  • There are watches cheaper, and there are watches far more expensive, but right now Longines occupies a sweet spot between quality and affordability that is quite likely the best positioned in the market. Here are three reasons why.

    Longines Heritage 1945 L2.813.4.66.0

for some reason my dad loves Longines over any other watch maker. He's also a very VERY frugal person so he's never allowed himself to enjoy such a watch. Honestly, in a world where a $18k Rolex is normal and that you can't even buy a decent watch at an official AD via walk-in, the Longines is a very good deal of a watch. Looks great, Swiss made, see-thru back. Most importantly for me, it's my dad's dream watch, so I'm going to buy him one and give it to him... as soon as this covid thing is over and I can see him.

    A little Longines story...
My grandfather left his watch to my eldest brother. He's now 62 but when he got it he was a teenager.
Well, he managed to lose it within months, while skiing in Aviemore. But ten years later he got a phone call to say it had been found and handed into lost property. And following a quick service he still wears it to this day, every day😇

Take another example, the Longines Flagship Heritage - a simple but nice looking dress watch to the general public. To those in the know, it's a watch that's very well thought that modernises lightly one of their classic designs, has a good bit history behind the design, and has good build quality, especially for the money it asks for.

As a huge fan of restored vintage time pieces, Longines pieces always seem to have a higher value in the vintage world, regardless nearly of condition. I believe they are a brand that does not get the respect it deserves. Styling appeals to those with a more common taste, yet the engineering and solid performance justifies their worth of every dollar spent. Time for me to get off the fence here and own one of these fantastic time pieces. Thank you for a very informative and in depth look one of my favorite brands and styles.

My brother and I have, between us, the heritage bigeye, the conquest, the hydroconquest times two, and the heritage classic 38.5 mm. We’ve always been amazed by your videos and it would be fantastic to see some more along the lines of the more “affordable” brands. Hamilton has an incredible history, and we see that in only a few of these. Can we look into some of that? Truly, your videos are second to none.

A guy that works for me charged me with finding him a watch. I found several options that fit his price and style requirements but the one that I recommended most was the Longines. He loved it, bought it and wears it daily. I couldn’t believe the quality he got in hydroconquest for a smidge over £1000. Longines is really the sleeping giant of the watch industry today. So much history, reasonably priced and brilliantly constructed. They know their position in the market and they give you some of the best quality you could ask for at their price. They actually go beyond some brands at a higher price.

My daily wear is a Longines Oposition Chronograph, it's all Stainless with the near Black Dial, it has everything I admire in a quality watch at such an affordable price.
The main reason I chose this model was the fact that the chronograph minute hand is positioned on the main dial underneath the chronograph second hand at the 12 position instead of located within a sub dial, it just oozes class when you notice this.
It may sound as if there's too much going on with 7 hands to the watch but I admire it as much today as when I bought it and watching the hands reset in unison is so satisfying.
Keep up the great work you do on here, your production and presentations are excellent, no gimmicky gurning thumbnails like some which I could mention, just straightforward high class reviews carried out with a precision to match any Swiss Watch.😎

  • @flyingphoenix113
    @flyingphoenix113 Před 4 lety +32

I love Longines to death, but they need to do two things:
    1. More complications. They have some exclusive ETA movements that only appear in their watches, but we need to see more than chronograph and moon phases. Perpetual calendars, split-second chronographs, rattrapantes, flyback chronographs, etc. Maybe even a tourbillon. Bring complications to the masses, but do so without compromising quality like the Chinese have.
    2. *more display casebacks* they might not be appropriate on the dive watches or military watches, but on the chronographs, the display caseback is sorely-missed, and it's enough to convince some buyers to go to other manufacturers (like Tag Heuer, Oris, and others) instead.

Your suggestions will ENORMOUSLY RAISE THE PRICE of the watches out of the price bracket . So they will either sell the watches cheaper at a loss or lessen quality which they wont do anyways.
They are owned by Swatch and they are making watches only into the low luxury prices market. IF you want tourbillon go with Blancpain or Breguet - they are part of Swatch too.
