Hey guys, checkout my free window manager for the Mac :)

Zdravo Marko, have you thought about adding the feature to prevent the mac from sleeping into your app?
Marko i just have to say...THANK YOU. I am now learning Python and to have the ability to just push apps to a quarter of the screen or to the left or right is just perfect. My only suggestion is the padding i assume is what it is, but on my Pro 14" the app always has gaps between the apps so they don't exactly touch one another. if you have an app open in each quadrant there is a border around each app. i am not sure if that is something that can eventualy be filled? But other then that it is a great app.
SSL certificate is invalid apparently :)
I am pretty much sure, that working on side hustles purely because of money reasons will burn you out, if you already do not have one single fully-stable income (let's say 9-5 job). I will agree with you that having multiple streams of income is better than one, and it can benefit you in the long run, just it is much, much harder then some other people on the social media are portraying it to be.
Keep up the good work Marko, enjoyed the vlog like always!
You burn out because the side hustle isn’t one that can generate income even when you aren’t there. & even if you end up hiring people to do the work, then you’ll be spending all your time managing them…at least until it’s making enough money to pay a high salary employee that can replace you. You’ve got to find one that has potential for “passive” income, which is why all the rich “side hustlers” are starting CZcams channels lol!
I think that's rather poor advice frankly, when you get laid off and have to job search for three months while your savings dwindle you will feel rather hopeless and depressed; wouldn't it be nice to have even an extra 1,500 ?. Putting energy into a side-hustle continuously learning with the goal of making money I see hardly any reason not to do that. The government wont take care of you, nor a company when they're in the red. Your best chance for having control over your life is having your own income stream. When you pull 10's for deadlines to get a feature pushed do they rush in with bonuses worth your time? no. If you put that amount of passion and time into something and make it yours, there is a good chance you will be lay the seeds at least for later to be profitable if you have a well thought out problem.
I think that most assumptions on the topic of hide hustles are BS. From my personal experience a significant majority of people aren't build for any side hustle (side hustle as creating another income stream). They want a good job with a stable income and then have fun in their life, build a family, have a house and so on. So the general assumptions that whatever side hustle is important, necessary or good is totally wrong from my point of view. I would recommend doing the exact opposite.
Try a side hustle to figure out if it is something you want to go for and if you don't feel comfortable after a year, shift your focus onto honing your skills for your main job and get promoted, because that is where you spent a lot of hours anyways and will make you do the next step. I have consulted over 100 people on the topic of investing/trading and starting a start-up and 9 out of 10 aren't even close to being capable to going down that path, just from a mental perspective. What most youtubers then do is try to talk them into doing it, because its a mindset thing bla bla bla ... if you don't WANT to do it, then don't do it. There's nothing wrong with having a full time job as an employee and netflix and chill in the evening. If everybody would be an entrepreneur or run a side hustle i wouldn't have the people who are working for me, because i pay them and need them to side hustle the main hustle (meaning that they should be focused on the job i have given them instead of thinking about their projects and such).
So to put it all togehter, from my point of view most people would like to have the outcome of a side hustle which is the money, but they don't WANT to walk the talk and that is totally fine. Assuming that it's super important to make money on the side with a side hustle (business) is BS. You can get a good job, safe some money and invest it into an ETF or whatever you feel makes sense to you and be happy, enjoy time with family and friends, while talking trash about your boss and just have fun.
Time is going to pass anyways. Just do it.
Never heard anything more detached from reality than this. 99% of engineers will never earn more working on their projects than they will earn working at a job!
Because most SEs don't have any side projects 😂
I think you didn’t really understand the point. The point was that diversifying your income is beneficial, especially as a software engineer, and that working on your own projects is great for self esteem and worth. I don’t believe that he ever said you’ll make more than your main job. Also, I’m guessing your 99% isn’t exactly accurate, as you probably just pulled it outta thin air
"Why, because we fucking can. And if we can, we do." - Thomas Shelby
You make some good points here.
A side hustle ideally should be bringing in some money but the skills you learn and experience you gain in the process is priceless.
I've been using your window manager app for more than five months and it’s just work, it’s great. Thank you!
You always get straight to the point, thank you
I love the thumbnail so much
literally SIDE hustle
Only reason I clicked lol
Don't know about side hustle. But surely we need more "Vlogs"
Thanks @Marko! It was something I am also going through right now. This really helps.
Hvala za video! Samo nastavi! Iskreno hvala ti sto radis ovo. Ja nisam i necu da budem programer ali volim da gledam svaki tvoj video.
Amazing video as always Marko. Love it! A side hustle can simply start by an open source project or contributing to a few you enjoy using, which is already a big step. And the open source project you own is yours, free to publish or sell later on if you wish. Then you could write a programming ebook about it, and finally tell your journey on social media or document it in a blog post.
Hey, Marko! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers from Brazil!
Thank You, awesome content, keep posting videos like this
That was so insightful and amazing. Thank you so much Marko ❤.
Smart. Stay sharp.
I think that if you made a podcast you would have many views and many people who like it because you explain very well the things of your work and your own projects.
Hey we are missing you, 4 weeks from your last video !!! you are a person who give inspiration for others (included me), come on!!!
Thank you for making these videos Marko, they're very valuable to me and I am sure the rest of us as well :)
Hey thank you for the nice comment 😊
I do side hustles for fun 😊.
At my day job I write typescript, specifically Angular and react. And in other to keep my sanity 😂 I write Java and Rust, life is fun that way
it really makes sense and very helpful
Keep goin’ Marko. Have a lovely day. Cheers from CZ
One menu is wonderful, thanks for it :3
you're doing a great job
Software development is a super power. Once you land a job you eventually end up building someone else's dream software business with your skills.
Why not try build your own alongside what you do for them. Then you could have your own business and work for your boss because you want to not because you have to
A big fan of your work Marko!
Thank you 😃🙌
I tried your free window manager, if you can make the window to expand only in its box that would be a game changer. Right now if you are on youtube and expand the video whilst in window manager mode the expansion takes the whole screen instead of its own managed screen.
so true thanks a lot keep it up ❤
Valid Points - Great content! 🚀
I agree, it's a reality. Having a side hustle as a software engineer not only provides an additional income stream but also helps in diversifying skills and exploring new technologies. It can offer valuable experience that might not be gained in a regular job and open up opportunities for entrepreneurship. Plus, it can be a great way to work on passion projects and stay motivated.
So spot-on!
Top video, top edit! Bravo :)
Hi Marco! I'm studying to be a developer and I have to write notes to myself a lot, I was wondering what you used to take notes when you were studying? What’s better for learning, writing in notebook or in Notion for example? Want to know your opinion ;) p.s. Sometimes there's a feeling that if you write in a notebook, you memorize better.
Marco it's soo true. Thanks for more content recently :-). Sorry, but I'm missing for some Oslo walk in video ;-(, but I know You are very busy. Regards 🙂
Hi marko. another great one. can you do a video how do you manage your life with all of these. with your family 😍
Hey, Marko 👋. You’re great as usual! I recently accidentally deleted the application. One Menu. How can I get one menu for my MacOS Monterrey? On the website one menu for newer operating systems
You're a software engineer in Norway, you don't need a pissing side hustle
Should you register a company in Norway if you want to work on your CZcams channel? Since second income in Norway has more tax and by having a company maybe you can reduce it.
Start a podcast; your advice is very insightful.
While I agree with the video, there is so much more to this. While at work, I am constantly unhappy with design decisions on "my" project, but I cannot change it since .... it isn't actually mine. Also I want to create something entirely different from what my company makes. So when I have MY project, I do it as I wish, the way I want it and with the aim I want it. This makes the barrier thick, denoting when I am working for the company's project, following whatever they require me to do. Then I work at my project, the way I see right. This brings piece, happiness and quality in everything I do. I am happy, my employer is happy, and things just work. Will this bring money, I dunno? I do my stuff, like it, and don't care if it flops.
Maybe its cause I'm a student still, but to me income stability sounds better than being reliant on a CZcams audience for example. It takes a lot of time and it could work out or not. Working a 9-5 software engineering job may not be so impactful to the world but if it pays your bills and you can do live day by day enjoying all other aspects in life too then its a W to me. But maybe its just a step out of the comfortzone that everyone atleast should try once in their life.
Hey yes, early on it’s great to have a stable job, but jobs aren’t as stable as they are sold to be as well
@@withmarko true, i guess i will see once I’m graduated next year🫣
Hi Marko, i like your video, they are so chill and interesting, in this video you said a big think.
Im a guy 23 years old and you are a big source of inspiration for me.

Bro make a video on investing in stocks/ mutual funds as a Software engineer
After 7 years coding-working for others, I lack purpose in life. I have plenty of ideas and projects to develop but I have always postponed them because I wanted to get experience first. But I am done. I must fall in love with programming again before it's too late. 40 hours per week leaves no time for creativity, I need to decrease working hours first.

Hi Marko,
I've been following you for a while now, and I'm currently starting to learn about this industry. I'm wondering, as a software engineer, what specific field do you specialize in? I'm still trying to figure out what a software engineer does, and I'm really hoping for your response!
It's always the question of what? What should can one do?
something happened to your website "Invalid SSL certificate"
Marko why did the videos in ur Work are gone
Can you make a video on how to make money from apps?
it's more easy do make a side hustle when you're alone xD
Yes, so true 😃
Currently I'm having issues of what services could I offer in tech at the moment that I can adequately compete with the market and market standard. I'm used to of having a list of tasks or at least goal for development but when trying to look at it from the lens of a business, my service ideas are pretty much blank
You are taking things you know for granted. Try sharing your knowledge on CZcams or other platforms and you will be surprised

Your video is good, but it might be better if you put a subtitle for viewer from other country like me.
amen
Hi Marko! What do you use for editing your videos and create your thumbnails? ☺️
Hey I edited this video using DaVinci Resolve and made the thumbnail using Pixelmator Pro
Good afternoon Marco.
I'm from Brazil and I love watching you, could you put the subtitles in Portuguese so I can follow all the videos?
Thank you and a hug
If one thing makes sense for you, the external opinion fades away. The side hustle doesn't have to be something highly profitable from the beginning. As Steve Jobs said: "You cannot connect the dots looking forward."
Marko, I miss your videos
Hi Marko☺️
Can you make a video as an "Answer to question" ? If you have free time for sure...
do you fell you can make more money and have more joy when you do your own apps, youtube, maybe freelancing sometimes.
i do side hustle cuz i dont want to be a slave all my life and we dont know if software devlelopment is a secure path anymore
Great thumbnail
Having a purpose is a great thing to have, but it doesn't have to be monetary. You can do something just because you enjoy doing it.
Of course the best things in life are free, meaning they can’t be bought with money. However, money is a way of communicating value. Do something that is valued by others and they will communicate that value to you via money. In this respect, money is a gauge of value, that gives us feedback on how others value us, our time, our efforts etc.
I've spent 10 years working as a freelancer. I've never worked 9 to 5 for anyone. And my freelance work hasn't been great the last 4 years. So I'm 29 years old and just got my first job, working 9am to 6pm... I'm super worried, also I have a wife and baby so really not sure how this is gonna work, I'm going to earn 50% of what I need from this job and the other 50% from freelance work, and I have no idea where I'm going to get the time for family and also freelance work...
due to an exclusive employment agreement with my employer i cannot have a side hustle and nor can the vast majority of your viewers (even if they may not know it)
Companies hate you if you have a side hustle, they forever want you to be their slave
You use python or JS?
hustle loyalty and respect - John Cena
bro which backend is best for react js supeabase or firebase or node ,and mongoDB or SQL
this is for my university project bro
Whatever your use case is..?
@@noodledealer7447 bro which is easy in this because I have only 15days to do my project
it depends, if is no so big requirements, 2 firs options are the best, if is morecomplex y would prefer node o nestjs instead. about the database, it depends in the data.
... SQL and MongoDB are database related. They aren't a back end. They're part of a back end.

You have not described a side hustle, or made an effective case for one. You have described a HOBBY.
The language of “hustle” presupposes that all of our efforts must be monetized, which is hollow and untrue. The entire philosophical segment of the vlog makes the argument for hobbies as emotionally if not spiritually satisfying, and socially bonding.
Everybody needs hobbies, and the “hustleification” of them needs to end.
If you need a side hustle, your main hustle is wrong.
Bro, you don't understand what a high income skill is, it means a skill that if you have yields you a high income given the demand of the market. Eg. In the past it would have been a high income skill to be a blacksmith. Today a high income skill is a software engineer. I think you are confused. High income skills are dependant on the leverage they generate my friend
Please don't take any offense to this comment, I appreciate your content and want whats best for you I'm just letting you know how I would understand the term.

If you don’t think high income skills exist then you’ve never heard of underwater welding
Marko, how you said it , „ some guy got some promotion because he was extroverted and had connections…“ , it sounded very arrogant and belittling from you. Communication is a big skill itself , which is overarching , and if you don’t have it (may be that’s why you sit alone in a coffee shop) it does not mean that those people are getting some unfair advantage. It’s part of the work regardless where you work at. In addition, I would like to ask family and friends of all people preaching side hustles, how their relationship with such side hustlers is, I am pretty sure , it won’t be that healthy
Most of the times "some guy that got promotion because he was extroverted === guy is a good con or ass licker" > everybody sees he doesn't add any real, true value (except from making those above him "happy").
Relationships of the people with side hustles do not exist because it is impossible to make them because there is simply no time.
24h - 8h or less to sleep - 8h plus minus of day job - couple of hours of commuting, breaks, eating, refreshing - side hustle.
Weekend - you can get some time for the relationships.
Is it worth it ? I don't know - if one day your side hustles replaces your day job, plus gets you more income on top then it will be worth it.
I am having hard time having a healthy life with just a day job (tiredness, depression maximum levels), so imagine how am I with little bit of side hustling :-) I guess some people are just not born for that (same as some are not born to be good football players / basketball players etc)
