I'm about to buy a metal flake yellow 2000 Trek Hilo triathlon/time trial bike with a 56 cm frame for $100 from a friend here in Texas who has his own nice bike shop. The bike, 650 b, has Syntace clip on aero bar, Shimano 105 crankset, Spinergy wheelset with Vittoria Competizione tubular tires, a clincher training wheelset with Mavic hubs and Profile Design twin water bottle cages mounted behind the saddle, among other components and parts. I don't race, yet, but will take this bike out on days when I'm feeling particularly sassy and just want to ride as fast as I can in a straight line. How would this bike handle going over bridges across rivers and hills of varying gradients ? My road bike is a Lemond Buenos Aires in 56 cm frame with countless thousands of miles ridden on it since new in very early 2000s. My mountain bike is a Gary Fisher Mamba in 19 inch frame and is a bit of a project bike to get her in riding condition again. I also want a track racing bike, a cyclocross bike, a touring bike, a BMX 26 or 29 inch cruiser race bike and a beach cruiser. You can never have too many bikes, just not enough. Thank you for this nice video and good luck with your racing you absolute cycling legend.
How do you get comfortable riding a TT bike? I don't mean physically, but leaning on the aero bars, not being able to brake quickly and not having as much control as a road bike just terrifies me.
The aerobars are mostly for flat and not too technical (sharp corners) roads. However, if there are some hills/climbing in the TT, then most riders would just place an aerobar on their road bike (light weight bike for climbing). Once you get used to it, it's not that bad. You can go around curves or even corners without getting out of the aerobars.
What handle bar you use? Can you provide the diameter of the aero bar with the microshifter and brake lever? I’m also considering to had this set up...thanks
tt bike and triathlon bike is not the same? hmmm... i'm a triathlete and i have a Giant trinity tt bike... because based on my experience, bikes we used in triathlon are tt bikes. Triathlon bike is what kind of bike? isn't it tt bike too? please let me know.
There: "The most significant difference is comfort. By design, triathlon bikes are made to go the distance. Triathletes often ride through hilly terrain, cover distances up to 112 miles during races and must transition to running quickly and efficiently. In contrast, time trial riders get off the bike completely spent. Their bikes are designed for only one thing-speed. As such, triathlon bikes favor a more relaxed position and a lighter frame than time trial bikes"
@@alejandromedina4062 Yes, I had to use my 2010 cannondale slice 4 for group ride in hills and was shocked how comfortable it was and faster than my road bike, just be more careful in the turns and stay in front or give room for extra braking distance. I now know why it has the comfort frame and the lower gears, it can be used for time trialing for sure but its great for long rides too.
Love the vid! Thank you for the tour and all of the explanations behind the various bikes in the collection.
Look forward to more! :)
I would love to see a video about the TT flexibility exercises you are doing. Great video!
This vídeo is so complete, thank you so much 🙏
Good video, keep up the good work.
great, thanks for the explanation on how to shift and brake
I will be buying a time trail bike soon. Looking forward to more of your tt bike videos. Thanks!
So did you buy one

How would you find climbing a big hill on a TT bike is it heavier then using a road bike to climb

Cheers buddy :)
Curious why you have shallow section wheels on your TT bike. Seems like that would be really useful.
Maybe strong sidewinds?
Probably because they're very expensive
What brake levers are these on this TT bike? I see that they are aero style to be parallel to the bar, but then they also have a thump bump.
Nice & Thanks :)
6:38 so is it difficult to work on the brakes cause looks like access is difficult with wheels on and what about cable routing
Wich tt bike is this one ?
What's your next road bike project? (If you have one going on.)
Great vid. If I have a di2 TT. Is it possible to get a new hood that ALSO has shifters on the hood?
You can have DI2 shifters in two locations.
does all TT bike brake lever dont have shift and gear changing?
Not generally...
