Dang Taryne, this surgery was no joke. I thought the incision was big, thanks for explaining. Better to get it all out! It’s healing really nicely and I’m just so deeply grateful that your Doctor feels confident that they removed the cancer. You took things strides and were so brave. ❤️

Oh Taryne, I am so very sorry to hear that you went through this. I know the fear before a procedure too well. I am 29 years old, soon to be 30, and have had 4 Open Heart surgeries. The fear before a procedure is unreal. I am so proud of you for being so incredibly brave, getting through this and even wanting to share it with us. May God continue to watch over you and wrap his loving arms around you. You are truly so very beautiful and one of the brightest lights in this world. 💛

I literally gasped and said “oh no” out loud when I saw the title of this vid. This broke my heart. My dad has liver cancer and it’s been a long journey for him, but he’s staying strong! Big hugs to you 💕

Cancer is such a sucky topic for everyone- but knowing you’ve overcome something most people fear so much is incredible. Good on your for knowing your body and finding a doctor who took you seriously and understood what was happening for you!

My dad suffered with thyroid cancer, and we have a neighbor still going through the process of overcoming it. This is not an easy thing to be involved in, and even as a witness it is painful. All of my love to you, you are so so strong!!
Hi Taryne! You are so brave. I am a thyroid survivor as well... I have dad 2 surgeries and radioactive iodine treatment the past 2 years, and finally I'm almost done... It's though, but you are a warrior, and only we know what we went through. I wish you have a great recovery ahead, and I send you a big hug!

I’ve went through this experience at the age of 17. I was diagnosed with stage 2 thyroid cancer and had a complete removal of the thyroid. My scar is a lot smaller then yours however. I think for me personally the hardest part of it was getting used to the scar and having people stare. I’m now used to it and explaining. The best thing that came out if it was meeting the best doctor who I still see..she monitors my cancer markers, so I can stay healthy. Best of luck on your journey!

Sending you loves of love! I had thyroid cancer when I was 13 and had a full thyroidectomy because my lumps were right in the center (rude!). Healing is no joke, but be patient and kind to yourself. I’m 10 years post op and when I look back it feels like a lifetime ago. I did one round of radiation and had to be on calcium supplements for a few months because they had to remove 1 1/2 of my parathyroid glands too. But massages help sooooo much!! I would get so sore and my tendons would feel like they got stuck for a long time after so definitely take the time to massage it’ll help in the long run. And thank you for posting this! I felt so alone going through this at 13, it’s amazing that people going through this can look to you to relate. Heal up fast!!! ❤❤

thank you so much for sharing this. our stories are so similar! i found out just yesterday that i’m going to also need a partial thyroidectomy on my right side. it’s been so scary and hearing stories like this has been so helpful in reducing my anxiety before getting the surgery. im glad you’re healing and doing better now 💞

I had carcinoid/neuroendocrine cancer in my lung in 2017, and had to have a lobectomy done to my left lung to remove half of it. I was very fortunate to not have to go through chemo or radiation ❤️ I'm so glad you had the surgery to remove it all, and recovered well from your surgery 😊

I know this is such a difficult journey. My mom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2018 & went through a very similar process. Although it is tough, I promise everything gets better! My mom has now been in remission for almost 4 years & I can confidently say everything that seems like it’s meant for bad, God can turn around for good. Praying for you! 🫶🏽

I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in march of 2020! I totally related. I ended up having to have to surgeries 10 days apart to remove the other side because both sides had cancer. Thanks for bringing awareness. Its so weird to have a neck scar because people will always stare and ask about it but im almost 3y out and it fades well!

Thanks, Taryne for sharing! Love what you said about scars; I was in a car accident 2 years ago and I broke my clavicle. The doctors had to do surgery to put screws and a plate to help my clavicle heal which left a scar. After a year from the accident, the screws and plate were really annoying so I had to have another surgery to remove them. The scar is a reminder of how far I came after the accident. It's been 2 years since the god awful accident and glad I'm past it!

I am so sorry you had to go through this... I had my thyroid removed last July, due to cancer. In December I had my radioactive treatment. I live in Europe and here radioactive iodine is a way to treat cancer post operation. Its been a lot and girl when you say you are grossed out by touching the scar haha - same! It was really hard for me. It gets better - I promise ;). Sending lots of love and good vibes 🦋🦋🦋

I have gone through this same surgery 17 days ago and I am just recovering now. But dude seriously, the surgery is horrible, I still have pain in my shoulders and swelling around my neck and can’t even able to move my neck.
Most importantly, I am not able to sleep properly because of this.
