    Dude, he is too cute! I am a stay at home dad and I love it. My daughter just turned 4 when I became a full time stay at home dad. My last year in the army was mostly medical appointments so I had a lot of time on my hands. I loved taking her to the park and the pool. We still go to the library and the pool quite often. One of my proudest moments was when I taught her to ride a bike. My wife has 5 years left in the army before she can retire. Our daughter will be 8 next week and will be 13 when my wife retires. We hope after that we will be able to maximize our time with our little girl.

      That's so awesome! It was a major adjustment for me at first but our son just turned two and I can honestly say it's been the best experience of my life. I appreciate you and your wife's service and I hope you two get to have the best time possible with your girl.

    Dude I been a stay at home dad since my first born too. Now 4 kids at home form 6 year-old to 6 months old. My wife and I talked about me to stay home with the kids too before we had our first. It’s hard at times but fun to be there all the time with them. Nap time is the best time lol.

    I agreed with you all the way. I’ve being a stay home dad since my daughter was born and working full time from home too. It has being the hardest thing that i’ve ever done in my life. it gets really hard once they start walking, i love it every day but sometimes i do go crazy and I feel like asking my wife for help. I am going to miss it I will start a new job soon and I won’t be able to be with her like before. enjoy it everyday even if you going crazy. Good Luck

    #852. Hey bud, I’ve been a stay at home dad on and off, in Houston, then in Alaska, now back in Houston (Richmond). There has been some comments, like a delivery person saying, “hey they have you doing dishes today”, or “hey can I have your wife’s number so we can organize play dates”, and the “what do you do all day?” Anyways, I have three kids 9, 6, and 2. It’s hard. I do dishes, cooking, home repairs, and are on top of the kids school. Like you, I always thought I too had to be the bread winner, but things change and there was no point on working just to pay for daycare. Though I miss a little spending money for hobbies. Thanks for the video and glad to meet fellow stay at home dads.

    Awesome mug! Bet that was a big transition to being a stay at home dad. That's crazy that you tried to work full time at first. That was so cute when Gabriel saw himself on camera. He was cracking himself up. lol. Big props for raising him at home. We did the same thing (expect Abby stayed home). No regrets and so glad we did it. Based on the landscape. I was thinking that you lived in Dallas. We have lived in Allen, Richardson and Rowlett.

    • @TheUpshaws
      @TheUpshaws  Před 6 lety +1

      That mug was my first Father’s Day gift. We spent all of our money at the hospital with the birth and Sarah and I both were off of work with the new Baby. We had a bunch of random? free Shutterfly promos things and Sarah ordered that for me. Now it’s my favorite mug.
      I’ve had so many people say they’re glad they stayed home with the kids. It has already been incredibly rewarding.
      We love the DFW area! There’s so much to do and see. I believe we’ve been to all three of those areas for some reason or another.

  • @adventuresofcooperandemers229

    Being a stay at home parent is the hardest job in the world! It took me almost 2 years to adjust to not working outside of the home after Cooper was born. You are such an amazing support for Sarah and a great daddy to Gabriel! Great video!

    Thank you for your encouragement. I'm a stay at home dad and I'm getting attacked verbally by my family. Now he and my siblings come at me verbally to the point we've decided to keep our distance and conversations very limited with them.
    My father didn't earn as much as my mom did, and he would argue so much with her because of it. He also didn't spend any time with us at all other than scare the crap out of us with his anger problems. (He had a rough up bringing and doesn't know how to break out of these habits.)
    I feel at least I and other stay at home dads are doing what we've been criticized so often. Being dead beats for not taking care of their children in any form, emotionally, financially and being there for them. When we aren't doing one of those we're automatically labeled a dead beat. In reality I think many of these people are just projecting their insecurities onto others.
    I've gotten some encouragement from men and women and I believe it boils down to the child/children being taken cared of.
    Society really has a way of messing up peoples outlook on things.
    Oh one last thing about the day care or someone else watching our baby, I don't want to let someone else do that because I was sexually abused as a 3 yr old and things similarly happened as I got older. So I don't want anyone watching our baby unless we fully trust them.

    • @misshoneynevercame4832
      @misshoneynevercame4832 Před 4 lety +3

      I'm so sorry that you are getting backlash for being a stay at home dad. I'm a woman but i think that often, dads have more energy to be active with the kids by nature. I'm not saying moms can't be active but men who like kids are often very playfull and kids need that.
      Try not to let the pressure get to you. You do what is best for your family regardless of what that needs to be (work/stay at home).
      I have also dealt with the dad with anger issues. It's like you have to walk on egg shells all day and there is a constant tension in the air, which is very scary for a kid to go through. It messes you up even later in life. Most important thing is to not make it into a generational curse and try to make sure that your kids are comfortable around you.
      I agree with you on childcare. I would net let anyone watch my kids until they are at least old enough to talk properly. In case something would happen, they could tell me. There have been many cases of childcare workers and babysitters sexually abusing kids in my country. Very scary.

      @hawaiian-cerveza Před 4 lety +1

      @@misshoneynevercame4832 Thank you for your kind words. My wife tells me the same, that I keep up with our daughter well.
      I'll get back into school to get my degree and we both plan on qorking part time so one of us can be with our baby while the other is at work.
      I think I lucked out as my wife works in the mental health field so we never raise our voices and actually talk things out.
      At first I was always reading myself for backlash as I've experienced and was conditioned from my father and mother but now my wife has helped me to change that.
      Yeah, we both like to work on things that we've learned that aren't healthy while grewing up so we can have a non toxic family setting.
      It is nerve-racking to have to "walk on egg shells" constantly. It isn't healthy.
      Its gotten better as we've gone no contact with those family members.

I to tried to find a job that I could do from home with the kids and it didn’t work out! So question are you all planning more kids? I battle with the pulling my weight in the household also....I love being a sahm but man always on call, no sick days, and orders all day long from the 4 and under crowd is exhausting! Loved this video! Great collab and thanks for letting us get a glimpse in your sahd-ism! Being paid by love is way better than any money.....now only if you could buy stuff with love 🤣love how you all “are a team” that’s very important! 'm fortunate that my side jobs are really flexible. I can do one of them almost completely at night so I'm able to put in several hours a night each week. But I tried to do a full time job from home and it was impossible. Because I have Cystic Fibrosis, we had to do IVF in order to have Gabriel and we have 4 more embryos in storage and we don't want to dispose of them or donate them so we're going to try and have them, that would be 4 more kids if they're all successful. Just asking because soon to be married and plans for having a child are in the works so we are planning on the idea of me being a stay at home dad. So how do you do it?
