Taking a deep look at the past and the animals that lived in it.
Unrelated topic but the only difference between crocodiles and alligators are that alligators sees you later whilst crocodile sees you in a while
Edit: why are some of you so mad 🤣
So basically your comment is that you learned nothing from the video and you have no appreciation for what these people do. So basically your comment is that you learned nothing from the video and you have no appreciation for what these people do. You people that do this in the comments to try to be the wittiest of all the brain-damaged people on here are just sad. How much attention do you need. And the fact that you learn nothing from what you waste your time watching speaks volumes about you as a person
And the caiman went away.

I love carcinization. Always makes me imagine those mad scientists in fiction who strive to "evolve" themselves or others into the ultimate life form getting frustrated because no matter what they do everything somehow always turns into crabs.
There's a fun, creepy little book called "Hotel Miramar" which deals with ....well, crab immortality.
@@nyarparablepsis872 Hm. Sounds like something to check out.
Muhahaha! I have created to ultimate lifeform! Nigh impenetrable exoskeleton, two arms with deadly claws, eight powerful legs to keep it stable and... and it's a crab again... Crab!
@@nyarparablepsis872man i need to be your friend your reccs are on crack
And then everyone starts calling him "Doctor Crab" or "The Crabinator" and he keeps getting madder and madder.
Horseshoe crabs may not be true, but they are ultimate crab. 400+ million years with no evolution. They are perfect
Crabbing it 200+ million years before it was cool
Perfect little wriggle wraggles.
It's a mistake to think horseshoe crabs (celocanths, sharks or crocodiles) haven't evolved over hundreds of millions of years.
They may be recognizable, but anything with a lifespan will evolve.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it 😂
@@jimurrata6785 technically yes, but they're so similar you might as well ignore the small amount of change that happened
I always find it weird how I'm terrified of spiders but will have no issues picking up big ol' angry crabs
Yeah I can fly in a plane no problem but a ten foot ladder? No thank you,
Its probably familiarization. A spider can be and will be anywhere it wants to be, whether that be out in the woods or on your bedroom wall. But a crab? Be a bit hard pressed to find one chilling in the corner of your room. Also we are told to be scared of spiders but not usually crabs other than "their pincers hurt."
Similar with the airplane, unless you fly for your job you dont fly that often and also dont literally know the pain of a plane crash. But falling off a ten foot ladder? Any time you've scraped skin, broken bones, multiply it and you know what it would feel like to fall.
Idk, just my take on it.
it’s probably the color
Pathetic how afraid you are of soft shell crabs
Especially ironic considering that most crabs are better at defending themselves and hurting you than most spiders are.
It's only a matter of time until we all return to the ocean and become crustaceans, and I for one couldn't be happier.
Have you seen stuff that's in the ocean 🐙 🦈
No thanks
@@KonradvonHotzendorf one we obtain skeleton armor and hand claws, we will be able to fend off such predators.
@@AdachiVsLife I live in CPT. 🇿🇦 We have 5m sharks 🦈

I am NOT😤 getting into a pool that contains something a 5m Shark fears😱
just like Dr Zoidberg!
Only if dogs also come with us, I would not want to live in any world without dogs, even if they also became crabs.
Remember, be cool to horseshoe crabs if you come across one, even if you don't think they're neat (weirdo). They've probably kept you from getting sick from contaminated medicine at least once.
What a legend that Mudskipper was, ran off that kingfisher from his crab mate like it was nothing.
I'm glad you're covering Paleologic while Talia is away. I wish her luck. And remember, Reject humanity, evolve into crab. Eventually, everything else does.
CRAB ALWAYS 🦀 Super thanks for the Super Thanks as always, friend!
what happened to Talia?
@@somedayitsgonnamakesenseShe's getting her doctorate, I think.
Talia just finished her doctorate, and will be focusing on academia for the next little while@@somedayitsgonnamakesense!
@@animalogic Can you give her our regards? Hopefully she has a great time learning new stuff :)
The mudskipper defending its territory alternatively protected the crab from the kingfisher.
✔️ Yeah, @ 8:22. A little mudskipper defending against a large bird and in the process saving a tiny crab from becoming lunch, is impressive and courageous.
"leave my boy alone!"
I love the clip at 3:49
The crabs are like "I'M WALKING HERE"
Aside from being evolutionary op, I also think their cuteness factor is severely underrated. Especially the derpy movement and adorable faces.
Lol when you danced like a crab at the end I was like, oh no she's carcinising!
Okay, crab-walking offscreen at the end was so stinkin cute.
You must be a genuine animal lover, Danielle. I noticed that you didn't hesitate to get your blue shoes wet at the water's edge in your effort to assist a horseshoe crab.
Danielle is a real one!
Simp
Used to have a small tank on the property I grew up on. It was in a drought prone area. So, every time it rained crazy critters would come out. Well, tiny little horseshoes would come out to play. We never killed them. It was fascinating ❤
Those are triops!
In other news I never thought I would see a fish run up to shoo away a bird. But there you have it. Starting at 8:22 or so in case you missed it.
What the hell is that thing?
It's a mudskipper I believe.
now I want an episode on crawdads
Your excitement is rather contagious. Keep it up.
Walk like crab, Talk like crab
Another fantastic video, as always, Danielle and Animalogic crew! Danielle's enthusiasm for these animals is wonderfully infectious. Best wishes to Talia too!
What happened to Talia the Amazon.?
Mister Krabs' behavior on SpongeBob SquarePants is based on actual crab behavior. Stephen Hillenburg, the show's creator, was a marine biologist and marine science educator before he became an animator.
Wow I didn't know crabs irl really like money aswell....maybe we are slowly turning into crabs
Kinda like a robber crab a.k.a the coconut crab, which likes to collect shiny objects? Oddly enough, those guys are false crabs.
This is an amazing channel. I am glad I found it. Keep up the good work animal logic ! I actually painted a black widow spider done in acrylic paint
I grew up going to the Delaware Bay for family reunions. I would always get so sad that I couldn’t take a horseshoe crab home 😅
You should have mentioned that horseshoe crab blood is very valuable, threatening them. The blood can be "milked" from them but many still die in that process.
What do they use it for?
@@tanostrelok2323 to make limulus amebocyte lysate, or LAL to test pharmaceuticals for impurities. There is a way to test it on rabbits but it's more $$ for the companies. A synthetic LAL exits but used very little around the world, I don't think at all in the US🤨
@@tanostrelok2323it's a pharmaceutical thing.
@@tanostrelok2323 Apparently its one of the ingredients you need to make a vaccine
@@tanostrelok2323pharmaceutical companies use it to check for contamination in things like vaccines. Horseshoe crab blood (which is blue, bonus fact) coagulates when it comes in contact with bacteria.
In an ideal world, they'd take some blood from each crab and then release them, sorta like a human blood doner. Unfortunately, it's highly unregulated, and pharma companies rarely let ethics or ecological concerns get in the way of a quick profit
I love her excitement while telling this story, she is so cute too!
This was a super interesting video 😀👍
Also of note, loving Danielles hair colour 😊
I can feel the pain of those flipped over horseshoe crabs that can't flip themselves back.
We need a lobster video. We must learn more about our Lorb and savior
Well I lobster but never flounder.😁
I too have been known to dance in the language of the crab. It's a good way to get around while also showing you're excited. 🦀🦀🦀
The fish saved the crab! Impressive!
The true Krebs cycle:
You meet a new person. You start talking about your hobbies. You hint at crabs. You begin full-throttle about the process of Carcinization. Person leaves in fear and confusion. You meet a new person.
Nice to see u Danielle :) Clint made a cool video about Turtles and everything that evolved into a turtle. Can only recommend! Maybe he will do one on crabs as well - it was mentioned as a possibility at the end ;)
They are just water spiders I think 🤔
Tanky water spiders.
I love this concept snd have since i was a little tyke, imagine a 5 year old coming up to you and talking about how things evolve into crab shapes that arent crabs because it works so well in the environment and actually having examples, people were legit weirded our by me as a kid because i always was a sponge for fun facts but i also looked into them with encyclopedias and dictionaries and educational programming on tv (my dad is a nuclear engineer and my mom has a PhD learnibg was very much fostered in the home)
Sounds like you had an awesome childhood!
Congratulations
@jimurrata6785 that part was yeah I was very intellectually stimulated and that served me well since I have ASD and ADHD so a lot of information was great.
The rest tho... not so much
@@ConstantChaos1 As someone else who hits those parts of the spectrum I can understand.
I'm most disappointed that a lot of the "facts" I learned back in the 60's have been superceded.
I'm afraid I can't relate to an intellectual upbringing. Sorry that it wasn't all it could have been for you.
@jimurrata6785 I'm glad you have found new sources of information and I can definitely understand that frustration, I find it helps to think of it as getting to learn a new fact not having to correct an old one, that makes it easier to me personally so I hope it helps you. And thank you for the kind words
@@ConstantChaos1 Oh, I appreciate the 'correction' to what I've long considered 'true'
But updating my data set changes my view of the world and feeds my self doubt.
I think because of my ASD I see minutiae and connections in things that more neurotypical people don't grasp.
(or perhaps I'm just delusional! 🤔)
I wish I could be there to help turn over all the upside down horseshoes. Or would that be upsetting the natural balance?
Their numbers are decreasing. Any help they can get is greatly appreciated!
Their endangerment, unfortunately, comes from us hunting them for their blood, which has pretty amazing properties. So, if you live in an area with horseshoe crabs, please help any you see that are flipped by the tide. They can get unstuck usually, but sometimes they do die.
great video as always! the ending was adorable
An interesting topic, with loads of great visual information, delivered with enthusiasm and professional polish. Thoroughly enjoyable.
You visited my home state! Years ago, I helped my boss run a workshop for teachers over a weekend on horseshoe crabs and it was great! We got to bring the teachers out at night to see the horseshoe crabs then, as well as during the day. I still remember being a child and taking a field trip to see the horseshoe crabs & I’ve loved them ever since! I hope you had a good time in Delaware & enjoyed our beaches! Keep up the great work.

loving the video!! it's always a joy to see horseshoe crabs, and crabs in general for that matter. though, the captions in some spots don't accurately reflect the narration. takes me out of the video a little bit, but still overall great.
Horseshoe crabs just look cute from the top, the bottom not so much. I love seeing these crab lookalikes-
Danielle's outfits are always on point.
But do these crabs love money? That's the final form of evolution!
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.

I want to see more about that cool mudskipping fish that came and saved that crab from the bird.
love the cute crab dance in the end
Good thing I evolved into my rotund shape in time for this video! Wonderful as always Danielle!
Personally i think crabs fit two simultaneous truths:
Crabs are *a* peak of evolution, an inherent path for many animals to take. Many crustaceans already evolve to have sturdier and sturdier armor, stronger weapons, and general appeal to mates. It makes sense.
Crabs also... are lame. They aren't losing their place in the food chain and the environment, everything has one in the jenga tower we call the ecosystem, but they're not going up.
At the very least they are not as susceptible to environmental changes as frogs are.
Tl;Dr: crabs as a concept: 8/10, crabs in practice: 5.5/10
they aren't lame :(
There is no up in evolution 🎈It ain't gravity
Peak efficiency 🦀
Crabs are peak arthropods. Notice how scorpions look the same for the past 400 million years, but they shrunk. Crabs have done the exact opposite.
Turned out being compact and nimble enough to hide in rocks is easier than trying to outrun predators. Crustaceans lost their dominance in the open water due to the speed advantage of the fishes but hiding in cracks is never going out of style.
"Crabs....lame"
And into the trash your opinion goes
I liked the little crab dance at the end lol
It's the crab bucket of evolution, every time something looks like it's getting close to escaping the bucket the other crabs drag them back down
Fascinating 🧐
Danielle is my favorite presenter her gestures impress me❤️🤩
New info for me, and the presenter is easy to understand, full of charm. ❤
Nice scuttle Danielle!
Are you sure Paleopalaemon isn't just a Digimon? Sounds like a Digimon.
6:11 LMAO her face of total satisfaction.
This who carcinization thing has been fascinating me ever since I learned about it. And I agree, horseshoe crabs are cool! Used to see them fetch up on our family jaunts to New England beaches.

Let's just agree not to call them "Horse Shoe Water Spider" that's just haunting, might even get them music like Jaws! 🤣
Wish there was more info about horseshoe crabs provided.
Like how mysteriously, we know where they breed, but not really where they live.
Or how they are super hard to breed in captivity, and many many other topics

7:33 they remind me the pokemon kabuto 😅
4:37 looks almost exactly like a Coconut Crab. (Truly gigantic sort of crab)
I can just imagine a crocodilian and a crab sitting on a beach together, putting the world to rights and agreeing how one can fill any niche and the other has all the other animals wanting to evolve into it.
Great Video :)
You did a crab dance! Thanks.
Hahahah.
Exactly the kind of video someone concerned about a crab uprising would make, trying to stay on their good side.
6:11 I was so scared for the mic getting wet😭
Hey, I'm writing a paper on carcinization. Are is there anyway some of the sources being used can be posted/shared?
everything must crab
I’m convinced that frogs and toads are the result of similar pressures to create terribly wide and short body plans for the purpose of quick turning in place. Turtles probably take a page or two as well.
Is that next to Bivalve , New Jersey?
