I don’t see how anyone could say Usman was anywhere near GSP, he only defended his title against 3 different people.
That's because Usman had a longer road to the title fighting better competition.
Yes, that's one of the biggest weaknesses about Usman's long, dominant reign: he fought a very narrow pool of fighters... just 5 different guys (Leon, Burns, Jorge, Colby, and Woodley).
GSP, on the other hand, fought as the Weasel just read, around 12 different people, from the time he fights for the belt to the time he left MMA (which was after he choked "big man" Bisping unconscious, partly for calling him "a little man")...

In order to be the greatest you have to ADAPT. In every single Belal fight, Belal doesn't adapt when things don't go to plan, he sticks to the same gameplan. Lucky for him, none of his opponents have been able to break him out of this. Vicente? Maia? Wonderboy? One-Armed Gilbert? Lima? Sean Brady? None of these guys will take him out of his comfort zone. Kamaru, Colby, Leon, Shavkhat? Maybe even Geoff Neal in a rematch(Geoff won the first time by decision). Those are examples of matchups that bring down this imaginary GOAT discussion.
Excellent point. The greatest part of mma is how many different phases of combat are on the table and at the highest level these guys are good at all of them. The ability to mentally and physically switch between the phases to win fights is what makes the superstars stick out... and Belal indeed hasn't shown any ability to do that.
Any time a ufc fighter says something that makes you upset and gets people talking about him, consider that maybe that's the real reason he said it.
