- In September 2017, the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth honored Dirk Nowitzki, a native of Germany and power forward for the Dallas Mavericks, for his nearly 20 years of service as an outstanding international ambassador for the city of Dallas and for his humanitarian work for children here and across the world.
