimal of how many football fields tall I am, but of course I know nothing about football fields. In googling, I can't figure out if it's 50, 90, 100, 120, or 160 yards long... wtf guys?!
@@GlassHalfDead hahaha. The field length from the front of each endzone is 100 yards, or 300 feet, or 91 meters. Each endzone is another 9 meters, but 99.9 percent of a time an American means 100 yards for the length of a football field.
The biggest gotcha you forgot is the potential turn 1 charge with hive fleet warriors with your free move + extra movemont equipment on a small map lmao

They can still turn 1 charge you if they want to make that trade, or do an easy turn 2 dynamite. But they can only forward deploy 1 model now, and that means they can't apply nearly as much pressure and turn 1 scoring.

Cult Ambush does not work out of hiding according to faq. Great video though, loved it all.
Doesn’t work in terms of changing from conceal to engage order, but I believe it does work because they weren’t visible at the start of their activation, which is part of the new secondary condition for activating ambush.

So, I actually had to stop myself from giving advice on how to beat them. I kept swapping the viewpoint. But I figured you need to know what they do before you can know how to beat them!

I play a few teams but I still enjoy the ol' Death Guard compendium team. Anything for them?
I know that a gotcha guide can be used as a "use these things if you play the team" guide, but that's really not the purpose!
However, in the style I was writing this script, it would have just been 3 bullet points saying they will roll a 5+ on FNP every single time.
They really don't have gotchas outside of how core gameplay works. They are just very good, can take a plasma, powerfist, and fighter/gunner. Really reliable.
The +1def dice, iconbearer giving FNP rerolls, and the 2" injury ploy (4" with the equipment) are gotchas that most players dont expect to eat, given how most more-experienced players have moved onto bespoke teams before learning how to abuse these
Playing against them? Never count the exact damage you will need to kill them. If they have 10hp, you need about 13-14 dmg to kill, 16-18 dmg if iconbearer
Sorry are Grey Knights still a viable option for kill team in 2024?
Hi hi. Grey Knights are a compendium team. They are still there and legally useable! They are a 6 model team with your best loadout simply being all 6 with falchions and storm bolters.
If you have this team lying around because of 40k and want to try KT out, or you picked up the models for fun, then I say give them a good crack, you can learn the game and punish people who let you on the table!
Would I recommend a fresh player pick up GK to start KT right now? I would not, no. We're expecting the edition reset soon and we don't know what's happening with Compendium going forwards, so you might lose access to those models in 6 months.

Kill team feels so full of gotchas and imbalanced teams I'm completely put off trying it.
You're right! About gotchas. Imbalanced teams, I'd probably say less so, but I think it can definitely feel that way. Kill Team is very much not for everyone and I'm actually surprised so many people have taken to it.
I hope you are not saying this while playing 40k, which is like... way, way, way worse in that aspect. The worst killteams can beat the best killteams while there are times in 40k where some factions are sheer unbeatable and the list of gotchas is longer than the list of warcrimes commited by drukhari. Also the gotchas in killteam are easier to learn than any of that 40k nonsense.
Different people, different tastes, but gotcha-games are just bad game design in my book. If a player can hope to just out-knowledge his opponent in an increasingly convoluted game, but on a level as low as "haha, I read that one page and I win", the whole match becomes pointless.
I just wanted to provide a bit of feedback; I found the information really good but I really disliked the script! The innuendos really put me off and made me wince a bit.
That said I'm seeing lots of comments below that actually really liked the humour of the script so have to accept tastes vary, perhaps just not for everyone.
So far as the information went it was really good though, one possible change that would help is if there was a significant pause when introducing a new team as listening rather than watching it became hard sometimes to keep track when a new team was being discussed and they all flowed into one.
Anyway, please do keep making videos, if you tone down the innuendos I'd be happier but that might just be me!
Yeah, fair play. So, this type of video has been made before by others, and so me simply doing it again would be redundant. That's how this script started. A very dry reading of facts. I felt that was a pointless and boring video to make, so I then addedd dumb jokes into every section.
Normally my videos are very dry and boring, so I decided to mix it up. And unfortunately this video seems to be performing well and has a higher than average like to dislike ratio. So the feedback is a clear and consistent... more dumb jokes.
Luckily, I rarely put this much effort into a script, so the jokes will not be popping up too much. Only the regular amount, which tends to be AT MOST twice a video.
I will try and increase the dumb jokes going forwards, as the audience demands :)
@GlassHalfDead I cannot argue with the algorithm and with other people's reactions. It's not to my taste but I'd rather have a successful GlassHalfDead and more content anyway!
It might have been that I was listening while driving home from work also so that may factor in what content I was in the mood for.

This should have been a really useful video that I would happily have shared with my friends getting into Killteam but I really can’t because for some reason you’ve chosen to lean into the weird not funny overtly sexual humor which is coming off like Andrew Tate fanboyism. Maybe you’re being ironic, maybe not. Either way it was unwholesome, unfunny and not even close to relevant.
The Novitiates joke missed the mark, no doubt. Thing is, the idea of genuinely calling somethig "woke" is absolutely hilarious, that it could only ever be said ironically to make fun of people who think "woke" is an actual complaint.
Tate is a cancer on the world who's misogyny will hurt thousands of women, and the faster he is unalived the better. Making a few dick jokes does not mean I like that tumour. But I do understand that in this day and age we're very polarised, and better to be on the safe side and dislike anyone who might be a fan of him.
