Watts was a villian that lived and died without ever interacting with team rwby. Think about that, the villians have defeated more villians than the heroes
He might not have died, but yeah crwby is really dragging this story out, making it thin. Why fight villains when they can just fight each other lol.

What really solidified for me that the main 4 characters are not important to the story is that they never even met Watts, one of the main bad guys, they only fought Cinder one time in the last 4 years, they fought hazel one time off screen (so why would you count that?), and fought Tyrian one time 4 years ago. What personal connection do these characters have to the villain's? Why are they more special than any other group? Why do they deserve to be the main characters? The writers sure don't know.
What really gets me about the Tyrion fight is how utterly useless the kids were, and how little they learned from it. Tyrion mopped the floor with them, and he was just playing with them. It became abundantly clear how outclassed they were when the goto "strategy" of supercharge Nora and let her sort it out, did nothing. Tyrion stopped that juiced up attack like he didn't even feel it. So what does Ruby do when Qrow starts fighting equally with this guy that kicked all their asses. Try to interfere. Even though she only serves to slow him down and costs him the fight. Then, when Ozpin says they need to get into fighting shape, she responds: "we already know how to fight" as if she completely forgot the ass whopping they took against just *one* member of Salem's inner circle. She learned *nothing* and was still blissfully ignorant of the gaping chasm between her and her enemies.

That honestly seriously angers me. That and the fact that the characters never grow or improve. They’re just handed wins as the plot demands it.
The only reason for me sticking around is to see how this story ends. The heroes have lost twice now. If they don't grow after this, I don't think they ever will.
I can’t bring myself to stick around anymore. It’s just gotten too bad for me to tolerate it. If you can, more power to you.

With the destruction of Atlas, team RWBY have done more harm to the world than Salem ever has over centuries of being alive. For all their bullshit about how they "have to save Atlas *and* Mantle" they are directly responsible for the destruction of both. Why did they take the relic from the vault? It was actively safer where it was because the only for anyone to get it was by using Penny. Because they had to follow up on making Penny "a real girl"? Why? Wasn't the whole point of Penny's character that she was just fine the way she was? That she was just as human as anyone else regardless of her metal bits? They brought her back, just so they perma-kill her. To what end? It was beyond pointless. By taking out the relic, now it's in the open to be snatched up. Like it was at the end of the volume. Way to go 'heroes'! Why did they deposit a group of civilians in what is well known to be a ridiculously dangerous desert? Why not literally anywhere else? Now you have a whole cities worth of unarmed, untrained civilians in a wasteland infested with grimm who are currently eating them. Anywhere else in the world would have been better! The worst part is, team RWBY will not be held accountable for their actions. They never are. Nobody is going point out how the girls ruined these peoples lives. Instead, they'll be praised and rewarded, just like always! For fuck's sake, Cinder loses more to her own stupidity and incompetence than she does to team RWBY!

The people of Atlas and Mantle also come from what is essentially a tundra, just plopping them in the middle of a desert would be like taking someone from Alaska and placing them in the middle of the Sahara.
@@thomasraines1396 Not to mention those that are accustomed to a privileged lifestyle with no experience in harsh conditions. And the children in much the same boat. Not even bringing the elderly or the sick into the equation. When you lay out all the factors, it's painfully obvious how stupid the idea was.

The inclusion of the books (which are meant to be 100% canon as far as I’m aware) make it even worse: there’s sinkholes, several different types of Grimm (some that are basically the sand worms from “Tremors”, “Beetlejuice” or “Dune”) and the fact that dying of heat stroke is a very real possibility (Fox worries about during a fight).
They don’t even portray this as “we have nowhere else to put them” type of scenario, they just decide to dump them all there.
This right here, is almost exactly my thoughts of the team as a whole. An incompetent leader who the show thinks is always in the right, the only decent member of the team with jobber stats, a member that could've been an intresting character from the very beginning, but fell flat on it's face, and a bitch.
All of that and more are the reasons why I prefer Team JNPR and Oscar a lot more in comparison (Even if they have flaws of their own)
Honestly, Team RWBY could’ve been great. Instead, they’ve just gotten worse and worse as time he’s gone on while Team JNPR and Oscar have only gotten better.
It's so weird how RWBY feels like side characters next to JNPR (or JNR now). RWBY is stagnant while their pals change and get closer to the main story! It's baffling! Great vid btw :)
It's a failure when the supposed side characters feel more like main characters... It feels like squandered potential.
While my friends and I were watching, we had our gripes with JNPR, or JNR as well, but they were certainly far less than RWBY. Personally, Nora and Ren are the only 'main' characters I'd stick around for, as everyone else just has way too many problems. I didn't even mention in this video that Qrow went from my favorite to my least favorite in just one volume.

Honestly, you perfectly summed up every single issue I’ve had with the show since Monty’s death. How they’ve completely massacred and ruined Team RWBY. Especially our girl Yang. Them ruining her and forcing her into a ship with Blake hurt most of all.
There’s one character I think was done worse, and that’s Qrow, and I’ll definitely do a video on why he became my least favorite sometime in the future, but I need to do a positive video next after talking about this train wreck.

Bro, thank you. I’ve been throwing shade at Team RWBY in a lot of my videos and I’ve actually been working on my own opinion of this topic. It’s nice to see someone else who has this viewpoint of Team RWBY.
I’ve had issues with team RWBY since Vol 4 and it’s slowly been growing. My preference as a writer, and my favorite part of any story, is the characters. I love characters, especially when there is a team of characters with differing personalities that has to work together. That was pretty much the first few volumes, but now all the characters have melded into one character since they’ve “developed.”
Weiss is the only one who actually has developed, and the writers just pretend that the rest of the characters have developed so they can have drama. So many things come out of nowhere that it is just annoying and insulting to see. The “Hero’s” scenes aren’t interesting anymore cause I’m just watching ten different versions of the same character agree with itself.

1. Blake has not once apologized for doing like Ted Cruz during the Texas ice storm back in V3
2. Watts died without ever having met any of the heroes
3. Emerald was forgiven for her role in causing the Fall of Beacon shit easy, and never even apologized to Penny for causing her first death.

2. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if CRWBY went and revealed that Watts had survived. I personally find it absolutely unlikely, but I don't think that the idea of the show pulling some Age of Calamity BS is out of the question either.
3. Dude, I totally forgot about Vine. The guy was barely a character, and then he just died Hiroshi Sato style, without having ever made any semblance of an impact. We didn't even get to see him using his weapon until Volume 8, for crying out loud!

Honestly, Blake is doing the same thing she did with Adam but with Yang.
Making unnecessary promises, feeling bad for what she does even when its not her fault, neglecting everyone while focusing on the person she's idolizing because of their strength or passion.
All while Yang doesn't make any promises to her, does whatever she wants and expecting Blake to be there for her when she needs it.
Ever since the got back together their characters have faulted. Blake no longer cares about Faunus rights and I don't think Yang ever cared about it. Not to mentiin that their goals contridict each other. Plus they both have nothing in common with each other. Basically their relationship is more based on guilt than it is mutual attraction.
Ecit: Also to note when people get close to someone they tend to change or take on the others habits. For them it seems more like Blake is enabling Yang.
If you compare them to Blacksun, Blake has taken some of Sun's habit and Sun has changed when we saw him in Vol 1.
Plus if anyone has seen the second episode of Vol 9, you can tell that Yang hasn't really changed her habits.

Yes. Yes, they are. They weren’t like that when Monty was alive, but they are now under the idiot writers who know nothing about the characters of how to write them without Monty around.
I would appreciate the story a whole lot more if it did what “Spec Ops: The Line” did but as it stands right now RWBY is “Spec Ops” if we were still meant to see Walker as the hero of the story.
Ruby is basically Captain Walker from “Spec Ops”.
Weiss does absolutely nothing but jobb, the only times she wins against non Grimm enemies is when the story contorts itself to let her win: her destroying the mech in Volume 3 is let down by the fact that Coco (a character whose whole thing is making her bullets more powerful) can’t kill it, her fight with Marrow only lasted as long as it did because he didn’t want to fight, her fight with Cinder at the end of Volume 8 only lasted as long as it did so Jaune could very slowly kill Penny, of all the fights she should’ve definitively lost to Cinder but she didn’t even though Cinder had supposedly learned her lesson.
Blake’s little arc with Adam is ruined by the fact Adam himself flat out tells one of his grunts to “forget it.” in regards to looking for her after she defects from the White Fang: he didn’t give a fuck about her, it’s only at the Fall of Beacon where he’s turned into the abusive ex caricature. Adam had no reason to be in Volume 6, he could’ve and should’ve been taken out in Volume 5 but Blake let’s him run away from Haven. He could’ve been dealt before he even attempted to run off. After Adam dies she’s literally just “there”
Yang left both Ruby and Qrow to burn inside the farmhouse in Volume 6, but she was perfectly willing to grab Blake’s hand and run out, she doesn’t even try to go back in and see if they’re alright.
She also whines to Ironwood about lying about Amity being finished to lure out Watts (a plan that worked)
The stupidity with the “Yeah Ruby…” line is made all the worse with the fact the cheap melodrama between Blake and Yang comes out of nowhere, hell when they reunite Blake cowers in on herself and looks extremely stand offish as if she’s done anything to feel that way.

I stand my ground when I say Team JNPR made better main characters than Team RWBY.
Better team dynamic between themselves.
Better writing potential regarding their personal trials, growth and goals.
Better chemistry with most of the villains. "Such as Roman being a foil to Jaune regarding morality, heroes and personal views, or Neo and Pyrrha having different perspectives on wanting to be free from what others expect them to be, with Neo killing her family and joining Roman and Pyrrha staying with her team because she is seen as Pyrrha over the Prodigy of Mistral."
The sad part is that Team RWBY actually *COULD* have been really, truly great main characters. But only if you actually *DO* something with them outside of using them to forcibly push the plot and shipping bullshit along. The potential was there when Monty was alive, but it died as soon as he did.
I have watched and forgot the series existed several times. I dislike how they didn't even make BlackSun a canon ship, and bent two the stans wanting Bumblebee, and then saying "Oh no, they were _always_ a couple. No. They weren't. Yang is my favourite character, and they don't want to make her character grow from the "angry young teen" Trope, and it's annoying. I like the series up until volume 4. I can't believe that volume 9 had to take two years to complete. 🤦🏻♀🙄

I feel that a way to make Adam more interesting is to have him be more manipulative. Say for instance the reason why him and Blake got together was to murder her parents and blame it on atlas. Perhaps have him manipulate characters like Sienna to get more power in the White fang. In other words you turn him into Anton Slavic from Tiberian Sun

4:30 I remember a CZcams video talking about Roman's death. And how the writers wrote themselves into the opposite of a corner with how he gave a speech about the real world being cruel and got eaten.
Ruby could have agreed with him, losing some innocence/idealism. Or she could directly reject it.
But somehow RT managed to do neither as they have pretty much never addressed Roman's death afterwards (outside of Neo's "plotline").

This is the result of trying to please your fans too much and bumblebee is a prime example of that if you ask. I have no beef with homosexual couples but for this case I do since I personally always saw RWBY as a bit like a sisterhood and Bumblebee completely upsets the balance of what the team is supposed to be. Now sure they have couples on other teams in the RWBY series and the only reason I don't care about the other teams is simply because they aren't the main characters if that makes sense.
According to the man himself Monty Oum before his death, that was what Team RWBY was supposed to be. A sisterhood. Note that the shipping garbage and terrible forced writing only started after his death.

As a member of the RWBY fandom. It's a bit ironic but one of the reasons why I'm so into the fandom is because RWBY has a ton of mistakes and wasted potential. This leads to people easily being able to write pretty good fanfiction about it. There's so much potential, and people can easily see and imagine how it could play out, and some of them actually write good stories about it. As well as the fan animations, and the original teams. I like RWBY less as a show, and more as a template.
Now, as someone who reads fanfiction, yes, the chance that any you start reading is good is in the single-digit percentages. But if you're willing to trudge through the river of filth, you might find some gold. And obviously, it'd be better if the show itself was better and fulfilled more of the potential it showed.

At the rate things are going, I completely agree. But, if RT goes under, then RWBY will be in the hands of Warner Discovery’s subsidiary. And you know for a fact they won’t do anything with it. They’ll just hold onto it and keep it in cold storage until they can sell it to the highest bidder for a bargain.
For me volume 4 was rwbys last good volume and that's only because of all the scene time RNJR got.
It was slow and a bit clunky, but there wasn't anything awful in it, and it was definitely the last volume I at least mostly enjoyed.

I'd argue Volume 6 was fairly good as well. But the whole Cordovin thing brought it down. The Apathy was probably the best Grimm we got to date minus the Hound.
I mean, to be fair, I've been rooting for Neo sense v2, but yea, agreed, the antagonists are more likable than the hero's. Thanks to neos book, Roman Holiday, Neo officially is a deeper character than all of team rwby combined

Neo is the best character and she doesn't even have a line of dialogue.
I tried to get into RWBY once, but I just couldn't do it. The storytelling felt rushed and the fights while impressive, didn't get my heart pounding like RvB's from S8 - S10. The reason being is that we got to know the characters beforehand, we learned what their personality was, and what their relationship with the other characters were like. Another reason being relatability, in RWBY everybody is a good fighter and had superpowers, but RvB's characters aren't the best fighters, they don't have any powers, and they aren't that bright. Their normal people who end up getting pulled into adventures wether they want to or not and come out the winners, proving the nay sayers wrong. Basically, the RvB characters (S1 - S17) are Rocky and the RWBY characters are Ivan Drago.
Believe me you are not losing out on anything really. The only stuff in regards to RWBY I could recommend as somebody who watches the show are fanfics and rule34.

It's funny cause no one on team RWBY JJNR have actually DEFEATED a villain.
Cinder, Neo, Mercury and Emerald are still around if this was a better written show CMEN would've been defeated permanently by volume 5.
It's reached the point that they let Emerald join cause she's scared of Salem not because she regrets killing people, cause she's scared of her new boss.
They let the villain that is single handedly caused the fall of Beacon, is the reason Phyra killed Penny by accident joing them and they f-ing forgive her. Lol wut

You have someone's friend/sister/mother fight a major character while Team RWBY doesnt do anything important.
I think i will not watch RWBY anymore and watch reviews. At least people that make the reviews are most of the time entertaining that show will ever be.
I will only watch rwby from now on if youtubers say its good, i want the finale to be spoiled and I want to hear that its actually amazing or im not watching it.
More like RW&BB. They really are unlikable.. Weiss is still decent but just HAD to continue this long going trait that Team RWBY as awhole has. Which is not apologizing when she's in the wrong. I love her scene with her brother.. but it did paint her as unlikable because she didn't do anything to earn her brother's love. He did it all.

In my opinion team, John should have been the main character. They were more interesting than team RWBY and had actual character development.
To be fair, Team RWBY were good and interesting characters before Monty’s death. But yeah, Jaune always felt more like the main character than them. That is how bad the writing is that a male side character feels more like the protagonist in a girl power show

It’s astonishing that the cast became the best to the worst thing in their own show as soon as vol 4 hits. And the worst part is how the show is constantly trying to tell you to root for them. You know it’s bad if the character who are trying to (or force) make a villain (Ironwood) is actually a better hero than the so call “heroes”. Excellent video. :)

When I watched volumes 1-3 I really enjoyed it I was always anxious to see what happens next then in volume 5 when Blake is slapping the shit out of sun I'm like what the hell happened i like the action also volume 4 feels boring except for Weiss character arc that i love the rest of the other volumes doesn't make me feel interested anymore after volume 4 I lost the desire to watch this show the new outfits in volume 7 are pretty tacky like they couldn't give the girls some new colors along with some moderation or something 🤔

I remember reading a Rwby White rose and bumblebee doujin that was leagues better with the lore and character than ANYTHING the writers put together. Like holy shit, it was yuri but did so much more with the characters and lore.

After seeing a few clips from volume 9 as of right now... Yeah things aren't getting better for this show at all. This show is nothing but a walking corpse of was once an awesome show with great fights and cool ass weapons with a loveable cast... All that is fucking gone now and it makes me believe that these writers and rooster teeth never understood what monty wanted for the show to be when going forward.
In all honesty I've seen better fan animations from some people in the community that LITERALLY feels like volume 1 and 2 because they have respect for monty and what he created... Guess RT can't see why people loved the show to begin with.
Sadly, that is way too fucking accurate. This show is *NOTHING* like it was when Monty was alive. It’s to the point where it’s basically a completely different show. These people obviously don’t know jack shit about what Monty wanted.
Sounds about right to me. Speaking of fan animations, my friends and I are working on fanfiction stories that we later plan on turning into fan animations. Although I’m very self-conscious of my current one because it’s my first full length RWBY story and I’m not sure how good it is.

You and me both. I mean, a lot of the post-Monty *characters* have potential if better written, but the writing and plot? Complete and utter trash that would need to be rewritten from the ground up. Hell, most of the fanbase has moved on from canon RWBY. There aren’t *NEARLY* as many people paying to watch it anymore and even less that actually *CARE* anymore.

Great video, really well put together and you did a good job supporting your points. Yang was probably my favourite character during the early seasons, but for many of the reasons you listed I just cannot like her now. Raven and Crow are characters I also think have been absolutely demolished over time, all the potential Raven has surrounding her just evaporated and crow feels like a hollow man but not because of great characterisation. In volume 8 I really thought the show was going to help give Ruby and Blake a stronger relation over something happening with Yang when she fell into the abyss, but now we know it was just a portal that idea is out the window. I will likely ride the show out to the end as I have seen it this far anyway, but expectations are about as low as they can go.
I personally cannot continue, there's only so much I can stand these characters when I disagree with almost everything they say and do. I'm just confused why team RWBY takes the relics out of their vault. They don't have use for it. The lamp was taken because the Spring Maiden opens it and runs away, but they could just stores the Staff back after using it, it's not like the vault will be destroyed when Atlas falls because it's magical.
I used to think they run around the Remnant to collect the relics because they want to use it, summons the gods of Remnant and hopefully have them reversed Salem's immortality since it would judge the people if Ozpin collects them, they didn't say anything about other people collectinv them.
Also, I just thought about it : The gods of Remnant seems a bit stupid since they punished someone with immortality? If they're just a friendly person, maybe it's a punishment, but if it's someone who is gathering an army to fight the gods, then immortality might have been a grace since they have forever to get their revenge on the gods. I kind of forgot the order, but even if Salem gained her immortality before she gathers her army, it would be wise of them to stripped that immortality away from her after she fights them back. It's just stupid, the should just die and give Remnant to the god of ever after(where the gods come from).
One reason I agree with the fan assertions that the Two Brothers are more at fault than Salem is for Salem's evil and threat level is because of what you just said - the Brothers' curse is the reason why she's still a threat to Remnant in the present day after the Mk. II humans and the Faunus evolved and why she's become so much eviler over time, and the Brothers could've stripped her immortality and put her out of her misery when it became clear at the Mk. I humans' rebellion that their attempt to teach her a lesson, which was the whole purpose of them making her immortal, had failed. Instead, the Brothers left her to rot in her immortality on an empty world, leading to the global threat level that she poses to all of Remnant today.
@@ecthox-1mork909 Yeah, and supposedly they do that so she can't be with Ozma in her death. But then they give Ozma reincarnation and just forget why they cursed Salem with immortality. It's mind blowing how the writers can introduced a cool concept and betrayed it just a few minutes after.
