Your video inspired me! I have an EKO Ranger 12 string except with the moveable bridge. I bought it when I was 15 for $140 in 1970 and played a church group with it traveling all over Wisconsin. A guitar in church was a bit radical in those days. I still have it though there are multiple surface cracks on the front. Any advice on where to start on those repairs would be much appreciated!

Congratulations ! You've done a lovely job ! I was gifted a late 60's EKO 12. It has been to the luthier for work: tuners, maple bridge place replacement, and a neck adjustment. It sounds great but has a number of top and side finish cracks. It came in a very nice case. I can live without the cosmetic repairs . I have been so impressed with your work !

The guitar became lefthanded.
They're not exclusively European as Lo Duca brothers music of Milwaukee, Wisconsin imported them to the U.S. from the 60's through the 70's. I'm not sure of the actual dates and duration, although I remember seeing them in numerous shops from early 1970 until at least *77. I now have a Ranger 12 from that era, it has the normal overbuilt neck block pull up issues and the overly thick clear coat cracks - But, I bought it that way intending to put it on the bench and tweak the play-ability and action as much as I can. I think the finish and patina with skin cracks reveal its well earned character and perseverance.

Nice I have a old 12 string EKO, action a bit high, needs a neck reset, and bridge repair or replacement? Did u do a reset in this video?

I have a fret 1-2 millimeters next to nut. same as that one you repaired. Should I lay the strings on that fret when installing the new nut or should I leave them above the fret? Thx a lot!
I had. 6 and a 12 years ago. I suspect that they were built by the same people who got the contract for Stonehenge! They got dropped downstairs, detached from my motorbike while going about 40 and all sorts....just kept bouncing back!
Yup, used mine as a club one night, he still has the scare on his forhead. Not so much as a nick in the finish.
Why is the display and finished product guitar left handed and the work was being done on a right hand- I must have missed something.
Good spot. It's the same guitar. I was using the forward facing camera on my phone, and for some reason in reverses everything like a mirror image.

@@btlxguitars7606 Yeah, I figured it out too after re-watching and upon your mention of - reading your T-shirt backwards- I'm Duh- A little behind.
I noticed the back-to-front shirt, and the left-handed guitar; what really confused me was seeing EKO the right way round on the headstock. Had to think about that for a bit...
starts off with a LH EKO ends up with a RH EKO ????
Enjoyed the video! Those Eko's are a thoroughly European thing. You demonstrate using white spirit to clean the guitar which is finished in nitro-cellulose. I keep reading that in N America, people will use "naphtha" to clean wood and finishes. Is white spirit and naphtha the same (or similar enough)?
White spirit is the same as mineral spirit in the USA
Zippo lighter fluid is naphtha.
Not nitro.
What kind of paint did it have on?
Hi. Do you know where I can get a tuning knob for one of these? One of them has sheared off. Maybe need to replace them all?
Also it needs a full set of 12 bridge pegs.

You changed the bridge pins, or were there but a few of the originals left?, anyhow, I lack 1 piece original Eko Ranger bridge pin. You didn't happen to save those?

Long shot, but you wouldn't have the spacing for the string nicks on the bridge, had 1 of these new since 81 but could not afford the full 12 set of strings, so I lowered the bridge and recut for 6 strings. But I just bought an 80s ranger 6. Cest la vie.
In the early 70s these sold fr 35 to 40£ I paid 160, the new reruns are over 350 yet forums keep saying there not worth sending to a luither. No, if mine broke, if it could talk, about what happened after all the parties we hit... Oh 150 for the broke neck no problem.. Shhhhsh
