This video stands head and shoulders above any other Q2 related video I've seen on here, and I've watched more than a few recently. All of which seemed to be more about arcane technical stuff rather than what the particular qualities of the camera enabled the user to do with it. This video is a breath of fresh air!
You obvoiusly love people, and are 'good' with people. I long ago realised that when you take a portrait of someone you actually record yourself, and that the resulting image , and the way the subject has reacted to you, reveals your approach and whether the person trusts & likes you. All the people in your images so obviously trust you, which speaks volumes about who you are and your approach.
A photographer whose work I admire was once asked by a student how he achieved such close & intimate access to his subjects and was able to capture such revealing images; he talked about respect and said “When you look through the camera you have to ask yourself ‘do I love this person, really love them’ and if the answer is no then don’t take the photograph”.
I can tell you love people. It shows in your work which I thoroughly enjoyed looking at (and am now going down the rabbit hole of your other videos as well!). Thank you for taking the time to make it (them).

Are you kidding me? This video is the single best Q2 video on CZcams. In fact, I'd say it might be one of the best camera showcase videos I've seen on CZcams. I've watched this work of art 3 times. You are an incredible photographer and the work you display here is inspiring. It makes me want to go to work making better images right now. And, yes, because of you I'm 6 grand poorer as I've got a Q2 inbound.

Just discovered your work and videos Ben. As commented by so many, what inspirational work. I've become jaded of shooting for work using multiple camera bodies and lenses and am planning on investing in a fixed focal length camera. Seeing what you achieve with a 28mm fixed lens is a reminder that it's so much more about the person behind the camera and the relationship you clearly build with your subjects. Your use of light, editing and creativity with a non-traditional portrait lens is breath-taking. Thank you for providing me with some fresh inspiration and a kick up the arse to stop changing lenses and searching for the perfect tool for every single occasion.

A friend lusts after this camera and it got me curious so I've tried to go through a lot of CZcams videos . Found out pretty fast there are just very few portrait videos everyone is screaming saying this is a street photography camera . So I appreciate a lot those that are taking the time to show no the q2 isn't a one trick pony at this rate I'll be grabbing one myself .

"Quite impressive" is an understatement for this Body of Work you showcase here. I recently got stung by the Photography Bug again, seeing a Q2 in Action with a friend. My Budget being limited, i did a lot of Research and got myself a used D-Lux Typ 109. Amazing Color Science and good lens in a Micro Four Thirds with 12MP. Can´t keep up with the Q, but cost me 600USD only and it´s been the best Money i´ve ever spent. Love it more every day, and even the Prints from it are great.

You’re just awesome! You’re totally right that Leica should be paying attention and putting the Q3 your way. I’m a Q2 Monochrom guy but it was always a decision between that and the Q2. Something just all felt right with it and it’s the only digital camera I’ve loved. What is fantastic is seeing inspiring work from you. There aren’t as many great photographers out there as you think. You are one of the greats!!

Always so inspiring! You are so right about having a camera with you at all times. My mom passed away from cancer a year and a half ago....but prior to that I would go over her house everyday because she couldn't leave very often. I brought my camera with me. I took what seemed like meaningless random pics of her and my daughter just watching TV, playing on their phones (my mom was a candy crush superstar lol), etc. I have like a hundred or so pics like that. Now that she's gone I love everyone of those.

We're likely to lose my mom to cancer very soon. I'd always been hesitant to take pictures of people--even family--but this video inspired me. (I've also been restoring a LOT of old family photos.) We're having Xmas at her house as usual, but I don't think I can wait that long to see her.

Great examples of what is possible with this instrument... its the perfect camera for idealizing and elevating everyday reality... it brings just enough formalism while leaving the reportage aspect intact... its just SUCH a pleasurable camera to use

I'm a year late to this one, but I feel like you posted this for me. I've been torn about what camera to get, because a used Leica Q is just beyond my price range and I'm a Nikon fan, but I really want the Leica character and experience. Oddly enough, I had a close friend of mine pass away as well, and I'm diving back into photography because he was the guy that carried a camera and took shots everywhere he went. Your shots and story of your buddy Mike have pretty much convinced me that the Q is for me. Thanks for that.

Your story of the Q2 feel to me as if you are exactly reading what is going in mind, so I want to thank you for letting me know that I am not the only one who is in love with this camera. I've gotten the Q2 late last year and I am in love with how simple yet very powerful camera it is, and I LOVE how the lens sometimes annoys me because it is wide, but this always provokes my creativity and challenges my brain to come up with new ideas and compositions. I have to say 90% of the online content about the Q2 is either present the camera as the cheap version of the Ms for street photography or something like "that's why I am not buying the Q2", BUT I didn't give up and I wanted to search for something different I wanted to see how it performs with portraits and I have to say I searched "Portraits with Leica Q2"your first video was the only ones that showed up to me , and I was very glad and thought I am not the only crazy one who thinks that the Q2 can be used for portraits, so I want to thank you for sharing your experience with us and for the amazing pictures that give me motivation and inspiration to practice more and more with the camera. Please keep going and share more.

I bought a Q2 monochrom, my first Leica. It turned me into a fanboy. I use it for landscapes, urban landscapes, and small scenes. I absolutely love it. Shooting it is a joy, and the images I get are sublime. I'm not at all interested in photographing people, but I really enjoyed your images. Great work, and thanks for sharing!

I have been on the fence about saving up for a Q3 but this video solidified my decision. I cant imagine a different camera that fits my styles and will push me artisically as much as the Q3. Thanks for your videos. They are amazing.

Great video, as always. That last bit about Mike was really sad, but so very much on point. I'd shot originally with the Q when it first came out in the summer of 2015 and loved it so much I thought it would never leave me, even after the Q2 originally came out. Well, the weather sealing, far better viewfinder, longer battery life, etc. finally won me over and I traded in the Q for the Q2 in 2021 and NEVER regretted it. It's fantastic, and after shooting with the Q and then the Q2 for so long, I don't really long for any of the other cameras I used to shoot. Became such a 28mm fanatic that I eventually purchased the Q2M (man do I love that one!), which now seems to be my go-to, unless I come across something that absolutely HAS to be in color. Look forward to your next video and I thank you for the continued inspiration!

I’ve got the Q2 Monochrom, and despite not being a fan of 28mm in the past, I’m constantly blown away by this lens and sensor combo. I hope Leica sees your work and gets you an early look at the Q3, I’m probably going to have to get one, as I’m completely hooked at this point.
