I wish someone could just tell me what I liked to do
This is really reassuring to hear. I'm 23 and have no clue what I want to do with my life, what my passion is etc. I, too was always embarrassed and ashamed by this and feel really unaccomplished in life and in general. I'm sure I'll find something I actually enjoy doing one day!
right there with you bro
me too! stay strong :-)
Yes! me too. This video made me felt a lot better!
me too.. i feel utterly hopeless.. i just wish i knew what to do, i pray everyday (ok i may have lied)... but you get me.... I think the main thing is to do something that you feel happy to do.... follow your own passion, enjoy...
Same here! I'd love to travel and vlog it, that's the dream job, but we all know how lucky you have to be for that to work :)
I'm 30 and still don't know what I want to do with my life. Ha!
+hafiz adruce Not even in your dreams.
I'm 30 as well and always known what I wanted since I was 16, but being a music producer is not a job you can apply for lol. I'm def lost right now. It is scary for sure.
SUPER PRODUCER D.Z I also wanna be musical producer but I studied psychology... I think that people like us should have a "base" job in whatever we can/want and try to do it like freelance.
I hope I dont end up like you guys

I study at university and I hate when people ask "what do you want to do in the future" question... Like how am I suppose to know that... That scares me a bit but I try to live day by day not having to worry about the future :) And I can't wait to find out what life has in offer for me! :D
Love these inspirational videos. Love from Poland! :)
Amanda Lesiak I feel the same way right now and I’m having a hard time figuring out what I want because I constantly feel like a failure. I just really need help on what to do.
WOW. I can so relate. Since high school I've been confused about what I am doing with my life. Other people I know seem to have everything planned out and I'm over here embarassed about my seeming lack of ambition.
Thank you for your words of encouragement, Raya. You're an inspiration. 👍
What's happening with you now? :)
@@candysparkles5016 I'm not sure if this guy is ever going to answer us. I'm from Brazil and 17 years old now. I don't know what I'm going to do in life. I rather not thinking about it all the time, because I think that can be harsh to think that I can't find something that I fall love in and work with that until the last minute of my life. My life's goal is to live in the interior and be happy with my stuff and have a quiet and calm life. That's what I'm looking for.
@@lucabrito6155 oh, don't worry. you're still very young. try different things, hobbies, skills, in order to find out what you want to do in life. I am 21 (3rd year in college) and months ago I thought I don't want to study what I am studying and I considered giving up, but recently decided to continue and now I actually started liking my major more 😀 (maybe because I started studying seriously and now that I understand the material better, I like it more.)
@@candysparkles5016 Thank you for sharing. Kind words.
I was in that full crisis all through my 20's - Into EVERYTHING but could never pick one thing- filmmaking, writing, photography, psychology, marketing, graphic design etc etc.. I definitely wish I didn't worry about it so much! It finally all came together for me when I realized you can tie all of it together in creating online content and fusing art with marketing, and there are so many different ways you can go with it (but YT is a great one) Technology is evolving so fast too, maybe our passions aren't even invented yet! You have a bright future ahead Raya that's for sure ❤️
thanks for posting this comment! Totally describes my situation right now :')
Same💕💕💕💕 thnks for the comment
yes, it is the same and yes i have 20 years old :v and yes, i had considered to study psychology, marketing, graphic design etc etc.. and yessssssssssssssssssss :v
Oh my God, your choices are exactly like mine and I need to apply for an University degree soon and I don't know what to do. What did you do for your Uni degree?
Maybe our passions arent even invented yet.. I'm writing that down in my journal.
Oh Raya, this is so, SO good! I'm sitting here at 9:30 at night(bawling), folding laundry, exhausted after a day of doing all of the tiring, uninspiring things that a mommy of littles does day in and day out. I did volunteer humanitarian work and community development all over the world for 10 years before I met my husband and got married. Now we live in Canada, have a mortgage, 2 cars, 2 kids and a dog and I often wonder what I am doing that is making a difference or feeding into my passions now. I recently decided I need to do more and applied for a Social Work university degree program. I'm 37 and just finished my FIRST ever semester of university. Most days I know that I am doing the right thing, showing my kids at a young age that it's never too late to follow your dreams. But some days, like today, I wonder if I'm just crazy to do this and think I should put it on the back burner until my kids are older and don't need me as much. You're words have encouraged me to keep going, to not see myself as a failure and to fight for my dreams! I know you don't know me, but I feel like I know you a little bit from watching your vlogs and I freaking love you! We are moving from Calgary to Cape Town next year and I really hope I run into you in CPT one day so that I can give you a massive hug and thank you for encouraging me in person. You are wise beyond your years and I'm so glad that the younger generation that watches your channel has such an amazing role model to look up to! Hugs and kisses from Calgary!
Felicia Cloete You are true inspiration to your children!! How is Cape Town?!
Felicia Cloete I wish you having good time I Liked your well writing keep pushing forward in this crazy world dear
I cried watching this video. I am full of thoughts. I am from India. I cant carry the weight of society's pressure. Hope this video will give me some motivation. This video will always be saved in my phone. ThankYou!!
Thank you. This made me cry. Like a relief kind of cry. Thank you.
Good advice, R.
I have issues every week trying to understand what I'm supposed to do and I keep beating myself up thinking that I should be traveling more right now and making adventures out of everything... But I forget that I'm 22 years old... I wonder if anybody else my age has this same issue of panicking all the time, having regrets and forgetting that we're still so young.
I know my passion. To help people, have adventures, and share a message of happiness. I'll get there soon enough. In the meantime, it's nice to have role models like you, Raya, to keep the fire under me burning.
Hi I'm Alan,
I am 22 and I'm also constantly beating myself up for the same things. I realized I was doing this and started taking the right steps to leading a happy life and just finding happiness. You'll find your passion too! I wish you all the luck in the world on your journey!
Hi I'm Alan I'm 20 and in college but have no idea what I want to do in my live.... I haven't declared a major, so I've basically been taking pointless undergrad for almost 3 years now. I think I'm going to take a year off and do a volunteering project to give me time and reflect while also helping those in need. I hope my plans go through and Americorps NCCC accepts me.
I’m 19 and not in college and don’t really plan on it because I have serious mental health issues. Even though I’m pretty high functioning at times
How are y'all feeling and doing now? (three years later)
Love the humming bird analogy so true. Really loved and resinated with this video xxx
Raya, I've never seen anyone as understanding with this issue as you are. Thank you for this, I very much needed to hear it.
this is so relevant, it's just SO difficult to know what you want to do for the rest of your life. Deciding degrees and everything ah, I can't 😩
I love how much positivity you spread Raya!! ;)
Wow I love the hummingbird analogy!
Great video! I'm currently a senior in college and I definitely struggle with feeling frustrated because it seems like all of my friends have a clear plan for their future whilst I'm not particularly drawn to any one thing, so it's really comforting to know that I'm not alone :)
Thank you so much Raya for this video, i'm 21 y.o and feeling exactly like you described, i'm lost and don't know what I want to do, it's really hard to deal with but your words comforted me and convinced me to try harder and keep pushing to discover new things !
thank you so much for this! I've really been feeling lost lately.
im 34,I still don't know what to do and it is frustrating :-( I do like to play drums, but I know I can not live off of that. Having two kids, a sick wife and no studies,I feel lost. Greetings from Puerto Rico
I am 40! I don't know what to do, either. For many years I would love to become a famous musician, too. but that's difficult.
@mosesjoness I haven't found out anything yet....
Keep your head up!
@RayaWasHere I am 29 and I definitely feel like this. I have younger siblings that are always asking me what I am doing with my life. Why am I giving up I am not I am stuck and don’t know what my passion is. This video was definitely a mood booster and uplifting. Thank you.
You literally just spoke my mind Raya. Love how real you are, needed this positive message today. Cheers!
Huge thank-you for sharing that video. It actually made me cry, didn't see that coming but her talk was so good!
In the meantime, I keep working on my English for me to have a good conversational skill to travel throughout the world. At least that's something that I like to do, which is learning English. Thank you for reading that text until here. We'll find what really interests us and if we don't find it, try to be happy without causing so much damage in the world. Your life is going to worth it. Don't be afraid of life. Live it.
I didn't know about "Hummingbirds". I've just learned about "Scanners"(people who are interested in many different things) and "Divers" (people who are interested in one specific thing and love to become an expert in that) and figured out that I'm definitely a Scanner.
Thanks for making this, Raya!! :)
I have only commented once on a CZcams video before, but I just wanted to say that I love your messages of positivity and love! There is so much sadness and negativity in the world, that your attitude and happiness is a beautiful thing. Thank you for all you do!
thank you so so much!
Great message Raya!
Well said Raya :)
I resonate with this so much. I am going through this right now and I am not sure I have ever felt this low. Slowly, I am digging myself out of this hole and these videos give me strength. Thank you.
Thanks Raya! This is a really inspiring message and your honesty shines through. So glad you found this platform to share your message!
Thank you so much for this video. I related deeply to everything you said because I’ve had those same thoughts and existential fears swimming through my head for a long time. I’m the only one of my friends who has this uncertainty about my career path, so hearing someone else echo all those same feelings is a big comfort. Here’s to the future!
I needed to hear something like this today. Thanks Raya, much love from Colombia!
Thanks Raya! The world needs more people like you :)
Thank you Raya, I really needed to hear this right now. I've struggled all through my twenties feeling like I HAVE to find a career. Everytime i've tried a job and it's not worked out I've felt like a failure. Thank you x
Wow. I've been googling and researching for YEARS and honesty, this is the most valuable advice I've seen. Thank you :)
This was like perfectly timed for my life at the moment. I'm just finally coming to grips with but still struggling with some of the points you made in this video and it just made me feel so much more validated that someone else has the exact same views. Thanks Raya!
😍😍😍 I'm 21, live in France, studying law and getting my bachelor degree. I have NO idea where my life is going only know that I want to be happy and passionate about what I do and being able to live comfortably. This video was very helpful, made me feel ok not knowing about my future :D Thank you Raya :)
Thank you Raya this was really encouraging
THANK YOU THANK YOU and THANK YOU!
I've just watched the Elizabeth Gilbert talk... maaannn, I cried SO much... I don't know how to thank you enough! Much love! Have a great day!
Thank you so much for the reminder! Have felt like this for years and just recently learned that it's ok to not know what my 1 passion is. I have so many. Thanks again. I needed this! Have a lovely day ☀️
I just found your channel, and I'm so happy I did! Thank you for sharing your life and your positive outlook!! You're definitely an inspiration
I just want to thank you. Your words were so uplifting so thank you.
This was so comforting! Everything you said I've felt at different times even before graduating college, thank you for sharing
Thank you so much!! I was doubting myself, but I’m gonna keep trying new things
Thank you for this and for you Raya!!! So insightful, encouraging and extremely well delivered. I feel inspired and I'm so excited for tomorrow, next week and the rest of my life, whatever it has in store.
Great video friend. You're a good advice giver!
+MyNamesChai thank you so much friend! 😄
RayaWasHere were the same tho I'm male and u have over 100k subs that's something to be proud of. If u can achieve that u can do anything. I am so lost its been 4 years and I haven't had any clarity since graduating high school
this video wasn’t helpful in the slightest bit
Thank you so much for this video! I'm currently in the situation about deciding what to do in life and you make the pressure a bit smaller and myself less afraid, love your videos
This video resonated with me so much. SO helpful to put out there into the world. Thank you Raya!
Thanks so much for making this video. Liz Gilbert and that talk is one of my faves.
I definitely needed to be reminded of this since this completely relates to my life, so thank you for such great advice Raya. It's nice to know I'm not the only one!
Thank you, Raya!!
Thank you for this video which is typically a rare topic and not an easy one to talk about. Yet you made it so real and on-point that I could resonate with it really well. Thank you Raya for the helpful advices!
thank you so much for sharing this video and liz gilbert's link! I have found so much love, comfort, and light in both of your messages. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for what you do.
Thank you for this video. I really needed to hear this message right now. Thank you so much.
I needed this video right now. And that hummingbird analogy is perfect
Sooooo... I just watched your video 5 times in a row. You have such a great timing and you're such an inspiration. Thank you so much.
I am in such a quarter life crises right now. I am studying cultural anthropology, I am in my last year there. And I want to be an author, I want to travel, I want to explore, I want to adventure and I want to discuss about important things and make the world a happier and better place. But where to start? I wrote books, I sent them to publishers and they said 'no' to me. This hurts. It feels like I am not good enough, but this is not true. If I can do anything it is writing.
My time at university is nearly over and I have no idea what to do afterwards because my passions are nothing you would consider as a job. Travelling, reading, writing, blogging and vlogging CAN work as a job. But you need luck and connections. I am working my ass off to have at least a little success with my book blog, my travel blog and my writing, but sometimes it feels like it isn't enough. You feel like a failure, just like you said.
But you're right. A typical job wouldn't make me happy so I shouldn't settle for that. Giving up isn't an option.
Thank you for reminding me. Thank you for being an inspiration and for motivating me. I needed this video so bad right now. Thank you so much.
Keep on the good work!
You can do it, just keep trying and you'll find your passion. You'll find what you love.😊💜
I'm struggling through my quarter-life crises currently, so thank you so so so so much for sharing this. I found my "passion" but now I'm just drifting - so this video came at the perfect time.
thank you so much for making this video! it feels so authentic and undogmatic, so heartfelt and pure. moreover, hearing you say this makes it seem so natural and obvious, but it is so easy to get distracted by opinions and dogmae of other (loud) people and even of ones inner critic. that is why, recently, i try to digitally detox once a week. i forgot this week. so this is what i am gonna do tomorrow. and listen to my heart. so good though that i didn't do it today or else i would have missed this video!
Gosh Raya, this is what I needed to hear in a very long time. Thank you so much!
You're welcome, glad I could help! :)
Absolutely LOVE the hummingbird metaphor! Such beautiful and inspirational words. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you Raya
So glad I stumbled upon this today. I'm 22, almost 23, and feeling quite lost. I'm trying to figure it all out. Thank you for making this video :)
Wow, that helps a lot. Thanks for sharing Raya.
Thank you for this video, Raya!
I just found this video, and I needed this so much! I had a mini mental break down this morning and this gave me hope! I am currently at this point in life where I have no idea of what to do next or what my career plan is I enjoy doing so many things!
You've changed my life! THANK YOU FOR THAT!
Thanks Raya. This video means a lot to me.
Thank you so much for sharing that video. It really made me feel a lot better! Thank you
Thank you for sharing that talk Raya! It feels so good to hear that it's ok to not have that passion. Way to often I felt lost for not fitting into this model. You and Elizabeth help a lot!
Very inspiring video! Thank you so much! 🌸🌸🌸
Really needed to hear this thank you for making this.
thanks so much for this!! I really needed this!!!
I’m so glad I watched this video.
Even if I have teary eyes right now, I feel at peace because a moment ago I was torn with thoughts that I’m lost and a failure for not being able to figure my life out and be successful.
I’m glad you found what you love doing. I hope I find mine too.
God bless you!
Thank you so much Raya for recording this video, this is something I really needed to hear. Keep on living the adventure! X
This was surprisingly refreshing. Thank you for the great vid!
I can relate to this so much, I'm in senior year and I have to choose what I want to do next year, if I want to go to university or not, and I've been struggling with that. All my friends know what they want to do and they have their passion and I don't and it's kinda hard on me. But thank you, this video really helped 😊 good to know I'm not the only one
Lovin' the positive vibes Raya ✌️
Thanks for the words of encouragement Raya! :)
I love this kind of videos from you!!! they help sooo much, I'm am exactly in the situation you're describing.
thank you so much!! this really gave me hope and made me feel less worried
Thank you so much for making this video! hugs!!
Thank you Raya for being so honest and sharing. This made me cry because I feel lost. I realised almost 7 years ago now that I was in the wrong career and since then I've done countless courses in finding your passion and life purpose. I've watched other people find theirs along the way and I still have not. I have learnt a lot about myself and why I haven't been happy and what my must have values are but I still don't have my mission. I was starting to think that there was something wrong with me. Your honesty is really refreshing to see thank you 💕Xx
Really happy for the new video!! You really inspired me atm THANK YOU
I love that Hummingbird quote its beautiful. Thanks for the video, made me feel so much better!
This is exactly what I needed to hear right now, and you even posted this video on my birthday! You're amazing and I wish I could travel with you and travel as you do!
Thanks for this lovely.
Sending light and love
This was exactly what I needed. Thank you.
This is so amazingly inspiring! Your "Quarter Life Crisis" video from awhile ago was one of the things that helped to inspire me to sell all of my stuff and start backpacking the world a few months ago, and making CZcams videos! Thank you, Raya!
That sounds so incredibly amazing!
+Dorothy Tarasul Thank you! It has been! :D
thank you for this video Raya
totally agree with..this video really help me to think positive and less worry about what m gonna do in next 3 years.
thanks Raya.
I really appreciate this video Raya. I recently didn't get into the graduate schools I wanted to that I've been working towards for the past few years so I'm at a crossroads on what path in life I want to take right now. It's very comforting to know I'm not alone in it all. Much thanks!
Wow, i was in the middle of a crisis about uni, whether i should listen to my heart or to what others thought, and your words really helped me!! Also i hope one day i get to do what you do now, it's amazing 😊😊 x
Loved this and so true! It's always about money and about a career.. But that's not what's most important in life.. Love the message!
I felt so lost and this is exactly what I needed to hear! I completely relate to the way you felt and this just really takes my guilt away. Thank you so so so so much❤️
You are such a positive influence Raya!
This is exactly what I needed Raya, thank you
So real and true Raya, thank you for such a rich video.
Thanks a lot, definitely reassuring to hear.
You're one of my inspirations Raya! To make videos you love, to travel, to live the life you want.💞❤️I just freaking love how real you are.
Raya. I actually love you. Thank you for this. I really became emotional when you spoke about feeling like a failure as I am now 20 and still struggling to find my passion- but after this video, I have realised that it's OK not to have one right now. You are such an inspiration to so many- I hope you don't underestimate you're influence on so many on CZcams - because we certainly don't. Love you Ray, thank you!🌸💖
Thank you so so so so much for this video, I really needed to hear this pep talk ❤️
You're so inspirational, this is just what i needed to hear! Thank you so much for this!!!
Thank you this has helped me greatly and motivated me even if it's only temporarily and has taught me to look at life differently. So many people have asked me what I want to do and I've always have had to answer I don't know. Thank you this makes me happier.
