- On This episode I headed out in the front yard to install this beautiful pergola that had lived in our garage in boxes for nearly a year and a half! This thing is awesome! According to the instructions, it takes 3 people 9 hours. That's pretty accurate! We did this the day after Christmas. This kit and all the parts needed are available on Amazon! I Just assembled the 16 X 12 Beaumont pergola. It is pretty cool. It took me a couple days because I chose to stain and seal the boards prior to assembly. I took one of the boards to my local Benjamin Moore store to have it analyzed because it didn't seem to be sealed. I put water on it and it did not bead, but absorbed into the wood. The manager told me that it was not sealed, or poorly sealed and should be treated prior to assembly. I wanted a darker stain anyway, so it was no big deal. Also, you will need to pay close attention to the orientation of the small pilot holes on the corner post and cross members. The instructions make no mention of theses holes or the correct orientation. I had to figure them out on my own. I do highly recommend this product otherwise.
The slats that go across have pretty thick screws, I have to drill holes in them, 5/16x5 1/2. Did you experience the same?

How did the clear roof turn out? How does it sound when it rains? How does the water drain off?
We haven't yet put a roof on ours... probably tackling that over spring break. :)

Nope. It’s not attached to the house. If you are a part of an HOA, prob not lol. We are not.
