When all these modern space cars are 20-30 years old... none of these buttons will light up or work. Going to be a nightmare
The design will also look like trash.
Just feel sorry for the poor devil who has to work on it. I'd love to know how long it'd take to change the plugs....
Replacement parts will be extremely hard to find.
My guess it won’t take that long. These”Supercar” manufacturers had a very poor component longevity record when their cars were simple compared to now. Getting so-there are no mechanics anymore just techno folks.
@@alexbrown1995 As usual-the guy that designs them doesn’t work on them. Has no idea what a “Flat Rate” is…
"Lets give it 23" wheels with little tire and large rims but engineer a super suspension for maximum comfort"
“hey it’s gotta look good”
Such is the state of car industry at the moment.
it needs the huge wheels since its a crossover and if they went smaller then made the tyres bigger to compensate it wouldnt look "sporty". its a shame they just put massive wheels and a lift kit on a gtc4 lusso instead of making a proper suv
@@banana-ui2qd everything is bespoke
not a crossover
Go drive a Lusso. If the suspension is set up to deal with the suspension and weight, it's fine.
@Visionist hahahagaggagahahahahahhahahahaha no, it is not bespoke bro 🤦♂️
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride Harry. It has been most enjoyable. Excellent work. Thanks to the rest of your crew too who helped make it.
Many thanks for sharing this Part 4 Lotus Emira YT video Harry. I've really enjoyed the whole journey, especially the wonderful views in Part 2, the factory visits to Pagani & now Ferrari (both very interesting, even though the featured new models are way out of my league!) in Parts 3 & 4, which gave me a fascinating insight into the philosophies & technical innovations that both manufacturers are producing for their Utopia & Purosangue cars. The Lotus must be fully run in by now, so hope you get to enjoy the cars performance on the way back!
It's a good looking car. I don't like forward control cars much, this one is more balanced.
the 1cm clearance of the rim to the road says it all for this target audience.
Unmarried, no children, and 10th SUV in their collection?

One pothole can kill 4 tyres. People have had similar issues with Teslas. Hopefully they will have higher tyres as an option
I love your slightly hushed, respectful tone whilst reporting from one one of the great cathedrals of the automotive world. Like you were in church. Well done as always. Many thanks.
Funny how the Emira pulling out of the gates (and it would be even more so if it were red) looks very much like a Ferrari design which is, of course, not a bad thing in any way shape or form! Loving the tour. Exceptional videos.
Lies again? Final Year Project
And itt looks better than the mid engine ferraris they make now.
@@surelles debatalbe, looks better than the F8? Maybe. 296? No, IMO the 296 is gorgeous.
Awesome!
No one describes a car like you do Harry!😊
What a fabulous Ferrari!
Thanks a million!❤
Namaste!!!!
Hitting a pothole with those low profile tires where I live would result in a puncture. Too many fiddly electronics for my liking. It looks like you’d have to get to a sub menu for some operations in that middle button. Personally I prefer dials and knobs as they are less distracting. Still looks pretty though.
It has 3.5 inch sidewalls, looks smaller due to the huge rims
Takes me back! I built the Ferrari Data Centre for their IT & wind tunnel CFD servers just opposite that entrance! We had a great afternoon being shown around the manufacturing facility!
Must go back again to visit! It’s been 20 years!

Love the description of how it smooths out potholes. Decades ago, inspired by those low riders with adjustable suspension hight, I had an idea for exactly thus type of system to smooth out speed bumps. Not because I want to go fast over them, but because some are so vicious that you have to do about 3 mph or else wreck your rubber bushes. I am amazed how many people drive over the vicious ones at 20 mph or more. Wouldn't like their repair bills.
By far the best PUROSANGUE review on CZcams since it's launch. Congrate and thank you Harry.
"They thought about the rear passenger", try opening those doors in a parking space and getting front and rear passengers out!
Edit: actually not as bad as an i3 (nightmare) since doors open independently
I'm surprised that Ferrari didn't have the Lotus towed and crushed whilst you were inside! :0)
I knew a joke like this was going to be here. And I totally agree. XD
Polite of them to leave it alone.
I can’t help but think they would quietly appreciate it.
👍👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍
I'm surprised the lotus didn't need towing!
Great review, beautiful Ferrari with a very high tech feel to it. Thank you! I really appreciate the detail in your review of it. Let's get some track time and some times please.
Interesting about the rear window . The Citroën CX had a concave rear window to avoid the use of a rear wiper.
Spectacular...amount of things to go wrong.
does it matter at this price point especially when you consider technology needs to move forward, breaking your ground as companies like this or known for?
Pardon- breaking new ground…
@@claudiomarangone614 Depends if you're happy to have your car always being fixed, I suppose. But then if you buy one of these, it's not going to be your only car...
@@claudiomarangone614 yes it does matter, the amount of people that have had their new ferrari in the shop for soo much of their ownership time isn't fun, having the money for it to not be an issue financially still doesn't solve the fact the car will not be useable till it's fixed.
especially if you dont drive a car loaded with electrics much. it falls apart too

Thank you for your pleasant, factual information. I haven't heard anything about the suspension on other channels. That was new and interesting information. Your channel lives enthusiasm for cars without being flashy or pushy. Very British in the best sense. Greetings from Germany.
Great series of videos. Very much enjoyed.
Practically, affordability, environmentally, etc etc etc etc, what a work of art.
Thanks Harry, was looking forward to this one and made for great viewing. Appreciate you making these videos during your tour where time can be so precious and not just for you!
Tiny tyres look a bit silly. The odd size wheels seem to look comically different too even though its only an inch difference
Came here to say this. Tyres ruin the styling for me
Imagine what the tyres cost.
The wheels and tires look way too small for this SUV. They need to develop 25 inch rims tires that have tall sidewalls for comfort.
@@jimj2683 Its not an SUV apparently 😂
Loved the review as always very detailed just wish you would have driven it. My only thing is I wish they did have a roof rail so that a roof rack could've been fitted. Guys now roll around with ski racks in the summer just for the look. It would have shown that ferrari is at least in Clouds instead of the stratosphere when it comes to practically.
This electric suspension system reminds of Bose's suspension system developed some 30+ years ago and which they showcased in a Lexus LS400, you can find a video of it here on youtube.
It's an evolution of the Multimatic used on the current Ford GT. Nothing old about it.
One if the rare Harry’s Garage videos I didn’t watch to the end. I remember an encounter with a Maserati SUV owner: “You could have bought a cool car with that money. Or donate it.” However I had to add it was a really nice color.
If that hits a pothole the shocks will be the last thing you will need to worry about
what will you need to worry about?
Wait till "the electrical gremlins " start in that suspension ?🙄
@@edombre4637 the 23" wheels being curbed to toss, with a £10k bill for replacement if they crack
@@S.ASmith Yep. There isn't much sidewall on those tires. At well over 2000kg in weight, you hit a sharp pothole in this thing - your rim will be DESTROYED. Sorry, electric motors with gears in your suspension are nowhere near quick enough to save it, no matter how many times per second it "adjusts" - it can't MOVE the giant wheel fast enough any significant distance. Physically impossible.
@@edombre4637 I wonder? 🤣
Amazing video and access as ever. I'm not sure I agree they 'thought about the rear passengers' seeing as the window next to a rear passengers head is about the size of a miniature porthole 😂 cant imagine it being very enjoyable sort of trapped in the darkness
Excellent episode, a real return to form.
The design and the idea of how you might use it really makes sense to me. And happy to accept that it’s more Panamera sector than Urus sector.
"sector"

As always, a superb video Harry 👏- the crew at Top Gear could do well to do features like this. It's great to get an "under the skin" tour of these beautiful machines and appreciate the clever engineering 👍
Top gear has its audience, thankfully us followers of Harry aren't it 😎
@@paulbarber1960 Yes, they can amuse themselves with their (IMHO purile) formulaic humour and and leave the real car viewing to the rest of us. 🙂
Thanks for explaining all those details. What a stunningly beautiful SUV.
Hey Har, if Enzo came back he’d close the factory and fire everyone. What’s next, a Ferrari party bus?
Actually Enzo was a big fan of 2+2 comfortable cars. He was rarely seen in sports cars. He would choose a 400i over a Daytona. I'm sure he would like it.
Mid week treats from THE BEST car journalist on the planet….. fantastic ….and this Ferrari is TOP of the list on SUV’s ….. my first impression front end … a raised Ferrari Roma …. Beautiful vehicle…..
How to spec a car like this with all those options?! 🤯🤑
Your Emira looks like a Ferrari! 😁 Thanks for the tour Harry! 👍
A thought just occurred to me. It was Lotus who were developing hydraulic active suspension systems about 35 years ago with rams that did away with anti-roll bars. So it's sort of fitting that Harry talked about Ferrari's active suspension system after turning up in a Lotus!
Older folk such as me will of course remember LJK Setright's disdain for suspension engineering that included the use of anti-roll bars, seeing them as crude torsion bars linking the sides together that prevented them from being truly independent.
Wasn't LJK wonderful. I always wondered whether he kept Bristol afloat. His tutorials on suspension were so good, often crying out that manufacturers ignored the importance of the tyre sidewall with the much lower aspect ratios screwing the ride.
Ram powered Active Suspension complete with a stability-agility computer system driven 4WS system, was a feature of the 1993 Toyota Soarer UZZ32.
This is not to be confused with the UZZ31 Soarer that was fitted with multi height air suspension and multi-mode computer driven dampers.
The poverty pack of the Soarer, the UZZ30 with conventional springs and dampers, and sans the touch screen electronics (crt touchscteen) was sold in the US as the Lexus SC400.
In testing the grand lux UZZ31, despite its embarrassingly modest tyres, could pull steady state G's higher than its contemporary, the factory special Ferrari F-40 hypercar
Approximately 1,600 UZZ32's were made, and when new sold for twice the price of a high end S-Class Mercedes.
Hydraulic ram system, as applied to the Citroën Xantia Activa in 1995, was a natural extension of that car's suspension, so it's not as out-of-reach an idea as some make out. Physically speaking, if you saw an Activa next to a regular Xantia you'd notice they had many subtle differences - apart, you'd swear they were identical! My dad ran a Citroën service dealer at the time, and their sales partner garage had an Activa - it's right up with my favourite Citroëns of all time.
Ahhh ......... LJK Setright! There's a name to forget. Yep - Chapman and Lotus, what a combination and I wonder what Colin would have made of such a vehicle as the one above.
@@examinerian That's another one of many Citroens I wish I had owned. The Xantia is criminally underrated.
Love that you parked a Lotus in their car park !!
That Lotus looks good value.
Absolutely is. Lotuses of all types have skyrocketed in price since the Emira's launch though
Thanks! Such fun that the exterior is original when the plant next door is so futuristic. Do they have a child seat? Separately, any hope for your take on a Plaid S now that they're available?
Great video Harry 😀
This car makes me love my simple old Toyota even more than I already do.
Same here.

The all-new 2024 Toyota Camry hybrid luxury model will be very nice
Maybe you write like this because you can only afford the "simple old toyota"....
@@s1lv3rr he's trying to tell you he just doesn't like the design, just like the other comments you replied to, it's really not that difficult.
Extraordinary effort ❤
This isn't for me, but I can respect how they manage it to still look distinctly Ferrari, and have reduced the visual heft with the carbon
Beautiful! Love the "gated" switching and with all the controls moving screens have they finally eliminated the dreaded sticky switch syndrome?
Excellent, thanks Harry. Looks great. I'd still need my Range Rover and the proper Ferrari for fun days, but I'm sure it will work for some.
Harry is next level compared to other CZcamsrs, true journalist
And he comes across as a true gentleman
Difference between someone who is professionally trained versus random guy picking up a camera
Well he's literally a journalist, very hard for others to compare to him. You are going up against a man that owned one of the top automotive magazines, that's a near impossible task to overcome.
No "What's up guys!"
He's the editor of Evo, so you'd pretty much expect him to be knowledgable and professional. Not like certain influencers who in many ways, don't know what they're talking about
Great video thanks. That’s a lovely styled car; I didn’t think they could pull it off but they have. I think it stands alone in that market sector. It will sell very well.
Great first close look at the Ferrari Purosangue Harry.
One little detail you got wrong is that the accessory belt drive and parts like water pump, Alternator, A/C compressor , power steering pump tensioner pullies etc... they are on the front of the engine at the radiator or front bumper of the car not right up against the firewall like you said. I have see the engine and 3-D color views of how it sits in the car and the accessory drive parts above the front gearbox are at the front of the engine, not against the firewall like a SAAB 900.
Wonderful innovation...the adaptive suspension...kinda like the Citroen from 1955 to 2012
That suspension leveling thingy for counteracting cornering force seems similar in effect to the Land Rover (BMW era) Discovery II Td5 I bought in 1999. I think it's marketing name was HCE.
I recall that, for a very heavy and tall car, it made the car very capable of taking corners that seemed way beyond expectations.
Super impressed with this trip so far..a trip of a life time for ordinary mortals like me..Must have taken some time to plan ..thanks Harry
hopefully one day you can plan a week in Bologna! trust me there's a lot to see and visit even without the connections of Harry. Factories of Pagani, Lamborghini, Ducati and more open to public along the year. For Ferrari you probably need to settle with the 2 museums they have.
I agree. It’s been fascinating 👍
It certainly "is" something. Off warranty I'd be terrified.
What do replacement wheels and tires cost I wonder.
If Enzo were alive he'd be asking you to show him your Emira... After he fired all who made that thing.
But, a superb video as always. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Harry.
Enzo famously liked front engined GT cars best and cared about them most
Both Lambo and Ferrari started off with front engined GT cars lmao.
These made more sense than the rear mid engined rocketships that can't do things a GT can do.
Alway great to have a new video from Harry. The Purosangue is definitely an engineering marvel, and it may look better in the "flesh", so to speak, but my very first thought was "pregnant guppy". I'm not a designer, so I'm probably not qualified to comment (but I will anyway), but to my eye the aesthetics look all over the place. Most SUVs from high end sports car companies are hideous because they try to merge the DNA of their brand with what is basically an oversized hatchback (anyone guess that I hate SUVs?).
Nice trip but needed more feedback on the Emira in each part IMO
Great point. It should be very much more about the Lotus rather than just marketing cars for oligarchs.
The lotus is overhyped trash. Vague steering, too wide, sounds meh, low rpms, low power, not that great steering feedback etc. Buy a porsche gt4 rs instead...

It's so practical, great to have around the farm for a couple of months
The fact that this thing has a naturally aspirated V12 when both the SF90 and 296 are turbo hybrids is such a middle finger to everybody. Love it.
I'm sure they will make the middle touch button more responsive, it looked wobbly when Harry tried to get other functions. I think rotary encoders are much better than small touch screens in a car.
Harry not trying to say SUV is the funniest bit of this video
I think you mean: "trying to not say SUV".
Interesting video, explained very clearly. The new Ferrary is fabulous, nothing else to add.
Excellent report … a masterful piece of understatement
Thanks Harry for taking us on this privileged tour. The amount of innovation that Ferrari brings is astounding. That is what being in F1 for a long time does.
Except it has been a long time since Ferrari won any championships in F1.

Another great addition to this tour -a very interesting look around the car. Sounds like a lot of things to go wrong but impressive if they manage to be reliable. Price? Silly, but nothing new there.
Excellent ....Thank you so much Harry
Rear proportions look off to me… maybe it looks better in real life…
Maybe if they stretched the rear 3/4 a little more it’d look better, also provide a little more rear passenger room too, the legroom looks a bit tight. Just my opinion, probably looks great in the metal.
Looks more like an evolution of a GTC4 Lusso, as long as its got a V12 and not a Twin Turbo V8 like everyone else it should remain special...
9:26 Ive always wondered if some a motorized screw like that would be possible and this looks like real innovation. But it needs all the sensors and programms to run right, probably also some mild- hybrid 48V system to power this all. When the cars goes over a short pothole it should keep the wheel up to not fall in. I hope Harry gets one in for testing on his " special bumpy road" :)
Wheel needs to go down into the hole then retract as it come up the other side. That’s how you keep the car level.
I agree about the GTC4 Lusso, especially the rear
The innovation in the Purosangue is admirable, and there is a good chance that many the innovations will eventually make their way into future Ferraris
pretty sure it is a gt4c lusso with 23 inch wheels and a 2 inch lift kit, its a shame that ferrari are such cheapskates and didnt make a proper car. this cross-over looks terrible, atleast it has a v12 though

I can think of a lot of things to say about that car. "Gamechanger" would be the last word I'd use to describe it lol.
That dark wheel arch on red body is pure Daihatsu Terios 👌
RIP to those servicing these in the future. Congratulations to the bosses though
RIP?
I saw one in London last week and was shocked to see how big it was!
Nah.
Another great video. I must say I think the Purosangue looks very impressive.
Speaking only of the exterior design - it's interesting that they've basically made a taller (but much less usable) Mazda 3 Hatchback. Lots of cool tech going on though. The interior is very impressive. If given the choice, I'd probably still go for the Urus as it's more capable overall and a 100k less price.
Love these videos of your trip. The front of the new car looks like someone took 2 normal cars, stacked them on top of one another and smushed them together!
With the amount of room in front of the engine, fitting an electric motor to drive the front wheels instead of the front gearbox would be great. EV mode fwd is perfect for that slow city motoring, especially in cities where ICE are restricted or banned. V12 ICE rwd for that dynamic open road run. Combined for normal eco running and slippery conditions. Amg's 6 kw battery is very compact.
Great to see Harry (and his terrific reviews (love the new Lotus, especially the color combo) squish into that back seat. I don't get this Purosangue at 400+G. Too much to cover that I just don't get. I am sure it's a technological tour d' force, but...Sorry. Thanks, Harry.
What a treat from the best online car journalist! Thank you Harry.
Any chance you'll be telling us how the Lotus Emira is doing?
I bet Ferrari's marketing department were monitoring this video, and that's why the video title doesn't say 'SUV'. I'm surprised they let him drive an Emira into their facility.
@@MathsYknow It’s a completely different world in super car manufacturing. They know most of their customer base will have multiple cars from all different manufacturers.

That opening shot of the Ferrari front door.....where magic happens.
Pretty safe to predict that this will be the best-selling Ferrari four-door ever, and they're probably wondering why it took them so long to sanction it, but it was clearly worth the wait.
I should imagine that much like Porsche, this car will generate most of Ferrari's profits going forward, despite the high price tag.
I believe Ferrari needed to enter this segment.
This example is breath taking 👍
Best selling? Less than 2000 will be made and they have been sold out for over 5 months.

Yeah@@AB-80X but it's also the first 4 door Ferrari ever, so he's technically correct
@@adrian5b
How does that technically make what he states correct? It is not their best-seller, it is not a car that will take up a large portion of their sales, and it is not a car that will be made redeably available for the masses. He is dead wrong on all points.
it was a joke because it's the only 4 door they've ever made. The original comment reads "best selling four door ferrari ever made"@@AB-80X
I can’t imagine how much servicing this vehicle will cost with the engine pushed back so far and the unique suspension. Nevertheless, I think they have a real winner here!
I won't cost anything actually. Every Ferrari is sold with 7 years of free maintenance. (but in the 8th year, jeez)
the owners of these vehicles will not worry about little details like that
Need spark plugs? thats an engine out job 😆
I wonder if most buyers just want the badge and would actually prefer a 2WD hybrid V6 powertrain, or a pure EV / 3cyl diesel if Ferrari offered that!
Actually daily-driving this vehicle would incur some serious costs - it's a 2-tonne 4WD n/a V12 with presumably bespoke supercar tyres. They staggered the wheel sizes by one inch just to maximise tyre revenue. ;)
You must be worried about the fuel consumption too, or how much the tires cost lmao
Great Vid. I'm surprised they didn't make you put tape on the Lotus Badge!
Harry's, I love your program.
