  • These words can help us now after Edwin's homegoing. They stand true and helpful today as they did after his brother and our Bishop and Pastor's, Bishop Walter Hawkins homegoing.

I met Edwin in 1965 I was 17 then and he was 21. This was before he became a household word, before "O Happy Day". A very humble and gracious man

I just love the Hawkins family. I'm so sad finding out today that Edwin passed as well. Both Walter and Edwin died of the same disease. God bless their legacy.

Wow! I didn’t know that Bishop Hawkins was cremated. Edwin always acknowledged that the Love Center Ministries saved his life! Thanks for sharing this with us!

Very touching words by Edwin. And also a very loving rebuke by Edwin to all of us regarding the last wishes of Bishop Walter. It's a reminder that even those within the body of Christ can sometimes become too 'fan selfish' in their feelings whenever a loved one(relative or not) has transitioned. We act as if our fandom and love of the ministry entitles us to a piece of the minister, literally. We have to remember that regardless of how we may feel about it, none of us are here to stay. To paraphrase the words of our Savior after he resurrected Lazarus; 'Loose him, and let him go'(John 11:44). Respect and RIP to Edwin and Walter Hawkins.
