Oathkeeper is Cyno's Act 2 Story Quest of the Lupus Aureus Chapter, released in Phase 2 of Genshin Impact 4.6. delves a bit more into Cyno backstory and lore, as well as talking about the odd temple of silence, and giving us some Hermanubis lore. again the guy is built like a truck. the quest is oddly timed given theres no cyno rerun, so Im fairly confident its because the rite of duels part of the quest cyno had vs Sethos, will wind up becoming very prevalent in Natlan against whoever we end up fighting, or whose fights we end up watching. we dont get fight scenes between characters too often in genshin, so having a fight between cyno and sethos right before natlan, is triggering my spider sense. traveler vs capitano, traveler clean sweep- book it. 4.7 trailer next week right? patch kinda went by fast ngl. pulling for clorinde idk about the other one lol. i should be able to get back into hsr and finish my thoughts about penacony, well see lol

Also, this explains why sethos is a 4 star. He essentially gave his 5 star rank away to cyno.
Lotta things falling into place rn. Cynos buffed, the desert and rainforest are more united than ever, watatsumi and the shoganate are buddy buddy, liyues adepti and humans are coexisting, Fontaines dragon sovereign has his full power. Idk whats up in ventis land, but if a war breaks out, some of these regions are in a solid position to fight back against whatever they're up against.

A detail I would like to add is that during their fight, in the first phase they both used the power gifted to them by the gods then switch to using ordinary weapons. This was a call back to their conversation earlier where Cyno and Sethos compared themselves to one another, Sethos states that Cyno is a complete person because outside of being a vessel, he has his own purpose and goals, whereas Sethos has only been following the will of his grandfather, not having any purpose in life besides being a vessel. They open the fight to see who is the better vessel, but end the fight using their own strengths, and thus Cyno won using his own capabilities and conviction.

My favorite part of this quest, besides the cutscene and exposition, is when Naphis tears the holy hell out of Cyrus; man, to think one of the Akademiya's best and brightest retirees had a huge brainfart and nearly got himself turned into Sumpter Beast poop.

"The chestless temple"... reminds me that the areas of Sumeru revealed by the map update also seem to be 99% chestless... between that and how empty the surface area around Petrichor is I was much disappoint.

I think Tighnari is a Valuka Shuna and the people are from Tighnar. Weird shit, but this quest is cool. And the fact they added the Kaveh leaning against the table animation is definitely a choice lol.
That's what I understood too. And his dad told him his name came from that inheritance before, so it's more like his parents just named him after a place, which isn't too weird, imo.

I mean the inspiration behind him, Al-Tighnari is called that because he’s known for the part of his name named after the village of Tignar where he was born. So in a way they were true to the roots of his name.
This is different from AlHaitham who is named after Ibn al-Haytham since based on naming conventions, just like Al-Tighnari we aren’t using his actual first name but the fact that he is the grandson of Haytham (if I’m reading his full name correctly)

Because Sumeru is about family bonds :) out of all the archons, nahida also gave us the most clear answer about our history. So naturally, traveler feels the most comfortable with !
So basically this quest cutscene its a tease for natlan AQ, maann I cant wait for Capitano cutscenes in natlan dude probably avoid all conflict but at the end of natlan we witness his max potential

This was the best writing I’ve seen in Genshin so far. Lots of character interactions, Cyno does his joke thing but it isn’t overplayed, perfect amount of lore without dumping. Felt like a seamless story unlike most story quests. Great perspectives and lessons learned for cyno and sethos. Full props to Hoyo this round

Tighnari called Tighnari and his people called the Tighnar is not questionable. :) There are a lots of family name which corresponds to their nationality. (for ex, Magyar Peter. Magyar means Hungarian etc or Román Balázs, Román meaning Romanian)
Where I live (in Transilvania, Romania) there are a lots of names hich means some kind of nationality. (Tóth, Szász, Sváb, Cseh, Német etc)

The only dissapointing thing about the temple of silence is the lack of books or just things to read in general, i think there just two npcs who have an interesting conversation but it sadly stops at that, also no chests but i didn't care that much about it

This was mt favorite story quest ever, it was wholesume, beautiful, intresting , and above all, it was full of the cast and charcters we love !

Actually, we have a direct, in-game, voiced, spoken to the traveler, by a playable character, written by mihoyoverse, canonical age for cyno. In fact all the sumeru bois.
Kaveh hangout confirms he's 24 or 25. No more. And he also confirms he is the oldest of the squad, so cyno is around 22-24 give or take
This was one of the better story quests in genshin and a lot better than cyno's first quest

Istg sometimes these characters are so dumb. How do you not notice that giant insignia until Kaveh showed up. Also not the Ochaco reference lol. Referencing My Hero, Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen recently I approve. And Collei running away is amazing. The Joestar secret technique being used once again.

@@DawitsLookingforEmilia yeah that probably is true. we saw cyno and wanderer go head-to-head in the parade of providence event, and they were pretty evenly matched, with wanderer just barely coming out on top sorta, but now cyno's power's gone quite a bit up, he probably beat wanderer.
..though that's assuming wanderer wasn't holding back in the competition. I mean, it wasn't even a real fight, it was just a relay race! to be honest we don't know WANDERER's power level that much. I mean, he DID manage to solo shouki no kami, but there were some memory/dream shenanigans going on
..and if cyno's ult form means he's using hermanubis' power, then cyno didn't even USE his ba fragment in the event!
...all in all, though. I'd like to think they're pretty evenly matched

I wish we actually fight Sethos just like in HSR when we fought argenti and aventurine instead of just cutscene, that whould be good tbh

This is because these are literally different games in different genres. To make a battle with a character in hsr, all you need is just to put an already playable character in the place of the enemy, that's it. By the way, attacks in hsr are cutscenes, they don't have a hitbox trajectory or anything else that needs to be worked out in a 3d environment, it's just animation and nothing more.
In the genshin, or in just an action RPG in general, you need to create new attacks for the character, because the nonsense that the playable versions have do not work against players, you need to make a working AI for these attacks, you need to make the attacks look normal, organic, make them dodgebal, and so on. This is literally the reason why only hsr has such character battles in all hoyo games, because they can do them in one click, by the way, anyone can also do this using mods.

hermanubis design is different to the archon quest cutscene.
i'm starting to think deshret's 7 sages were adeptus/youkai like beings.
The priest in the Archon quest cutscene isn't Hermanubis but the Priest Kasala who just happened to have the same designe as Cyno, also Sumeru already have it's own adepti which are the Jinns who can shapeshift, we met Liloupar who can somehow shapeshift into a Yaksha who are part of the adepti, and Hermanubis has it's own race, the others sages probably have different ones.

The only problem with me in the story quest is that the grandfather just die when he finish talking. I mean I kinda feel that was too childish if that were to just happen. I’m saying this is because during sumeru there was a time where a lot of people complaining the story quest are too childish and just picnic.

Not every character needs to be meta to be considered "strong" tho , he is strong but not broken or such , but still sad bro , as one of the most awaited sumeru characters and the coolest sumeru character , plus being a good written character with personality layers and interesting lore and fun relationships and interaction, he really deserves to be meta broken character

This quest was nice in a way... but it literary didn't give any information about ANYTHING. We absolutly don't know what that fragmant do with Cyno... more power or somekinde of a knowlage? Yes that was a good point that there wasn't any extra knowlage in that domain, not a book or a chest. But it's resaonable becouse if someone did't notice it then the domain will dissapear forever.
The fight was ok, but I think it was somehow boring... Sethos could have somekinde of a regret but we all know that the writers always aim for a calm ending. It was calm and peaceful as always.
But basicaly I don't know more about the characters and about the main sotry.

I feel akward about the whole "Tighnari's people are called Tighnarians", did the writers really think they wrote something clever with this, and the worst part is that they still say it like "Tie-nari" instead of accurately "Tac-nari". But anyway I'm most happy we atleast got to finally meet Cyrus aka Cyno's former-teacher and parental figure.
People named Roman, Romana, Albus (Old name for Britain), etc exist.
