I think it's gone under appreciated, but these commentators are really amazing. They do a great job of explaining things for people who maybe don't know much about the 64 scene. They're also very professional but still hype at the right times too.
Except for when they practically eat the microphone...
nah thats part of the hype
JimmyJoe is da bes, Shears is good too
I agree, the commentating was some of the best id ever seen
I agree. They could learn disambiguate Parry and Super Armor a bit more though...
Isai is truly the spirit of smash bros, he smiles and laughs when his opponent does well, and almost looks sad when he takes a stock. He's such a nice and considerate guy.
Isai is the best smash 64 there ole we was.
While this is very true, Boom looks like a super swell dude as well. Not sure if its related to playing Isai improving his regular character (I'm new to watching the Smash scene in general), but the whole smash64 scene is looking way more wholesome than Melee has ever been.
I'd say that 64 is much more a fun with friends and family feeling community while melee wants to see cool shit happen. Both are very warming and welcoming but melee has its cliques that are much more obvious than 64's.
Ever heard of ESAM? Pretty nice dude too.
Cause Isai knows he could destroy them all
The Smash 64 community is truly something to marvel at. Melee is amazing, but how often do you see players in Winners Semis choose to ditto a character just for fun? Amazing stuff. Awesome set.
MasterTallness I'd love to see M2k pull out pichu at evo grand final, but it would never happen
It's a sign that people don't really care anymore. Which causes a great friendly atmosphere, but it makes it a bit less exciting if you ask me.
@@Rintse Yeah, not to mention Melee is much more fluid compared to 64. 64 is kinda meh, its competitive, and while it's not exactly what i would say "standing out," it is almost silly in a way.
It made me cum to hear that *DONKEY KONG* twice
damn
Isai won what really mattered: DK dittos
Matthew D stop
Matthew D wait never mind your comment was 3 months ago when Harambe was more relevant
pikachu v falcon was what really mattered. that rematch was legit. good to see that they're both good sports
I know this is a joke but that’s only because boom only mains Pikachu and falcon while isai has mastered pretty much every character in the game
the real win here was watching superboomfan trick Isai into switching off Pikachu
I actually got so mad when that happened. Boom knew what he was doing smh.
+TheRassmaster Smash 64 is taken way too casually by its competitors compared to other smash games. It kills it tbh.
+Graybat12 Yeah I know. that's probably my Biggest complaint. I wish people in 64 were more competitive. like Isai, who is my favorite smasher of all time, I appreciate that he plays for fun and doesn't have to prove anything because he's the goat of 64 but I feel like he should try more often. he makes smash super fun to watch and watching wizzy and boom in GF wasn't that interesting knowing that isai should of been there if he actually gave a shit about winning sometimes lol. There needs to be more competition for sure
+TheRassmaster Competition would help 64 flourish, but I think the idea is that since it's already such a small community, no one wakes it seriously.
+Graybat12 yeah since it's so small people don't take it seriously because everyone more or less knows each other and sees each other as friends which makes it not seem like a tournament to them. Hopefully that mentality changes
When it comes to 64, it's like...there's Isai, and then there's everyone who isn't Isai
Crispy lol
Sean Patrick I know this comment is old but what about Wizzrobe?
This comment hahahahha legendary
I swear... if Isai always went pika he'd easily reclaim his throne as the undisputed best.
But that wouldn't be isai
There aren't any more perfect words to say it.
He doesn't need to. He plays the lowest tier characters in grand finals, he plays to have fun.
Until he fights Wario xD
This is a crazy prediction in retrospect lol
It's worth pointing out that if Isai wasn't such a bro and such a fun and nice guy, no one else would stand a chance.
if he stayed on pika the whole set boom wouldnt have taken a game. i thought it was weird that they let him switch on a win. tekken doesnt allow that.
@schoolbook _depository you're trash
@@TheOctoJon You arnt charecter locked but Winner has to choose their charecter first so the second can counter pick. I think it's better that way.
7:42 struck me as a bit grimy coming from Boom. Looks like he counterpicked before Isai changed, locking in his character and then told him to go back to DK after Isai tried to switch to Yoshi for the ditto. Rules are rules but that looked like a deliberate strategy to prevent a switch off DK.
i think the 64 community is the best of the mall, they play to have fun at all costs, no salts or rages, everything is so chill, also the commentators are pretty calmed and make everything clear for mew 64 players, it's just super cool and i wish every smash community was like that
hahahahahahahahahhaahah in the dk ditto their shirts matched the kong hahahahahahahahahah
Isai is the Smash equvilent of the Illuminati confirmed. He's all knowing and omnipresent.
+SkyNinja759 lmao basically
@@SkyNinja759 never saw something that true ! lol isai illuminati
I feel like when Boom got rektd first game, he took advantage of the fact that isai likes to play for fun and convinced him to not go super try hard any more lolll
I was thinking the same thing
I still feel like isai is the best when he takes it seriously tho. Having the biggest character depth and top 2 pikas, regardless of how he places, I feel like hes still the best, specially when he wants to win
Competitive Smash: it's not what happens in the screen, but outside of the screen as well. If you can successfully get into your opponent's brain, then you can start the game, maybe even the entire set on your terms.
And that's what's beautiful and alluring.
@@chrispham6599 What goes on outside the screen is just not Smash playing skills... He could also threaten to beat his girlfriend if he doesn't lose on purpose, does that make him a better player?
The real match starts once the blackmail starts
I love how you can almost tell how close Isai sets were based on the number of characters he plays
I found this kind of competitions two days ago and I still cant get enough of them...
Man, watching top level 64 is such a treat. Stocks fly so quickly, and it's not just dash attacks on the ledge like I saw at locals a few times. G3 was so good, SSC was great, I can't wait for the next one !
I Don't think Boom is the best. It's clearly Isai. He's literally out there not giving a shit and still putting in work. If you ever watch him try he's an unstoppable force.
I don't feel like it's lying to myself. Game one was a serious game and then they goofed off, and Isai won game one. Isai has a better track record and he is better than Boom
I still believe he's better, and if he tried, would beat anyone easily. For Christ's sake, he four stocked Wizzy with a Luigi. He can do anything.
Isai clearly doesn't care much for winning, if he played more seriously he could probably be the best in the world. Only one person has ever beaten him in a 12 character match and that was Jouske, Jouske said Isai has been the hardest player he ever played against and that Isai wasn't even trying. Wario has said that he think Jouske is better than him. Isai is clearly a god but he just doesn't really try
alright cool kid, if he really was trying he would've gone Pikachu all tournament.
sounds dumb to call this an argument, when it clear that he isn't trying.
I haven't played smash 64 in a little over 10 years. And I can confidently say- each Smash has it's own charm. There is no "bad smash bros" and this is a firm reminder of that fact
Yossy Yossi And even that was a fun game. Even Brawl has its own charm. Smash 4 may not be all that replayable since Ultimate shares its DNA a lot but it’s still fun.
*competitive opera music plays in distance*
Let me introduce you to a fun game, called *brawl*
Have any of you actually faced Isai? Its one thing to watch these vids, a whole other thing to actually play him.
Such an insane and inspirational experience.
11:43 Highlight of the set for me. Praise the lord into a slam jam.
i think its important to notice here that the commentators still have a large knowledge of dk despite him not being a super top tier character
I decided to try and get into Smash 64 instead of Melee just cause watching Smash Melee is like watching a toddler have a sugar attack but watching smash 64 is like a beautiful dance of extremely good hit/punch sound effects
Smash 64 tourney's seem so much more relaxed than melee and I love that.
This is so legendary dude
どっちもドンキー選んだ時の二人の笑顔が良い
Isai really knows how to make a great show, most of his games in this venue was like 15 minutes or more, what an amazing player.
I love how the pace of 64 looks the same as Ultimate.
Nick Salvatore I’d say more so like 4, but it’s really close to both
@@maddoxandhisband9146 It seems faster than 4 and Brawl but slower than melee
Nick Salvatore so ultimate lol
Speedwise ultimate is sort of like 64. Too bad about the lack of combos and tech.
fantastic set with commentary just as good. love it
I like Isai's character. Easy going yet a beast within. I feel like if I'd lose to him, I wouldn't be salty like I would be with Mango or Hungrybox. I'd be like "Good game bruh"
watching the DK ditto is hilarious to me since this is like my second time seeing a SSB64 video
They both have so much style. Love it
Mad at boom for baiting isai into playing casually then counterpicking him for the win
yeah such a ratty way to take finals. i dont know how he sleeps at night but at least we know Isai is fine cause he doesn't give a fuck XD knowingly accept the hard counter and still makes it a close match lol.
to be fair, his yoshi took 3 stocks, 2 of which weren't counterpicked by Boom. And Isai could have gone Pika all the time.
link here looking like a sadder version of little mac
These guys were just having fun. In a tournament. Shits crazy man
This is one of the best sets of all time
Competitive Smash 64 is something special
It’s weird how after watching zero talk about Isai this is in my recommended. Now I see how good he is
One of my fav sets.
I gotta say DK has the best taunt in the game
I know next to nothing about this game or the competitive scene, but damn was fun to watch.
Now that first match was actually interesting and they used their full move set to their advantage in creative ways.
Thumbnail of the year
boom was scared of isai's pika and thats why he convinced him to switch
Wait if 64 has 5 stocks... and melee 4 stocks, while brawl 3... then WiiU 2 stocks... then that means...😶
😈ready for 1 stock in ultimate?
0 stocks for the next smash game. Just sudden death every match
BFF Channel then just a no contest after that
Actually brawl was constantly changing iirc, 1 stock sometimes
itsschwaney you ok bud?
@@schwan2420 You good?
boom was taking it seriously and isai is just messing around
I actually want to see a super try-hard Isai
Isai went really hard as Fox in grand finals this year, I forget what tournament but it's the one where he destorys a Yoshi with three shines to close a game.
Genesis 3
@SkyNinja759 That wasn't grand finals
Don't we all?
SkyNinja759 is it this video? czcams.com/video/O8RUp2WStd0/video.html
awesome series
Looking at Isai's smile gives me life
Aaaa q viejos tiempos:3 recuerdo cuando todo era más censillo
How do you get yoshi's dark blue color pallett? They say its not playable but super boom fan was just using him
スマブラSPとは違う良さをやっぱり64にはある。
I wanna meet these guys I feel so great to know there is so much guys out there better than me at smash
I'm amazed that people still play this.
Did boom get an interview after the tournament or no?
Pretty refreshing to see the 64 players keep it light with each other while in competition with each other. I don't see that much with today's SSBU scene.
Two of the fucking best. This set gave me so many feels.
Where do Smash 64 players get new N64 controller? Or do they just replace sticks?
"HE'S STILL ALIVE WITH THAT DI" ... there is no such a thing on this game lol
SDI is the only thing this game has
@@RockSpoon123 That's not what the wiki says
@@Santi-bt7if Search up SDI smash 64 and you'll get results. Trust me. DI isn't in this game but SMASH DI is
What a legendary match
Lolol, best quote from any tourny.." barely avoids the clap"... nothing can beat that
I love Isai. He could be unbeatable, but he just wants to have a good time.
This is my first time seeing a smash 64 tournament. 64 is the only smash game I haven't played and I'm surprised at how well it runs on the n64, I thought it would be clunkier.
DK's Forward smash looking like BOI.
Does Isai use twitter or any type of social media to communicate with fans?
Melee will never be better than 64. Nothings better than some good'ol 64 pika.
are the microphones also from the 90's?
if there would be tournaments in germany i'd love to participate to show the world how an underdog gets into the finals..
first brawl now this? xD How many suprises will we get from vgbootcamp today?
None since this event has been public with their schedule for months?
Now Pokemon grand champs
PM?
i mean brawl is a surprise but 64? it always been there
That's because tr4sh is shit.
Una leyenda frente a otra
取り敢えず攻撃当てられればどこからでも瀕死または即死に繋がるというヤバイゲーム
Is that the only map option in these events
Yes
How did they get those stages?
These two commentators sound exactly like each other LOL its wild
I love this video
How can they choose the polygon team stage or metal mario stage??
You can't without going into the game's very code. Those stages are unfortunately classic mode specific.
who is the other commentator? I know Jim Joe.
Dang I should really start following 64
At 11:37 , that whole sequence from ISAI ending with U-Smash to spike
godlike
This set is so Isai..
Are these guys using third party controllers? The amount of control they have is just impossible with my busted up original nintendo controllers which wear out super fast.
Isai is the Tony Hawk of Super Smash
So many moves in 64 have hitboxes that last forever
literally every move is broken in this game, at least if you compared them to melee
Saudades do smash
Wait how are Battlefield, Metal Cavern and Final Destination able to be selected? Stages are missing too. Is this a tournament build or something? I dont know.
19XX
Is that what its called?
they're playing on an overdrive using a modded rom of the game
Is Isai actually trying in this set?
When more than half the 64 roster is in the video title.
ISAI HAS BEEN SPOTTED ALERT YOUR SMASH GROUPS OF CHOICE
64時代のドンキーのモーションっておもしろいよな
this is my favorite thumbnail
no one's hitting a side-air? Why down-air over side-air?
DK ditto in a nutshell:
*S P E E N*
Like I'm saying, there should be a smash bros collection like master chief collection, and it would also revive melee and 64. It should have every smash game except for ultimate
With Isai its more about how he played during the set compared to if he won or lost I feel.
That dude with the Pikachu really plays dirty
Superboomfan kinda looks like Jim Henson
Does that dark blue Yoshi color have something to do with 19xx? What I'm asking is how did he get it? It's really sexy lookin'! XD
Do they play this on N64 of Wii/Wii U VC?
RebornPKMN n64
Ok but isn’t that shaggy?
Smash ultimate should have had a smash 64 emulator in it
I would rather have a proper target test, home run contest or all star mode. But I would like an emulation of 64 as well. But it would be better as a legacy collection. 64, melee and brawl on one disc.
I personally would just port Smash 64 in the game. All those characters may be a tad difficult to do. Especially with the hitboxes and limitations. Besides who wouldn't want to see where it all started?
Marrqi7 wini never gonna happen but I would love different skins for smash. Like how Mario maker has different skins from various Mario games. I’d love to play ultimate with a 64 graphics pack.
So hard to watch Isai loose after letting Boom take 2 games pretty much.
20:54 how can he do that? Down analog + B but the motion is going up?
??????
Press B repeatedly
