Why is this stadium a open stadium without roof? What if there is heavy rainfall or scorching sun during a match, how will the spectators enjoy the match?
1/1 Well, the stadium originally belongs to University of Ghana. And the original Architectural plan, was for it to built without roof except for the VIP Stands.
2/1 So the government went into negotiations with the university to renovate and use their facility the African games. And the government decided not to augment the stadium but go with the original plan of the stadium not having any roof or whatsoever with the exception of the VIP section
The swimming pool you saw is an already existing pool for the University. And it wouldn’t be used for the African Games. With the swimming competition for the game a new Aquatic center with an Olympic standard pool and a warm pool has been built as part of the Borteyman Sports Complex. And that is what will be used for the games
