Thanks for your feedback and I have some information to pass along:
I spoke with my contact person at the TWRA, who told me that Cedar Hill Park is being stocked with catfish today (06/21/2024) or tonight. The typical catfish stock is about 600 fish, ranging from 3/4 to 1 1/2 pounds.
I want to pass along some information I obtained from the guy who stocked Cedar Hill Park Lake in April 2024. He said the catfish were not fed for two days before delivery because they did not want them to get sick in transit and the fish would be hungry. I fished two days later and caught my limit in about two hours, so he was correct. The TWRA contracts catfish stockings to subcontractors, and this was the hatchery in Georgia that they are using this year at Cedar Hill Park. I am not sure if this is true with all the hatcheries the TWRA uses.
If you have watched my videos, I prefer fishing on cloudy and mostly cloudy days, and start fishing early in the morning. My advice for fishing this lake now is to get there when the park opens at sunrise and, if possible, on a mostly cloudy weekday.
Hi John, this is Steve, the guy with the two twin grandsons you bumped into at Walmart. Thanks for sharing your experience with us, my wife and I are going to take the grandkids there and use the chicken soaked in koolaid and garlic. I’ve used this successfully last summer, it’s a great bait.
Take some rags; this bait is sticky. I park in the parking lot by the spillway. In April, they were biting the best middle ways of the rocky bank next to the road. When I went on May 10th, they were biting best along the bank next to the parking lot. A cloudy day is best, and early in the morning. I will get back to you when I find out about the June catfish stocking day, but the lake is full of fish from the April and May stocking. Let me know how you guys do!

Thank you for the reply Sidney. When I fished on May 10 th I caught two catfish in the two-pound range fishing along the bank by the parking lot at the spillway.

The TWRA is supposed to stock Cedar Hill Park with eating-size catfish in April, May, and June of 2024. If you would like, reply back to me, and I will contact my contact person at the TWRA to see if the lake has been stocked yet. In past years, it's been the second week of the month.
I have two general tips for fishing this lake and when bank fishing:
(1) Bank fishing is better on mostly cloudy or cloudy days because the fish are more active and spend more time in shallow water, where they are easier to catch. A sunny or mostly sunny day is usually the worst time. It's about light intensity. Fish do not want to be spotlighted by the sun and seen easily.
(2) Pick and choose your fishing spots. Fish where there is deep water nearby; you can fish shallow if the shallow water has a path to deeper water. At Cedar Hill Park, I fish at the end of the lake with the spillway because that is the deeper end of the lake. Fish move from deeper water to nearby shallow water depending on the weather.

@@Christinesworldspice@Christinesworldspice-My contact person at the TWRA told me that Cedar Hill Park would be stocked yesterday, 06-21-2024, but I was not there in person to verify that. The fish are not fed before they are delivered, so they will be hungry. It's sunny outside today, and there will be a lot of people on the walking trail, so I don't know how they will bite. If you don't have luck, try fishing early in the morning tomorrow, like at sunrise.

Update: The TWRA stocked Cedar Hill Park Lake with catfish again on May 2, 2023. This is in addition to the stock in April 2023. The lake should be loaded!

Let me know how you do! Looks like 73% cloud cover on Saturday, 04/22/2023, which is good. Go real early in the morning if you can! There is plenty of catfish in there! I will be busy for a few weeks and not fishing, but I may fish this lake again in May after the TWRA stocks this lake again with catfish. I don't have the exact date of the May 2023 stocking yet but if I go again in May I will let you know what day, and perhaps we can meet and fish, and take a few photos of our catch.
