Saw the film yesterday, I’m a 27 yr old guy living in a city in Canada. I walked in to the theater thinking there will be nothing in the film that I could relate to, I mean a remote Irish island in 1925. But boy I found a little bit of myself in all the characters, like they were holding up a mirror to my face. Kind of a movie that grows on you slowly.
Hey, I’m a 27yr old woman living in a Canadian city as well, and I saw myself a lot in Padraig, Colm and Siobhan. This is really good filmmaking, how local it is and yet how global it goes
I am a 38 yr old guy living in a city in Germany amd I want to see the movie now. 🤣
And I watched this on New Year’s Eve with MY 27 year old daughter and we both were amazed at how well the story was told, and how invested in the characters we both were. It was laugh out loud funny, sweet, but then became as dark as you can get. It’s such a simple premise but you’re glued to the screen. It should be ranked right up there in the best of the best films of the year. Wow!
Heey lads. I'm also 27yo. Live in the middle of middleasian mountains. I found this film incredible. A bit better and deeper than Bruge. About all aspects of life. Proud, friendship, existential crisis, lost potential, boring etc. 1000% recommended!
The story was set in 1923
Nobody should overlook Barry Keoghan's performance also.
He was incredible as well! And he petitioned McDonough for the part -- look for his interview online.
I agree! In fact, his two minute scene as Dominic asking Siobhán if she could love him is one of the films best moments. When he softly says, " Well, there goes that dream, " it's heartbreaking.
Kerry Condon's performance aswell she was incredible!
He was brilliant
Everyone is good but these 2 are extraordinary
I hope Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson make more movies together.
In Bruges is a classic!
@Art Lover - I agree as I just watched it again before I sit down to watch Banshees in the next few days. So many great moments in the move (In Bruges).
Well, Brandon is 67 so they better get on it.
I f......kin hope NOT
In Bruges is one of my favourite movies. I'm excited to see Colin and Brendan acting together again.
Same!
I worked at a dvd-store back in 2008. I remember taking it home for a spin yeah. I mean, of course. I'm belgian and I even lived in Bruges, but in 2014...
Fantastic film. I never warmed to Colin until I saw In Bruges. He gave a wonderful performance .
Same!!!
Fockin fairytale city
Love when Colin gets his Irish accent fully back.❤️ Sometimes when he gets around americans it gets toned down. This is just a lovely melody in my ear
For sure, also how fast he talks and of course talking over one another.
It’s very obvious Colin has been partaking in some of Perus finest. His speaking over and general mannerisms are of a man that is fully ‘charged’
He never talked like that. It's a very western dialect you hear in Connaght or Munster...he is from a part with a less thick brogue.
@@sarahharris2729 He is from middle class Dublin. His less thick/easier for foreigners to understand brogue is from middle class people. They all sound very similar despite the place they live in.
Who cares about his accent? 😂 He is hoooot 🔥
"Give us a hug!" They are adorable! 💖
For a small country, it is amazing the Irish have produced so many creative people ---Joyce, Yeats, Wilde, Beckett, etc
@Laurence O'Connor did you take a nap in 1850 and wake up now
@@juicebox5883 😂well said
I’m Irish and I think it was because our lives are all about socialising and talking. 😳Unfortunately I think screens are ruining all good conversations now🤷♀️🤯
They both sound more Irish together than when they are interviewed separately. Love these guys.
Oh! Very much heart touching feedback thank you so much for your support and prayers to my career 🌹 where are you watching from?
Colin Farrell delivers a performance for the ages! Brilliant! The rest of the cast creates a world that is difficult to leave! A wonderful movie, and a 15 minute standing ovation seems quite short!🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

So excited to see these two finally become Oscar nominees next year. It’s overdue 🥰
Way way fn fn fn overdue specially for Mr Gleason
This is my favorite movie of 2022.
I'm a 40 year old from Alabama.
The saddens and loss I've experienced the last 2 years made this movie so relatable.
As a nurse with a dark sense of humor it was perfect too.
Something special about the Irish
I never get tired of listening to Irish accents, they always sound like they're asking a question even when they're not; they have such a nice lilt in their voices
when I moved to NY first, I had no idea that I was doing this until someone pointed it out to me.
Love the accent. I want to go there. Friend’s ask why? I’m not Irish, I just want to go there. Cause it’s beautiful.🙂
@@Sharyk808 come - you won’t be disappointed!!! I’m biased but the most beautiful country in the world 🥰☘️🇮🇪
@@DerryK67 I was thinking feb, may or June. What’s the best time to come? It will depend on cost. I want to avoid your tourist high season. What would that be?
@@Sharyk808 summer months of June, July and August would be tourist season, June would be the cheapest time out of these months, don’t be expecting summer weather!!! You MAY get summer weather but you could also get 4 seasons of weather in one day🤣 so bring rainwear, jumpers(sweaters), t-shirts and sunglasses and most importantly an umbrella ☔️ it rains a lot here🤪Also to come around March 17th St Patrick’s day would probably be expensive also. Don’t just stick to Dublin as I see some tourists do, they fly into Dublin, stay there and fly back out again. Spend 2 days in Dublin and then head to the west coast, Mayo, Galway, Aran Islands, Clare, Kerry, west Cork - stunning scenery. Fly into Dublin out of Shannon. Do your research and if/when you come - enjoy 😊
Such a complex, at times quirky and ultimately painful movie about how hurting people hurt people. The island scenery is beautiful, just as well really as it's a brutal movie and the acting is sublime
💯

Seeing them together instantly made me think of In Bruges. I love that movie.
I saw "Banshees" at the cinema on Friday evening - came home and rewatched "In Bruges" again. Fabulous!
Colin's character in the clip reminds me of myself, during my entire life.
😂
I’m surprised no one has ever written a script with these two and Pierce Brosnan as brothers. All are fine Irish actors who I feel would work v well together.

I have driven past Brendan Gleeson in Country Clare in Ireland near Kinvara village. He was walking along the road with I believe his wife, holding a fiddle in one hand which he sometimes plays in pubs. I saluted him and he saluted me back. I knew it was him straight away.
I could listen to these two talk all day. Not (just) because they're interesting, but because their Irish accents are just so mellifluous. Maybe I'll just wait for the audiobook version of the movie. 🍀
Mellifluous. Thanks for the new word!
@@pranjoshi I second this! Thank you!
Irish people are just so wonderful.
I also love people who speak with an accent. Many times it means they know a second language… Their native language and English… I only know English so I’m very jealous.
Look up Aisling Bee. Her standup set at Live at the Apollo is so funny! I have a total girl crush on her! Also check out the three lovely, talented and very funny Irish lads from Foil Arms and Hog ❤

Awwwwn 🥰...... I'm so excited seeing your beautiful and mind blowing comment and I also want to tell you that I appreciate all your unending support 💖...... Where are you watching from?
I NEED to see this movie, because these two are GLORIOUS!!!!
The Irish always had a way with words. The way they structure their sentences. They don't use hard words, but just simple, everyday words but end up saying something something profound. I noticed it in every interview I saw of Colin Farrell and I notice it with Brendon Gleeson here.
It's probably because English isn't their original language. Irish people treat the English language in a different way to the English because it used to be the second language until everyone was fluent.
Our sentence structure is due to the Irish language so we have Hiberno English as a spoken dialect
When I was in school, some Irish travelers joined our group of friends (for a few weeks). And I still, all these years later, remember his description of Guinness in the right part of Ireland vs. everywhere else. At the end he said, "It's like an angel dancin' on me tongue." (Imagine an Irishman, complete with accent, and with an enraptured expression on his face.) And that's just one example. 😂😂😂😁
The Irish? When people makes such lazy, sweeping statements, it’s so inaccurate. There is no such thing as the ‘irish’; it’s just a conceptual construction. All irish are different and if you take a sample of just hundred people living in Ireland, you will discover a range of diverse and highly complex individuals of every variation imaginable. Statements starting with ‘Black people’ or ‘Christians’ or ‘Muslims’ or whatever is just wrong. I suggest you buy a microscope.

The Banshees of Inisherin with Colin and Brendan is one of the most gloriously Irish things that can possibly exist. The only duo that could be more Irish is those two Irish lads who won Olympic medals for rowing a few years ago.
Hahahaa I remember them! They are class. And so funny 😆
They are actually middle class. Middle class people all over the world are still committing far worse oppression than racism and sexism against adult women celebs combined. They get More pay for doing Less work or none at all while the working class are given the least pay for doing the most unwanted jobs/tasks.
The middle class don't have the accent sound of the country as they are thought to speak and act differently to the majority of people of their countries. The least Irish people are upper and middle class people. That goes for other cultures.

I love the way the Irish say feck...it makes it seem like not such a harsh word.
It isnt, its not a curse word. There are none in irish. Its an irish word but english speaking people think of the other f word when they hear it. If u can watch dara o briain on 8 out of 10 cats do countdown on youtube explain that to the english who put it in the oxford dictionary as the irish for the other f word. Of course why would they ask the irish what it meant. The blank look when he explains what it means, tells it all.
