Paul Kariya's full induction speech into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Credit: NHL Network. 11/13/17. Visit www.DucksNPucks.com for more on the Anaheim Ducks!
If he played in today's NHL - no hitting, no clutching, no stick work, no NZ Trap........he would have topped 1500 points in his career. He was super talented. Just played in the wrong era when it was a tougher, harder hitting game than it is today.
we can only imagine what he would accomplish today, now that the NHL plays a more open speed game, and not the clutch and grab, dead puck, dump-and-chase late- hitting style of his time.
@@chubbz5150ify Agreed. His skills would transfer very well to this generation. Imagine Kariya feeding Auston Matthews pucks. Or Kariya and McDavid dancing around everyone. It would be absolutely devastating for the opposition.
one of the all time greats and my favorite player of all time. I wrote him a letter as a 14 year old in Washington DC. He responded with a hand-written letter and a signed rookie card. I still have it framed in my room. And I wear my Paul Kariya Anaheim Ducks captain jersey with pride, wherever I go. I'm sure people think I sometimes look stupid wearing that jersey around, that I'm now a father of two half-Japanese children myself, but I wear it to honor one of the all time greats from my life and childhood. Bless you, Paul Kariya, and thank you for all the memories and everything you did for me
Amazing to see this man active in the community again! Congrats Paul you were an absolute privilege to watch. You taught us smaller guys how we could make this sport work for us. Thank you for showing hockey players what “composure” truly means!
As the son of an 18-month old, I can only imagine how proud his mother, and family, are sitting there, seeing their humble son inducted into the hall. Wow, what a moment for a parent!!
I remember being 7 in 2000 having my only mighty ducks shirt i took care of that thing because it was my only nhl jersey and in the back was paul kariyas name... i was the only kid in school with a hockey jersey
I think I took it for granted how excellent he was. I'm on the east coast, so don't get to see enough west coast games. Wow, those highlights are beautiful. As much as we project onto pro athletes who we have never met, have to say that Paul seems like a genuinely wonderful, spirited human being. Somehow hockey seems to remain just enough out of the spotlight (at least in the U.S.) that the players seem so much more grounded and genuine than other top pro athletes in other sports. Just an opinion. But the vast majority of even NHLers just seem like regular guys who happen to be extremely dedicated and skilled. Also, was he a captain as a freshman at Maine? That is crazy, if so.
What you are noticing is the Canadian in him and other hockey players. We are a peacekeeping nation and that trait shows up in our nature. Modest, humble, put others before yourself.
It might get lost given the others mentioned in Paul’s thank you a but Grant Standbrook is truly a fantastic hockey mind. Having him as a contact during my days as a columnist covering the Maine Black Bears I cannot stress what a caring and valuable resource he was whenever I need insight or context into the team, despite not having been a part of the hockey operations for a few years at that point.
CONGRATULATIONS Paul and Val!!! What an amazing honor! You are the epitome of the HHF and your focus and commitment may never be matched!! Thank you for teaching me to use the LEFT during our Ping Pong matches at Christmas. I have already started to instill this trait in Miles. BTW... If you ever need me to parallel park for you, just call me! #HHF #focus #commitment #mindovermatter #usetheoffhand #Duckshockey
Just give the greatest thanks to Jesus Christ 'n He really I mean seriously wants to save u too. Actually He loves u so much amen. God Bless:D P.s. 8:30 what's the next life?! Teemu 'n Paul 'n so on; without John 14:6 you ARE NOT GOING TO HEAVEN please 'n peace. Maranatha!

"we will always be brothers. In this life and the next"
Damn onions
Classy, humble guy, great speech. Well deserved HOFamer. Honor to watch him through his career. Congratulations Paul.
My favourite player ever! He’s the reason I always wore # 9 playing hockey
The best Captain my Ducks ever had. Thank you Paul for your dedication.
One of the most underrated forwards ever. His numbers would have been staggering during the ''Live Puck Era" (1979-1993)!!!!
I love the fact he acknowledged Rucchin.
One of the greatest talents ever to lace em up. Nobody made hockey look quite as beautiful the way he played
we can only imagine what he would accomplish today, now that the NHL plays a more open speed game, and not the clutch and grab, dead puck, dump-and-chase late- hitting style of his time.
P.S. I always admired him for going international and playing for Canada when big money was waiting for him in the NHL.
He'd be right up there at the top. One tough player and definitely would be a multiple Stanley Cup winner.

What a great player and humble great person.
"off the floor, on the board!"
One of the best calls ever. One Maine alum making the call about another.

Great! Paul is the best
What a gracious speech. As he was as a player.
Perhaps the 2nd best smaller player I ever saw next to Pavel Datsyuk. All class and grace.
Lanny, still rockin' that stash1
Greatest Minneapolis High School Boys Hockey commentator in history, Paul Kariya.
From hockey to the big screen...I loved him in John Wick
Which one and what scene ?
You remember when Paul was in the Matrix? And he stopped that bus in Speed?? Man Paul was good
Paul’s the best

You're the son of an 18-month-old?
There's gotta be a few biological firsts in that story.
@@patharty7507 I hope he meant dad of
@@ChrisHayworth100 I never heard back. Guess we'll never know.
@@patharty7507 maybe at 18 months he's a bit young to type.

A class guy who put the State of Maine back on the map and raised the bar of how the game could be played
From the thumbnail, I was like "wow... Kariya really aged"
A true gentlemen....

Try not to cry, trynot to cry.... awww fuck
My third favorite player of all time behind Teemu and Foresborg. He'd be second if only Him and Teemu could have played together for longer.
Foresborg?? SMH -.- It's FORSBERG!!!!
Nobody will ever wear number 9 again. Paul made that number special. I'm sorry Bobby Ryan. You tried.
There was never more of a victim in the history of the NHL, than Paul Kariya.
6:54 The Anaheim [Mighty] Ducks. Kinda like that name change.
U Maine Shaun Walsh Best Head Coach in NCAA History, Coached the Greatest College team ever !!! 1993
So disappointed this video isn't better quality

Scott Stevens sitting some where in that crowed licking his lips
jay bino fuck that piece of shit
More like spitting on the floor. Like he did when Kariya returned on the ice after the infamous hit.
They actually played together during the HOF classic and sat next to eachother on the bench.
n scored a goal
Even though hes a champ because of Brodeur, Steven's was a piece of shit as well as claude lemieux
You video tape it on a tv
Image if Scott Stevens presented him the plaque LMAO
Enio Sacilotto gets a nod! Enio is a great coach and should be a head coach in the WHL or NHL
Maybe he doesn’t want that?
Imagine if Scott STEVENS presented that plaque
Did Selanne have his speech too?
Yes just posted it. NHL Network had technical difficulties when it first aired.
His partner is smoking, well done PK
Says he was proud to play for Nashville but not Anaheim? WTF.
Why would anyone be proud to play for that joke Disney franchise?
Bob Meyer troll . Get the fuck outta here

Bob Meyer because I can comprehend words and you can't ok. Get lost
