  • Penny's 720 part is definitely a throwback. All this footage comes from the UK in the early 1990's.

Amazing. Had the pleasure of watching him skate a few times in Leamington Spa during this era. Unforgettable.

Here's an early Tom penny story, to go with the early footage here. I believe it was the same year as this footage, 92.
I was from England so already was aware of this incredible talent. Anyway, it was at the world championships that was held in munster, Germany. Outside the arena there was a few obstacles for street and a good sized mini ramp. Could be described as a midi. Imagine an unknown skater, to usa and Europe at least, getting on the mini ramp and skating at least as good as in this footage, if not better. He shut the ramp down pretty much. He destroyed it, and people's jaws hit the floor. He was a little kid, completely unknown in huge baggy clothes already at a level that many pros weren't at. I don't think he was on flip yet even, or deathbox as it was back then. Even at that early stage, he was probably one of the best mini ramp skaters in the world. Bare in mind, on the same trip, I skated a mini with Chet Thomas and Frank hirata who were both great ramp skaters.

A Tom Penny part with no fs flips. This part is so sick.
