What we need is tech similar to a borescope, where we could passively (without electronics) transmit the image from the rear into the front of the eye, through some kind of optical fiber.

great review, entierly confirms my experience with the glasses..the real downside is that they don't give the safety i was looking for, so i double check by turning the head, which basically renders them useless

This is a pretty fair review. I love the concept and don't mind having helped to fund this idea, but I actually think these glasses make me less safe, as they are a distraction from the traffic all around me. While I'm trying to see what is behind me I'm losing track of what is ahead, which is of much greater concern. Hopefully the designers will learn from this, and go on to create an improved version 2

Thanks man. I was gonna purchase these. But i assumed incorrectly that it was a perfect mirror image and it clearly is not. To me- that would need to be the case for me to purchase them. I currently have handlebar mirrors but they don't work too well either because i have to have my body and head in a specific position to see my blind spot and riding is not the same as being in a set driving position. When you're on the move and have to make right and left adjustments- it's hard to do if you have to readjust your shoulder height to get that optimal view of what is approaching from behind to my blind spot. At this point- a rear view camera with stabiliser, fed to a screen upfront or to smart glasses, may be best. I know there are motorcycle helmets with smart visors that do this- but a motorcyle helmet is a bit overkill to ride a bicycle with. Perhaps the tech can be applied to a cycling helmet and half visor with a stabilised camera that attaches to the seat post or rear rack. My current cycling helmet was a kickstarter project purchase: the Livall Evo21 smart helmet. It comes with waterproof rear warning and auto brake detect integrated lights. It also has a front warning light. There is also a handlebar wireless remote for the integrated lights. I also have the latest version of winglights. They are magnetic and screw on to handlebars. White facing front, red facing back and become amber indicators with a small push of a button with the pinky finger. Like the helmet, they are waterproof and rechargeable (previous models of the winglights were not rechargeable and only had the indicator amber feature). The red and white back and front feature is great to give other road users and indication of your width, particularly where low light riding is concerned. Other road users do appreciate it and do give me space and allow me to turn when i am clearly indicating. Kickstarter and others remain great places for cycling attachments and kit. I also purchased the Nori lights for the wheels but I'm looking to buy a new bike before attaching them but the reviews look good. I have also supported the Arclight bike pedals and they should be delivered in the Spring. Stay safe, be safe and be visible.

Great review, I like it when reviewers point out the problems with new product. The concept is cool though. How do you think the narrow field of view can be improved in the next iteration of the glasses? Extend the angled edge farther out?

Even though I am not a biker, I like the idea, but sadly it didn't work as it's supposed to be, and it's really overpriced for safety sunglasses.
    Thx Chris, keep going ❤️

actual cycling mirrors, which go on the handlebar, and cost $12 and aren't washed out in bright light.

Some people complain about a double reflection. Did you experience that? What exactly is it?

They are ugly but they don't look ugly for a cycling. They fit the oversized sporty look
