    I love it man, well done! I actually just recently had a buddy of mine print a tele for me. Mine's a lot heavier than yours. I plan to go through the whole process of sanding and painting so I can get a nice shiny pink tele. I'd recommend spending a little more money on some nice pickups, just make sure they're authentic alnico pickups and not some knockoff. Anyways, I love how it turned out!

    I have one of these on my printer right now. Even if it doesn’t sound good, it will look cool hanging on the wall 😂 By the way, you didn’t include the file or that plug :)
    I literally bought the cheapest Squire as a parts donor.

    What I'm most concerned about with printed guitars is how well the material resist to heat. I've read that PLA is deforming at around 60°C iirc? How is stability going with your guitar after months using it?

    • @koideath
      @koideath  Před rokem

      You are absolutely right. Ideally a higher temp filament would be better. Next one I am doing is going to be out of carbon fiber infused PETG. But with that said the one in video is still holding strong with no deformation. Granted I haven’t had it outside in direct sunlight it’s just been in my house.

    Wouldn’t some kind of epoxy glue be better, especially for those looser fitting joints?

    • @koideath
      @koideath  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yeah epoxy is a great option but with PLA super glue work just fine. You could use a solvent based glue on say ABS and have a very strong bond.

    • @officialWWM
      @officialWWM Před 8 měsíci

      @@koideaththanks. I have just completed mine and I found the superglue didn’t give me enough working time (it’s summer here in Australia and very hot!). I found epoxy gave me a little more time to get the parts together straight. Also, there was a few gaps between some of the parts and epoxy fills the gaps well.
      A couple of problems I ran into is that not all the holes printed and I didn’t realise till I had it all together, so sorting that problem was interesting, lol. Also, I have a different bridge that mounts with 4 screws under the saddles. I didn’t think that would be a problem but when I screwed them in, I realised these very little for them to screw into. I ended up making an aluminium plate to go on the back with nutserts in it and I bolted right through the body into the plate, effectively clamping the bridge down. It seems to work great so far. I’ll be stringing it up and testing it tomorrow :)

    This is great-my son and I are gearing up to print this from your thingiverse stl. I was wondering how many top/Bottom layers you used and how many walls? Has it been stiff enough so far? Thanks for the great stl!

    • @koideath
      @koideath  Před 2 lety +2

      Hello! That is awesome! It is a super fun build! I did 4 on the walls. I wouldn't go less than that due to the screws. The top and bottom don't matter a whole lot you just want it to be a sturdy shell so I would say 4 as well. Infill percent for me was low because I used Gyroid infill which yields a higher strength at a lower percentage. If you do a standard infill I would do 15-20% on the non-essential parts and 40% or greater on the center structural pieces. It has held up amazingly! Nothing has warped at all. It surprises me how well it plays too. I plan on building another one soon with an actual Fender neck and higher-end components.

      @@koideath I have been thinking of printing one of these in wood filament and using either a wood dye and Tung oil or nitrocellulose as a finish depending on how cloudy the body is after sanding it smooth, if it needs sanding, I have a large enough build surface on one of my printers that would enable me to print it all in one piece, however, after watching your video I am in favour of the steel rod in the body, I might be able to re-mix your file to pause the print to enable me to insert the rod and then continue the print.

    Love it, going to try this out! What were your print layer and infill settings, did you follow the original model's .15 amd 40%? I'm thinking of trying a .2 to save some time but i'm not sure if it's less ideal

    • @koideath
      @koideath  Před rokem +1

      I actually did .3 and did a 20% gyroid infill on non-critical parts and about a 40% infill on load bearing parts.
