Good job, Robert! It's all about the details.
Amen, brother! I know style is very personal, but bad taste does exist, and I really think that skinny lapels fall into that category. There's a reason for over 100 years standard or wide lapels were the norm with only the 60s and recent decade favoring skinny. The fact that bespoke tailors never make them is another good sign. They really do make the suit look flat, lifeless, and cheap.
Very great points Demetrius!
@Selim Mašić I guess I'm in the minority because I hate Don's suits lol I guess I don't like the American sack suits in general
Such a great video man! The wide lapels on the Solaro suit fit you well my friend. Thanks so much again for the shoutout!
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
That new brown suits really pops.
Thanks Don! It totally does
This channel is fantastic! Glad I found it.
Glad you enjoy it!
This one sweet video cleared all my doubts! 💥💯👍
Glad to hear it!
Nice video! Great suit btw. It's got a lot of detail to it.
Yes it does! Different color hues in there
Does a video about skinny lapels. Wears a suit jacket with the widest lapels known to man. Well played sir. Great video!
😂😂😂😂
Yeah, I’m happy the skinny is going out of style. If you’re an average American sized guy, they are definitely too small for your frame, whereas a larger lapel can flatter all sizes as you point out. Love the ones you show here. They’re Hugo Jacomet sized. Looking good.
I’d agree 100%
I generally cut the lapel and sleeves off my suit jacket. It’s a new and exciting look!
Interesting!
@@GentStyle you should make a video on seersucker suits. All the videos I found were 5+ years old
@@Brownboymagic69 you are a smart man! I can make this happen
@@GentStyle awesome, looking forward to it! Been dying to own a seersucker for a long time. This summer might it 😂
Skinny lapels give me the creeps
Me too! 😂
Love this
Thanks!
Thanks, but I don’t agree with the message of ditching skinny lapels. I even find it a bit ignorant to be honest. It’s clear that you have a strong preference for (too) wide lapels. Appreciated and respected! Skinny, slim, medium, medium to wide and wide lapels are present and being used for various reasons as they all have their own style features. Based on many and all sorts of body types, personal style preferences and the occasions for how we dress, it’s most important that the suit jacket/blazer fits you the best.
For many men, based on the above, it could very well be the case that the slimmer lapel types fits them much better than wider lapel types. If a slimmer lapel type looks and fits much better on a man’s specific body type, should he then still choose the wide lapel and look and fit it less proper? I don’t think so. You always choose what looks best on you and what makes you feel good despite being influenced by fashion, style influencers etc.
It’s all about balancing the many features available and focus on what fits the body type and the occasion to attend best. This could include all sorts of lapel types to be the best choice. Best is to have a nice variety of jackets and blazers with different kinds of lapel widths and features!
Thanks for the comment! I still disagree
Looking good bro
Thanks Mark!
Where can you find suits with wider lapels? I definitely love wide peak lapels
the suit you are wearing has a very nice fabric ! ;)
Thanks sir!
Wider lapels are love 💕
Yess!
Can you make a video on padding on the shoulder for sport coats and suits?
Already did that it’s on the channel. Soft vs structured shoulders
What kind of suit are you wearing in the video? You look terrific in it by the way. I love the lapels on it, the only thing I’m not too huge on is spread collars, more of a fan of the spearpoint collars. Anyhow, different strokes for different folks, great video though.
Great video man
Thanks!
I agree. Skinny lapels have to go.
woo..we got to see the new suit.
Nice knot on the tie
This suit isn't the one i got at suitsupply in chicago!
@@GentStyle I was talking about your new Bespoke Initiative suit. It looks amazing
@@MauricXe oh gotcha
@@GentStyle where did you get the beige suit?
@@MauricXe got it durring suit supply’s outlet sale back in Nobvemeved
Could you do a similar video on pants like how much bigger should the pants be a the thighs if the thigh measures x inches and how wide it should be a the bottom, etc. ?
First to leave a comment 😉 great video bro
Thanks Clifton!
great video. glad i found your channel
Where'd you get those glasses?
Zenni
How to trick your skinny lapels?
Hi, what is the width for wide peak lapel, 5"? And are they difficult to find in a ready made suit shop?
Almost impossible to find wide lapels off the rack.
You should check out The GentStyle Collection
@@GentStyle I know, it's very difficult to find a set of black suit with peak lapel in London, I can only find 2 in the shops. And because I'm leaving in 2 weeks so not enough time for me to get a custom made.
I dont know about skinny lapels being popular but I prefer medium to thin lapels. Wider lapels would be better porportionate the size of a mans chest.I agree with the tie match the width of the lapels. I actually dont like lapels that cove rthe pocket square cause it defeats the purpose of the accoutrement
My thinking with pocket squares are that they are supposed to be an accent, not a big focus. Hens, why I don't mind covering it mostly. Thanks for watching Jarod!
absolutely disagree i think wide lapels make ppl look top heavy. don draper looks very classically cool and clean in his late 50s-early 60s thin lapel brooks brothers number one sack suit style suits, and the only example u have to look at to see that cut and drape and shape matter more than lapel size is sean connery as bond in dr no, from russia with love (especially), goldfinger, and thunderball. all thin lapels, and hes still the epitome of visual traditional masculinity in a suit. thin lapels (when paired w a classically well-cut bespoke suit like bonds conduit cut or drapers brooks brothers cut) look incredibly classic and very cool
To each his own! That’s the beauty of menswear. But for me, skinny lapels look cheap and childish. Even in bespoke suits.
But wider lapels makes a skinny or medium sized guy look better n more masculine
bigger is better
Your lapels are too wide
