Being a part of DevSlopes has been such a rewarding thing. The only issue I face right now is finding the time to put those hours in between work and outside work schedule/responisbilities. Going at my own pace is such a weight off my shoulders. Thank you so much for everything youve done/contributed to this. Online Academy is perfect. Because honestly, I couldn’t do self taught for the same reasons Jake was giving. With that being said, I have a friend that now works at Google and he went down the self taught route which took him 1-2 years to really break into coding. As Jake mention about putting in so many hours a day self taught, my friend also said he use to put in 8-12 hours some days. So if you’re willing to go down that path it’s fine. But all in all, in my opinion I think online academy is the best path. Because you get to stay in the academy up to two years and you learn the basics and could also reach out to mentors!! Just remember guys which ever path you take you have to put in the work and work hard at coding anyways to progress and get where you want to be ! Good luck to you all!

I have a PhD in computational condensed matter physics, about 2 years ago I transitioned into software development and integration. It is overwhelming the amount of information you need to even get started! Fending pretty well now, but darn it's not easy and super time consuming!
I rejected this youtuber notion of forced Frontend dev and started learning Backend dev and it was the best idea, its WAYY more fun and interesting if you actually like CODING. Currently building microservices, rest API's etc with Golang and it has been way more fun than trying to get into a frontend or fullstack.
Bro…. What job market are you looking at? In all seriousness…. Glassdoor has the outlook at -11% that said…. If people do everything you said, I think it would give them the best chance of getting a SWE job 😬
thats cuz everyone and their mom does javascript and react and all these online gurus keep pushing it, if you select backend path and grind even harder and niche down you see jobs literally with 0 applicants for months lol. they are DESPERATE for people. dont get sucked into this guru JS/react circlejerk
People like you are literally the problem. This type of pessimistic energy is why you won’t be able to make a career transition - it’s easier to say “Ai will take everything over so it doesn’t matter” than to say “I need to spend 24 months developing a skill”

Whilst AI may become much more relevant in these next few months or years, it doesn't mean that a person shouldn't be able to dedicate themselves to something they are passionate about. I hope that you find something you are passionate about so that you can find the same feeling many others do about coding and programming. ❤

Do as you please but my thoughts are if you are looking for a new career for the future then you need to do a pivot and start to look at other roads or else you might find it hard in the future… if you just want to learn programming then go for it… I have children and I sometimes wonder if even the courses or career plans for the future will even exist in 10 years….
I am self-taught, people watching this video he's right abt it but it's doable, and if I can do it trust me you can too. It's all about mindset.
