    as we age, stomach acid increases, become more alkaline? increase/decrease? need more explanation, please.

    • @markeftehia-yn8bd
      @markeftehia-yn8bd Před 12 dny

      Hi! as per my research and understanding, the absorption of medication can be affected by the pH of stomach acid. So if the pH of stomach acid is acidic or alkaline, it can impair the absorption because certain medications needs like specific pH level for proper absorption and distribution. correct me if im wrong. Thank u!

  • @megan2171
    @megan2171 Před 13 dny

    I may be confused by what you are saying about plasma protein binding. Please clarify the following; Are you saying that medications need to be bound to a plasma protein to be distributed? That does not align with anything else that I have read. For instance, "Albumin is the most prevalent protein in plasma and the most important of the proteins to which drugs bind. ONLY UNBOUND (FREE) DRUG MOLECULES CAN LEAVE THE VASCULAR SYSTEM. BOUND MOLECULES ARE TOO LARGE TO FIT THROUGH THE PORES IN THE CAPILARRY WALL" Pharmacotherapeutics for Advance Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants edition 2. Or are you referring to a transport system called P-glycoprotein (PGP), a transmembrane protein that transports a large variety of drugs out of cells?

  • @𝐼𝓉𝓏_𝑀𝑜𝑜𝓃𝓁𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉luv

    Does the pharmacology deck have the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in them as well

    • @LevelUpRN
      @LevelUpRN  Před 2 lety +1

      Pharmacokinetics is covered in our Pharm Basics deck. Pharmacology edition 2 just contains medications.
