- Here is the entire Ken Roczen vs Cooper Webb story. It started with a girl and ended with championship battles. These two champions have provided some serious entertainment, and even though it has been a one-sided beat down, I consider it one of the best rivalries the sport of Supercross has ever seen.

The championship was over when Kenny made that speech on the podium at Daytona. He showed his hand and revealed to the world Webb was in his head. Cooper has played on that ever since and Kenny has mentally folded.
Great observation. It's the old saying, "Loser's focus on winners - winners focus on winning".
Cooper said on pulp, he knew he was in a good position once he saw how emotional ken got after that pass in daytona
Such a disappointing end to the season I hate how many times Ken rolled over for him and gave up wins without any kind of fight.

think Kenny has equated Cooper too pain from that crash. he sees him and just feels the pain. and probably doesnt feel its worth it.
What you don't think Webb associates pain everytime he sees a dragonsback. Difference between the two is Webb slayed his dragon this year while still being partially injured from last year. How can Kenny associat Webb with pain Webb has never hurt him it was Kenny who took Webb out and screwed up his hands and arms. So what your really saying is Kenny is just afraid of any contact by any rider because that was not Webb fault if anything that move just added fuel to the fire that now will drive Webb to his 2nd 450 championship!

I understand what your saying but I am assuming you don't know Webb or Roczen personally! So you can guess what their thinking but I know both of them and Kenny is not afraid he doesn't ride like a idiot when Webb is around it was Marv that was behind him last time he went down. Roczen just has never been a closer plain and simple. He wears himself out getting those big leads than fades look at his lap time charts! Webb is a good starter mostly but he actually believes he is the true Champ and when a rider truly believes that he is dangerous in a good way. He can also change his riding style multiple times throughout the race and he is the best inside corner I have ever seen. Had he not hit the concrete last year he probably would be a 3 time champ this year. Look back through kennys career this is just what he does he shows flashes of brilliance then loses it and that was way before Webb showed up.

I am from Australia and have been a Kenny fan since he came to America!
While Baggett, Barcia etc always thanked the sponsors Kenny was the only one with some personality!
But I have seen Ken when it all gets too hard he will crack! I have seen him almost on purpose make a little mistake to let some past and then he makes another little one to let them get away so he doesn’t have to battle!
If he had dealt with Webb as soon as Webb did the gun finger at him I think Ken may of got that confidence and mojo back after his injuries.
Also do people forget he watched his brother in law get paralysed from a motorcross accident!
Ken has gone through a lot but i don’t think he realises how close he is to being THE MAN again!

They say those things because well that’s what racers do... they thank the ones who provide them with the opportunity to race, You want them talking about things that aren’t relevant well then you can watch or listen to a podcast. Every racer has personality and a story but you are not going to hear that over a 25 second post race “interview”
I agree with a lot of this, and will add that I've always felt the opposite. Baggett's dry humor is one of the funniest things to watch on a podium, and any post race interview is even better. Jason Anderson - great personality. AC is good too. The boring personalities are tomac, webb and justin cooper.

Great breakdown! I'm no Roczen super fan but it's been pretty sad to see such an amazing athlete and rider lose his grip on his craft to someone else. Same token, incredibly impressive what Webb has done this yr. Hats off.

Webb seems to position himself well off the start and then charges for the last half of the race. Almost like he spends the first half trying different lines, especially the whoops and then wicks it up for the last bit. He has run them down on more than one occasion this year.

Roczen is currently running near the front in 2022 AMA Motocross, he’s showing tenacity he hasn’t been able to for a long time, he’s getting stronger, he’s no quitter.

Man a lot knew it. They just didn’t talk about it any. You had to dig thru internet forums and stuff to find out about it. To my knowledge this is the first video addressing this past history between these two.
Yeah this is what they don't want to publicize. But ive have to say i enjoyed it!. They still want the sport to look clean. A real storyline might make the races more interesting.
Anyone watching knew, i still have respect for roczen... but he's not a true racer... he is a great talent.. plus he's probably got several million $$ in the bank. He may be broken hearted still. I mean a super hot chick like that and all..but he is fast and chilling... he may go on the have a school or something.

Those injuries were his own fault!! Roczen is a sprinter Webb is a pacer then a sprinter thats how he gets Kenny all the time Kenny was like that back in his 250 days the geico and pro circuit guys used to pass him on the last lap all the time.

He wasn't ready on that bike he had just won a championship on RCH Suzuki and him and his father talked so much crap about the team and broke his contract to ride for Honda showing up to A1 in a 3000 suit wearing a 5000 watch and driving 160,000 sports car. He thought he was better than everyone and it backfired. You notice he never did that again. You need confidence but that was overkill. Had he just settled for being number 2 to Dungey he probably would have won multiple Championships. Karma sucks now he is very humble.

don't take anything away from roczen webb is an incredible rider, he has it all. roczen done so well to come back from that injury just he's up against an excellent rider with one of the strongest mental games out. nobody mentioning how bad tomac was, funny.
The point is the riders today are faced with 4 strokes that have to much hp. Today's riders aren't focused or consistent like Mcgrath,Reed, Carmichael, Villapoto,etc etc
I say the following as a huge Roczen fan. This video very accurately sums up the "rivalry" between Webb and Kenny. Its honestly not even a rivalry. Ken has no fight. NONE. Im sorry to say it but Ken has been an absolute wuss all season. Webb has risen to the occasion every single time he needs too and I feel like Ive just been holding my breath all season long for Kenny to stay in the points fight. Kens comeback has been truly amazing, but as a fan it has been nothing short of painful to watch him repeatedly and predictably be beat by Webb week after week. Webb absolutely deserves the title. If Ken had given any fight whatsoever, this could have been one of the greatest comebacks in all sports to see him get a championship. I think we just have to admit... KEN SIMPLY DOES NOT WANT IT ENOUGH. Webb is willing to go all in. Ken is not.
I mean he almost had his arm amputated, then he saw his brother in law get paralyzed in a crash and now he has a family to look after. So yeah, he’s probably more cautious than Cooper who has literally nothing to lose

At the start ( let me remind you this is for a title worth millions) Webb was sending it against Kenny and Kenny had a chance to run Webb off the track and maybe win the title ( very slim chance but who knows).
Once again Kenny did nothing!
But when Webb got his chance he pushed Ken out of the way by running into him!
And once again Ken did nothing!
The person you are in the title against hits you and nearly runs you off the track and you do NOTHING!
I will still follow Kenny but unless he changes his attitude I guess I’m just going to have to be a supporter who doesn’t expect much of him.

Webb was toying with Ken so hard the first couple of laps because he knows that there is no danger of Ken doing ANYTHING about it. And yeah the chance of him winning the title was slim, but he had a prime chance to punt Webb in that race and who knows, maybe a bent rotor or something would have been enough for the title to go to Ken. I guess all Im saying is I want to see Ken try. Between him and Webb, Ken is the guy who can help take the sport to another level. I will be really interested to see what happens next year.

I once heard a baseball manager say “give me a fundamentally sound 2nd baseman 10/10 times over talent and arrogance”. Cooper Webb is fundamentally sound, he’s only fast when it matters most and he take chances when the opportunity presents itself. Kenny is a great rider but he’s also nicked up which is why I believe he tires out and crashes towards the end of these races. I’m a Webb fan because he “legally” does what it takes to win.
I feel like it all comes down to Ken having a major stamina problem and that could explain why he fades so hard as the race goes on and why his girl is now with Webb

Mental toughness, team support and not making excuses is what makes Webb better. Also for Webb it’s personal but he never says anything about it, just beats Roczen and ignores him, the finger gun was the best. Also whenever Roczen gets caught it’s because a lapper, bent bars, or something along that line.

Roczen has suffered a major trauma and since that Anaheim '18 crash it shows mentally whether against Tomac as we watched in 2020, now again with Webb in 2021...Oh well, Sexton is going to destroy SX next year and Webb cant ride like T3 or RZ94 outdoors so it should be exciting this next year! There’s one bit of information that was missing. One of these past Christmas Ken posted a pic with Courtney and someone commented that the old girlfriend (Mariah) was hotter. Ken then went on and said “ohhh yeah if you want a hoe and a headache... go for it”. Dude, if I’m Cooper Webb I’d make it a life mission to never let that guy forget that when he said those words, that he was talking about my girl. Just unfortunate for Roczen to have said that the way it was. Even if it was granted.

Kenny i can understand being a fan favorite hes likeable. But Cooper is on another level he bleeds race fuel, better rider all around in my mind. I love the KTM over the honda as well. Cooper seems just as cool on a personality level too.
I’m a Roczen fan but this is all true. He has the biggest mental block when it comes to Cooper. He just shuts down. He puts up a fight if it’s anyone else but Cooper lives in his head rent free. It’s really sad to see and makes it hard to be a Roczen fan sometimes. Especially when he makes a comment like that after Daytona and just gets destroyed the next week.

Roczen rode for RC when he was on the Suzuki team. Roczens Dad gave an interview to a German magazine completely ripping on Carmichael, and the team. Because he was mad that Kenny cut him out of his professional part of his life. Kenny's Dad burned that bridge
Kenny is straight up scared to get hurt. It's obvious from how he just doesn't put up a fight or try to take people's lines away.
what was the last couple years for kenny? 3 or 4 really bad injuries and each time everybody said his career is definitely over and he´s come back strong everytime. i think even if he doesn´t win the championship this year, i guess with getting through the season without another injury and become a dad he made a very big step out of his mental hole an will come back even stronger than ever before

It'll be the same follow the leader (Tomac) as it has been for years. Roczen fades in MX and Webb is only good on SX mini tracks.
Here’s the thing guys, it’s not mind games, it’s not getting under the other guys skin, it’s the fact that Roczen hasn’t been the same after that huge crash and wont be at the top again

Roczen also has 2 gruesome almost career ending injuries. I understand the frustration with everyone on Roczen but you have to think of it like this. If he crashes like that again it’s over. He can’t afford ending his career trying to go for it all...
Webb only pushes when he is mad, don't piss him off,, he always has a reserve,, he is on cruise control most of the time until he needs it, thats just smart riding, his skillz are way deeper then anyone, even he can understand, he don't know or use his speed until he needs it, his balance is at another level, like the last turn when he almost crashed, anyone else would have, not Webb, he was a surfer before being a mx racer, balance is what he has, that no other rider has at his level, he makes mistakes, but he recovers better then anyone,, he can mess with people an ride away leaving them on the ground better then anyone, he is one of the smartest, riders ever with the largest supply of skillz.. two more words,, COOPER WEBB !!!!!!!
I think Webb is more motivated by Ken than Ken is worried about Webb. Kenny definitely having mental breakdowns late in the race but it seems to be unrelated to Webb. He’s also just not very aggressive on the track anyways. I didn’t know the girlfriend thing would need to know the circumstances to know who’s stressing more over that.
I wanted ken to win but he doesn’t have it anymore. His only concern is not getting hurt now and with his injuries I understand, but I don’t think he’s going to be a championship contender anymore.

Surprised you didn’t mention that Kenny supposedly has a new “secret” mental coach (like Connor fields/Cristian Craig). Latest episode of Moto spy, Dungey is at KR94’s house. Kenny’s strategy all season seems to be about not getting sucked into drama (he slipped up after Daytona) or make enemies on the track ala Dungey. This is JLAW VS Dungey all over again.

Michael Taylor I hear you. This last SLC race was the cherry on top. I love how Webb conducts his business on the track, but I was really hoping this would be closer when we drop the last gate.

It’s just the parts where he didn’t fight with Webb that had everyone talking!!!
I hated Webb but after this season I have turned to grudgingly respect him!!
I think Kenny is like a piece of art when riding his bike so you expect him to win the title and his non fight style this season has been frustrating that’s all!
He is still an absolute beast!!
Michael Taylor I wasn’t a Webb fan either until the end of his last championship season. The dude juuuuust grinds and is always where he needs to be. It’s so impressive. I want nothing more than to see Kenny get the championship, and he’s been getting tons better every season since his injury. I was frustrated when he wasn’t fighting harder for position with Webb, but what can ya do. Webb is legit a weeble wobble, and he almost always wins when things get aggressive lol
honestly being a roczen fan its just annoying to see like when webb is behind him you can literally see him make a bobble in the corner and then the next like he doesn't want to win, like man roczen is one of the fastest but whenever webb is behind him you just know what is going to happen, I think he just needs to be more agressive like just cause he messed his arm up taking webb out the one time doesnt mean it will happen again , just seems like webb will do whatever it takes and roczen isn't as passionate about winning.
