    I appreciate the video man, considering a 10" bar upgrade myself - was kind of intimidated by the project but will give it a go having seen it.

  • @theunfortunatespectacle7381

    I did that with the Allen wrench under the seat. Great bike!

    Thanks for this. Subscribed. BTW, Here's a tip...cover the tank with a towel before you start. I cringed right from the start, especially when your electric tool slipped. Second tip.....did you know that the gaps between the handlebar clamps are supposed to all be equal? It's easy to put undue strain on the cast arch clamps if you don't do this, and they could crack.

    How long would the cables have to be to put 16 inch apes on?? Anybody done that yet??

    Nice install.. I see they are a little higher, but less pullback. How do you like em so far. We will need a video and your thoughts.

      Too rainy to do more than sit on it and rev today. Will probably do a follow-up vid next week after the long weekend. They are exactly where I think I want them but only a long ride will tell.

    What make and model is that windshield? I find mine way too high, buffering is crasy.

    • @MNMoto
      @MNMoto  Před 5 lety +1

      It is a Memphis shades 17" fats. Also buffets though, the 1300 is known for it, you should look into fork mounted wind deflectors, also known as "lowers". You can get clear ones like Memphis shades or chrome ones.

    Can you tell me which HD handle bars you used & where to buy them?

    • @MNMoto
      @MNMoto  Před 4 lety

      2006 Street Bob, got them on craigslist from a guy who went aftermarket.

    Interesting...I never thought to consider harley bars..I ended up replacing the stock bars on mine to ones based off of the Royal Star..much better angles and more relaxing ride which I assume is what you were going for..nice job!

    • @MNMoto
      @MNMoto  Před 5 lety +2

      Exactly, only I did not need the pullback since I am 6'8" and ride with my hands and feet are way forward... I use 6" floorboard extensions!

      MNMoto wow! You are tall! Lol I’m 6’ 1” myself..the stock bars were giving me shoulder pain so I switched.

      I may have said Fatbob, but looked back and they are actually from a 2006 Street Bob.

    Did you have to modify anything to get the Harley bars to fit? Been looking at some ape hangers but the website says they are motorcycle specific and only fit harleys

    • @MNMoto
      @MNMoto  Před 3 lety

      I did not need to modify anything. Just pay close attention to the width of the clamping area because the vstar clamps are wide. The fat bob bars just fit and the knurled areas don't match perfect, but they worked for me.

    • @user-px9tq5bj3o
      @user-px9tq5bj3o Před 3 lety

      @@MNMoto The bars I was looking at are pretty much the same specs but 12" rise. I'm guessing the knurled area is why it's telling me it won't fit but that's no big deal.
      Anyways thanks for responding!

    • @MNMoto
      @MNMoto  Před 3 lety

      @@user-px9tq5bj3o with 12" rise the cables may not be long enough. That is the issue with the v star is nothing is engineered for these bikes in aftermarket. it is a gamble unless you go with something like barron bars. I was just too cheap and the harley bars were a steal marketplace. I probably would not have gambled retail unless I knew there was a good return policy.

  • @KillswitchStreamer
    @KillswitchStreamer Před 4 lety +1

    What size were the first of bars? 10"?

    • @MNMoto
      @MNMoto  Před 4 lety

      They were the stock yamaha 8" bars. They were really awkward the first few years of the vstar 1300 (wide and far away from the rider) and a lot of people replaced these with Royal Star Tour Deluxe (RSTD) bars for more pullback. I did not need them any closer because I am so tall and was looking at 10" ape hangers. Some have made 12" work without changing cables, but it depends on the bend of the bars and cable routing. The Harley Street Bob bars have similar dimensions to aftermarket 10" apes but were super cheap on craigslist so I gave them a shot and I am quite pleased with how they worked out.
