      First time I ever got an anxiety attack in public was when I was 13 at a party. My mom does this thing where she makes me go around and hug each individual person before I leave a party which is alright if it's people I'm close to but there was a lot of people there I hadn't even seen and years and I was already feeling anxious and having a headache and I just froze after a couple minutes and sat down in a chair. More embarrassing people got worried about me and surrounding me asking if I was okay. I know it sounds dumb and not serious but it feels very serious and I can't explain it

    • @PerpetualCalamity
      @PerpetualCalamity Před rokem +1

      @@Songmorning The remark kinda made sense to me, but he worded it poorly. There are people who are technically not sober on a daily basis under medical guidance. As someone with ADHD and depression, I can barely function without taking vyvanse, an amphetamine like Adderall. These are addictive substances that share similar properties to meth, but help when prescribed in the proper dosage. Nicotine is also a stimulant, triggering dopamine release and has some immediate nullifying effects on anxiety (but can increase anxiety in the long term). Hopefully Jesse will meet with a psychiatrist who can provide a more efficient form of treatment than nicotine patches. I think as a society we have a weak understanding of sobriety, drugs, neurodivergence, mental health, etc. It’s like how the US government condemned ketamine and psychedelic drugs for decades, but now recent studies are showing how they can be an effective and almost permanent treatment for certain depressive and anxiety disorders under medical supervision in a controlled environment.

    so so so thankful for the explanation of what it feels like to look back on yourself having an anxiety attack. yes, that is you, but it's a part of you that you want to keep away from other people, because it gives off the wrong impression most times. it can be embarrassing and it makes you insecure about your emotions, which therefore leads to more anxiousness. the inability to stop worrying is awful and it's hard to mask when others are there to watch you go through it. it's hard to talk about it afterwards when you feel like you've already messed up, even if you subconsiously know you can't control it. when you're allowed to be yourself, speak for yourself, it feels more like you can stop and and proccess on your own terms and time.

    I have really bad anxiety and will occasionally have panic attacks and I couldn’t imagine having to deal with that while being recorded (just thinking about it is making me anxious). I knew when I watched the video that Jesse was super anxious but the fact they cut out the part of him saying he was having a panic attack is just awful. Ughhh I hope people see this video so that it clears things up because anxiety does this to people and it’s not something that people should be ashamed about. My heart goes out to Jesse and everyone else who struggles with mental health💚

    Dude, so real! I thought he wasn't off, just nervous!! I have terrrible generalized anxiety, and man, I would've been totally quaking like he was, but I am glad that he chatted with Cody and felt comfortable sharing so much! He seems like a great guy!

    I think he said something that is so so important for us to remember.
    Our brains are not wired to comprehend receiving criticism and sometimes hate on a massive scale.
    That's why I really wish people didn't act so casual about filming strangers, especially in their worst moments. We typically don't see the fallout for these people. (This is not including crimes-I feel unless it's a case of safety, do not act entitled to someone else's image).

    omg okay this makes so much sense now!!! I was so confused at Jesse's clip from the button bc my dude kept flip flopping back and forth and it also seemed like his emotional affect was really blunted but knowing he was going through an anxiety attack at the time it makes all of those things make sense. As someone who suffers from an anxiety disorder and is really triggered in social situations where the attention is on me, I completely understand and feel for what he's going through bc I've been through it too. (Haven't been on the cut, but I have very briefly done work with Jubilee and that shit is nerve wracking as fucccccck like just walking over to the set with all the lights and shit was enough to make me panic a little lol). That shit is not fun and low key you don't really know what's going on or what ur doing really bc ur body just kinda takes over and responds for you cause ur brain is too busy trying to keep u alive bc its so anxious it thinks it's in danger lmao. Anyway good on Jesse for going through with it and having the courage to stick it out, and it was so nice that Cody allowed him to come on here and share his side of things, low key I'd love to see more vids like this!!!

    Man, I feel bad for thinking he was kinda weird. He seems like a nice dude, and just had anxiety. Everyone expresses it differently, I can't talk like at all when I'm stressed like that. Wholesome vid here, Cody

    Mad respect for doin this interview, I myself have suffered anxiety my whole life and I’ve been in Jesses shoes before (not on The Button tho lol) where you aren’t yourself and you’re just a mess. Glad to see he’s such a great dude, and again, awesome job, Cody, for shedding some light on this and showing us the human element to the show

    This is so insanely funny how you’ve gone to a complete new level of interviewing the cast of cut. And what a banger to start this off with- JESSE, the wildest outcome of all and it came down to anxiety, human nature. Love this so much!

    Cody you're AWESOME for inviting Jesse on to talk about this! I definitely wondered what was up with that episode, but now that I heard his reasoning, it makes sense and I completely understand and relate.
    I've tried to over-manage how I come across, trying to "be" this or that type of person before going into situations and as Jesse said, I always felt awful after.
    Decided to be myself no matter what lately, but the panic attacks from trying to shake off the habit of people pleasing can be INSANE :( and I've ended up getting all kinds of reactions ranging from mild surprise to confusion to complete outrage too, so again...so glad you guys had this talk and shared it with us, puts a lot into perspective.

    I'm glad you made this. I'm ngl at the end of the button video I thought he was some sort of psychopath, but I can actually relate a lot to how hard it is to act the way you want when you're having an anxiety attack, and Jesse seems really cool

    I've been watching Cut videos for 4+ years and I've always wondered about some of these questions. It was really cool to get a bts look at what happens during filming. Jesse has been one of the recurring guests on Cut's videos that I find the most intriguing, so I'm glad he got some redemption from that unfortunate moment on the button during this interview.

    It was so awesome to hear a behind the scenes, it’s so easy to judge someone from a minute clip of their life but In reality you don’t know that person and what they are really going through. To us the button looks like a fun random dating show but I can see where for some people it would be really nerve wracking, I think I would be super nervous too going on that show so I loved hearing Jesse’s real talk on what was happening. I judged him from that clip but I’m glad to see that I was wrong! (Sorry Jesse lol)
