  • Update May 19 2021: VICE News produced a series of seven panels moderated by Frank Luntz from December 2017 to January 2019. Recently, it was reported that Luntz was on Ted Cruz’s reelection campaign payroll in 2018. VICE News was unaware of this affiliation, and Luntz did not disclose this information at the time of these productions.
These are the views of twelve conservative voters who gathered inside a Birmingham coffee house Thursday for a candid discussion about the senate race in their state. Voters dismissed many of the allegations against Moore - while saying behavior that was acceptable in Alabama decades ago shouldn’t be measured by modern standards.
“Forty years ago in Alabama, there's a lotta mamas and daddies that would be thrilled that their 14 year-old was getting hit on by a district attorney,” one voter said. “There was still clothes on,” another voter said of the first allegations against Moore. “As soon as the girl said she wasn't comfortable, he took her home.”
The panel was compiled and moderated by Frank Luntz, the Republican pollster well known for arranging focus groups with GOP voters.
This segment originally aired Dec. 8, 2017, on VICE News Tonight on HBO.

He wasnt talking about himself in the present tense and how he sees it. He was talking about how people were seeing it back then. So implying that this voters are "sick" is just a lie because he was talking about their grandparents.

zammmerjammer Evangelicals don’t believe in formal sacramental repentance - it’s very much a “me and Jesus” matter. This lack of an incentive to confess sins, combined with rugged individualism, may perhaps be why American Evangelicals can do really, really stupid things and still not be questioned. Then again, American Evangelicalism has become a right-wing political super PAC, not a genuine body of Christ.

Those monuments were built as memorials by the children and grandchildren of Confederate Civil War veterans 130 years ago which was before buses had been invented. I ride the bus all around town and to and from work every day in the city of Birmingham and have all my life. I also rode an interstate bus from Birmingham, AL to Chattanooga, TN once. Also, in Birmingham, we have almost no Confederate memorials because our city was founded after the war. We had one small one at a downtown park that commemorated Civil War veterans alongside WWI and WWII veterans but it was removed in recent years. Most of our historical monuments in the city commemorate the Civil Rights movement.

the bigger blonde lady had a good point when asked about blacks supporting doug jones by a 97% clip. She said that it tells her that roy moore didn't do a good job appealing to them.
I don't know how intellectual she is... but she didn't blame democrats or blacks... she blamed her own party and candidates failing to appeal to a different demographic. She was unfortunately the only positive thing in this whole thing.
Oh, and the guy that never speaks was also a bright spot, i think he went into the discussion thinking he'll vote for roy.... and after hearing these crazy fucks speak i think he realized he doesn't want to be associated with these fucks.
You can see his face @2:48 on the right side of the screen with a look of disbelief when the guy says 'it'd be an honor for a DA to molest your 14 year old daughter 40 years ago.'
