I absolutely love you picked up on the subtle 'green' color of the Matrix. Not many people notice that so specifically.
Watched this at the theaters in 1999. It was a great experience.
Same. I didn't even walk out of the theater. I floated.
Same here, I went with a couple of friends. One of those friends brought his younger brother and when we left the theater we were all blown away and had a serious mind-high. When asking the little brother what he thought he answered "Nothing really happened, it wasn't really exciting" to which our reaction was just standing there looking at him with our mouths open. He didn't get what actually happened and was just too confused to enjoy the movie. 🤣
Agreed, story time, it actually started to show in cinema just before I moved with my parents to other city, I thought “eh… another shitty movie, I’ll pass” and I did not watch it before the move but after I moved it was in a local cinema and there was a free week for schools and such, we went with a class and holy shit it blew me away, I have seen it again the next day and it was actually first DVD I ever bought. Still love it to this day. Also for some reason my friends could not comprehend the notion of world inside a computer, having watched Tron a million times I had no such issues ;)
At the end when Neo made the call and then flew away, I was just sitting in my seat and being just like - wow... :)
I'm only 17 minutes into the video but I have to say: You're incredibly smart and observative. I appreciate that a lot!
I have never enjoyed watching someone figure out the plot of a movie so thoroughly. That was precious. It’s one of the all time great sci-fi stories that messes with you on the most fundamental level. 😂
Neo knew the term 'déjà vu
' because it is a common phrase that means 'that feeling you sometimes get that you've experienced this exact moment before'. It isn't a term they made up. I love your reactions, your benevolent curiosity, and how emotionally invested you get when experiencing new music and movies.
Right. I’ve known the word since I was probably 6 or 7 years old, though I don’t think I experienced deja vú until my early teens.
Yes i know what it means - but I meant the reason - the reason that was familiar to him - the repeated cat appearance was because he was the one. he was supposed to have a familiar experience in the matrix because it was not his first rodeo - You get what i mean. It wasn't a mistake that he saw it - it was meant to be. Because he was the ONE> It shocked the others because only the one would have a deja vu experience - I hope it makes sense.
It was the reaction - De ja vu is a french word meaning to experience a familiar - prophecy - precognition. I was saying how he knew to describe the prophecy as a Dejavu as opposed to calling it strange. (LOL... i was sucked in at that moment) lol. That's how i interpret it., It wasn't about the word... it was the meaning - the hidden meaning to have had that moment.
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O. I sort of get what you mean. Interesting theory and I love how you look into the meaning of these movies. The truth of the matter though is that the deja vu experience isn't specific to the one, but is experienced by everyone. People who haven't been freed and don't know the world is a simulation called the matrix experience deja vu, but dismiss it as just deja vu i.e. a weird experience you sometimes get in life. People who have been freed, know it's a simulation and use the matrix like Morpheus, Trinity, Switch, etc know the true ramifications of these experiences in the matrix and what they mean or imply. What's clever about the idea of the world being a simulation is the directors/writers of the movie have utilised the strange occurrences or feelings we have in real life as examples of faults or flaws in the matrix itself, which makes the idea or world in the movie seem more real and immersive because we, at home, think "wait...I've experienced deja vu too!". lol. Hence why when he said "oh! Deja vu" , they were all very familiar with the idea and what it means (as the audience does too) except they knew that it actually meant in the context of knowing the matrix is a simulation i.e. "it happens when they change something". It shocked/worried them because they suspected the thing that was "changed" was related to them being put into a trap or something, hence why they cocked their guns and started looking around as soon as it was suggested that deja vu occured. This ended up being true as the building's code has been altered such that most of the exits had been closed off (hence Mouse opening up the curtains and finding a bricked wall instead of a window). Therefore, people who have been freed and use the matrix like Morpheus, Trinity, Switch, etc are aware of these signals, like Deja Vu, to tip them off about things in the world to help them stay out of danger. Neo called it Deja vu only because it was exactly that: a moment that felt like it repeated itself. Nothing more. Though you were mistaken here, keep an eye out for these deeper meanings in the later films. Theorising about these movies is so fun :)
@@ScenecrlyK.S.O. Just made me think, you should check out the Final Destination movies, the first and second are the best.
The directors love to go really deep and meta for lack of a better word. Nearly everything is wrapped in parallels, multiple meanings and symbology. I mean like a crazy amount of symbology and word views. It very well could be the intent and gives me a another idea to mill over. Thank you
I have seen this movie atleast 15-20 times but I cried and laughed with you when I saw your reaction. You are so expressive and a with a lovely heart.
My late Father, who passed in 2002, felt that this was one of the most important movies, ever. I'm glad, I took him to see it.
His favorite line: "There's a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path."
He'd say, he "...felt that (he) had pieced together the map, but didn't have faith to walk in the territory."
He dived into further research, by reading "Simulacra And Simulation", by French Sociologist Jean Baudrillard, and more.
I have genuinely never seen anybody get so emotional watching the matrix.❤
The best qualities a reactor can have are becoming invested in the movies they're watching, and actually engaging with the stories they're seeing. Seems like a low bar, but so many on CZcams can't seem to manage it. You have both qualities to spare, and bring so much insight and intelligence to your reactions as well. Top notch.
You are too kind, thank you so much
This has got to be your best reaction yet. You were so engaged. Fun to see. I must've seen this film two dozen times at least.
This was just a delightful reaction. I loved every minute of it.
"There is no spoon" I absolutely loved your reaction and your closing thoughts, It was beautiful. Thank you so much, Girl.
This is my favorite Matrix reaction! I loved the film and will never be able to experience it for the first time again, so I like watching these reactions- you made me experience it again through your eyes and excitement. Thank you for that
YES! This movie was the perfect movie to end the 90s action genre. Just perfect. Thank you and much love from Sweden :)
And Merry Christmas to you and whoever else happens to read this!

It's so uncanny how adorable she is when during her movie reactions🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍
That lip quiver KILLS me every time. I just want to hug her lol
So adorable , genuine , smart , innocent , passionate .. its a pleasure to watch :)
@@carbuneskinny5797 I'd hug her all day if she'd like😊😊😊
I love your reactions, its crazy how you manage to process so much just by watching the opening sequence.
To answer your question about the reason for creating the Matrix, I think it was because they needed a way to keep the minds of the humans occupied while they were in the machines' battery farms. The matrix is something like a ongoing dream state, akin to keeping them in a perpetual coma, so that they wouldn't wake up and have to be discarded and they could be kept entirely unaware of what was actually going on in the world and with their bodies. Notice how Neo, when he 'woke' up, was disconnected from the system.
If you'd also like some background on how/why The Matrix came to be, I definitely recommend watching The Animatrix, particularly the segments called The Second Renaissance Part 1 & 2. A lot of people skip it, or just don't know about it entirely, but it helps answer a lot of questions from the first film.
The reason is that the Matrix was designed as a neural network for the machines, then WB said that was too complicated for the audience and told them to change it to batteries.
@@DertBagg It also makes sense why the Matrix is needed in the first place, if it was just batteries they could have just kept them asleep with no Matrix connection but since their purpose is to make use of their brain processing power then the Matrix existence makes sense being more interactive than a simple dream, keeping their minds active.
Neo is an anagram for One. Lots of people see this movie as a documentary, much like They Live. I enjoy your reactions ♥️
In all the times I've watched this movie I've never wondered how Cypher would know if they keep up their end of the deal if he can't remember anything. Haha, nice! I like when people show me there's some new angle to things that I'm otherwise familiar with. Morpheus said 'the body cannot live without the mind'. Morpheus did not say that if you die in the Matrix you die in real life. I take that to mean that if someone didn't automatically accept their Matrix death then they aren't really dead yet. Since Neo had freed his mind by the time he was shot I think that's why Trinity was able to reach him and bring him back.
There is the theory that you never leave the Matrix, and the people that take the red pill just move to another level of the Matrix, and Neo is assigned by the architect to start the new Zion so he is defended by the program, he can't die he may not even be human, he may be a super agent program. The architect implies this -the first matrix was too perfect so people rejected it, so he rejects the matrix because it is still too perfect so he moves to the dystopian world matrix with a war and poverty, and people trying to survive with bad food, living underground.
This relates to the "Sleeping Beauty " paradox/problem.

43:23 The Matrix influenced a lot of movies that came out after 1999. It set the tone for movies in the 21st century. In terms of storytelling, cinematography, action scenes, it was the first of its kind in a lot of ways. You almost wouldn't believe it came out over 20 years ago. It still holds its own when compared with a lot of movies made in the last 5 years.
Lovely video btw 🥰
Oh, this is going to be exciting! I remember watching this movie for the first time and not understanding it in its entirety, I mean there were some things I picked up on at first and then I had watched it a few times later because I then finally owned a computer, I then began to understand the terminology used in this movie along with the other symbolisms I picked up in the movie. I enjoyed it even more so and the other two that followed after this one! Hugo Weaving does a spectacular job playing the Villan in this film as "Agent Smith" the main antagonist of this movie!
Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Ann Moss as Trinity and Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus, I loved these characters and I hope you enjoyed this one enough to see the other two that followed after. The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. We have yet to see the most recent one that has recently come out in 2021 which is The Matrix Resurrection. Looking forward to watching The Matrix with you! I got my reminder on!
Wonderful reaction!! I think you and I are on the same page when it comes to morpheus. In fact I feel more for him than I do for Neo.
I too felt overwhelming emotion when switch died and it's typically overlooked by fans of the movie. She played a small role but the line "not like this" killed me. When you see it from her point of view, she is on what could be seen as a holy mission to find the one, led by THE most revered and inspirational captains in the fleet of ships tasked with freeing people from the matrix (one of the most honourable roles in their society.) To switch, her life has great purpose now and so she thought her death would also be a worthy one. If we're fighting in a war, we all have romanticism in the way we would like to go out, unfortunately for her it did not end that way.
Deja vu is a common term people use when they experience a moment that they think has happened before. So Neo would know what it’s called.
Correct. It's a French term adopted by English along with other languages. Like 'Rendezvous', another French word that was adopted.
‘The Matrix’ became an absolute phenomenon when it was released. It was a major influence on a lot of action movies for years afterward. And probably still is today. It’s a kickass movie and saw it in the theater on opening weekend. It really needs to be seen on the big screen.
When Neo wrapped the rope around his arm and the helicopter started dragging him towards the edge.. BOSS!!! 💚💚💚
I'm glad you was moved by the love story Neo-Trinity. I can't wait you to watch Matrix 2 & 3 : this love story becomes even more epic ! 😘
33:03 “THERE IS NO SPOON!” 😎🚫🥄
OMG. I never heard such unique Trynity first impression. 🤣🤣🤣
My dear sweet KSO. I’ve never seen anyone cry watching this movie. Sadly, the other two movies don’t match up, though you’ll have to make your own reaction. Merry Christmas, beautiful lady!
Such a joy to watch someone experience this movie for the first time. What a ride. ♥️
The actor who plays agent Smith also played Elron in the Lord of the rings. I think he would absolutely love him in V for vendetta if you haven’t already seen it (I’m still looking at different videos you’ve done), It really showed his depth as an actor and I think it’s one of the more lovable roles he’s ever done.
K, I just love the way you just go about trying to unravel this film like Sherlock Holmes it's great to watch.watching the first Matrix film myself like many others was very confusing but once you go through the trilogy of matrix films with two more to follow this one it becomes more understandable plus K the latest matrix film just came out this month so even more excitement for you and the rest of us Humans.🇬🇧🇺🇸🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s really nice to see someone look at this in terms of humanity and human emotions. Most people focus on the science fiction and cool action sequences. They seem to miss that part even though that is the point. They are real, not what the matrix decides they are. Love your reactions!♥️
"Mind over matter," indeed.. imagine being in a theater on premiere night like me realizing everyone there all had absolutely no idea why we were there, but we had to know what The Matrix was "because no one can be told what it is"... thank you for your reaction!
38:12 - I don't believe I've ever seen anyone's lip quiver because they were so into a movie. Bless you, you're a sweet soul. Keep it up!
"I've never seen someone's lip quiver that fast before." :)
Remember: the oracle told neo that maybe he was “waiting for another life” since he had the gift of the being the one.
Also, Morpheus asked Neo “you think thats Ir you’re breathing now?” And later, Cypher sneezes; which he wouldn’t need to do if theirs no air.
7:15 - "Is this a horror flick?"
Us - "Well...um...oh boy..."
You are so thoughtful with your analysis. It’s amazing how you’re picking up on things I didn’t catch till my 3rd viewing.
the most impressive matrix reaction I've ever seen !! I like people who think!
I love this Lady! In her reactions, she's so invested & passionate -x-
Your reaction when Neo stopped the bullets is the same reaction I had when I first saw this.
Remember, the Oracle said that one of them would have to die to find out if Neo was truly The One. This is one of those movies that takes multiple watches to take everything in but the directors, The Wachowski’s, have publicly stated in recent years that the film is about going through transition as both of them are trans themselves.
Talk about the Directors who wrote this being trans. "Switch" in the original screenplay was Male in the real world but Female in the matrix. Do you remember Morpheus stating you see your body as your residual self, who your mind sees you to be. Hence the nickname Switch. Male in one world, Switching in the other.
how satisfying is to see someone that really have no idea what the movie is about reacting. this movie is really a mind blowing.
'You think that's air you're breathing?' At that moment, Neo was plugged into a machine, his body was in the 'real' world and breathing there...his matrix form has no such requirement :)
the "there is no spoon" bit is probably the single most important part in this movie.
Love your pureness and passion - thank you for this review it was great to share it with you
"When you plan to do evil, your brain juices die"
Well, THAT'S a quote for the books!
According to Keanu Reeves, he consider this a love story, which I think it is as well.
Out of all the Matrix reactions I've seen, and I've seen a lot, you were the only one to openly draw the connection between the biblical/spiritual concepts and the Matrix. They are absolutely relevant and are foundational to why the story has meaning and is constructed the way it is, whether intentional or unintentional. The metaphors of the movie are spot on and quite in depth as related to prophecy, principle and spiritual concepts. As you connected the dots it occasionally brought water to my eyes. God bless.
I really enjoy you pausing the movie to talk it through, you certainly got way deeper into it than I did the first time I watched it, granted I was 10 years old but still, you really carefully consider the movies you watch, it’s great!
I liked the pausing too, versus other reactors that just keep talking over the movie and I'm like "You just missed a really important fact".
31:24 Quite possibly the best line ever!!! ❤❤❤
The Oracle told Neo something like "You are waiting for something, probably the next life" so he wasn't The One until he died, technically he was, but dormant. And then he awakened.
The Matrix is basically virtual reality except you don't know you're in it.
Best Matrix reaction I've seen
I almost wet myself when Morpheus broke the chains and you said "...there is no SPOOooon.."
"How does he know the term deja vu?"
Because most people know that expression?
So do I .. I explained what I meant further.
Your facial expressions are priceless.
Great reaction! I saw this classic in a movie theater when I was in high school. This film still holds up very well.
I've never seen you so invested and worked up by other movies. I can tell because your accent is more prominent. I love your enthusiasm. (and the accent.) Thanks for your work, KSO.
So Sweet So Wonderful you make laugh and feel happy to know there is someone like you in the world. Happy Christmas to you and everyone.
It was all a mental thing. When he was in front of the oracle he didn't believe he was The One, and she knew it. So therefor he wasn't The One, yet. She placed everyone where they needed to be with her words. She wasn't lying. She just knew what they needed to hear in order to facilitate Neo to become the one.
I really like your interpretation of the 'function of the one' , regarding how he is 'incarnated' into a new body. That he 'returned'. You are gonna find the second and third movie very interesting. You are damn smart, really loving your reaction.
Great thoughts! When I was a kid I saw this in theatres and I didn't figure out the green world until they spelled it out
You seemed impressed when Neo shot all those police officers in the foyer, but they were all innocents, just stuck in the matrix like Neo was lol
"START SHOOTING, START SHOOTING!!" Hahah more action reactions please!
You should check out these films Tron 1982, and Dark City 1998. If you saw those 2 films before seeing The Matrix you would have been prepped for the Matrix.
All three have very similar schemes, plots, ideas and conclusion, to the point they are basically the same movie each with its own twist.
good catch on the green tint. It was overlooked by many when the film was released. Delighted to see you catch details even if you were not sure why, but felt it was important.
The Oracle didn't tell him that he wasn't the one.
He said I'm not the one.
Then she said sorry.
Sorry you're not the oe or Sorry you are the one.
Sorry you dont know what you are!
@@irabernstein There is also a fairly good theory that Neo isn't the one. The idea that the one is a program not a human and the architect refers to it as an anomaly in the program. That leads to the idea that Agent Smith is the one (the one agent that wants out of the Matrix) or that the little girl (Siri???? I forget) in the train station with her parents is actually the one which is why they are there trying to escape.
Please watch the Animatrix next before Matrix: Reloaded. No one has reacted to it yet.
I’m disappointed that pretty much no one on youtube has reacted at least to the Second Renaissance part 1&2.
I didn't know you reacted to this movie. Love this movie, saw it in 1999 in theatres, it was something else! Thank you Miss Kemi for this reaction, you're most of the time on point with your observations💜
My pleasure!! Thank you ❤️
You totally get it 🤗❤️
YOU r the first streamer to notice the green tint of the matrix ,,,,SUBBED and yes the greenish tint means they n the matrix and without real world,
Notice if you rearrange the letters of Neo you get One.
This isn’t a science fiction movie. It’s a fable.
Trinity's a stalker. Well, not that far off I guess. 😂
Brilliant reaction, you nailed it girl. Worth watching just for your facial expressions, fantastic! But "what's going to really bake your noodle" is when you understand the spiritual metaphor. It's actually the spiritual journey. Buddhists believe that the material world and our ego's are just a manifestation of our minds. And only through enlightenment (waking up) can we know the true nature of reality.
There are lots of religious connections to made made too, the holy Trinity, Morpheus God of dreams etc.
Their ship was called the Nebuchadnezzar after a babylonia king.
I love it! You are so into it KSO.
She's someone I would love to watch movies with! She's cool as heck! 💖💖💖💖
What's great about this movie is that it can be enjoyed on the surface after turning your brain off, but if you're willing to watch it multiple times and read essays about it, there are a massive number of ideas in the subtext and themes.
Your reaction. The quiering bottom lip. Classic!
Not sure how others feel but I enjoy you stopping the movie to share your thoughts throughout, it's your own style and I really like that
Mr. Anderson worked, at "METACONTE>
"Morpheus" is generally accepted as "John The Baptist," but there is some of "Mohamed."
That's interesting! Which parts of Muhammad?
@@roddo1955 Can't say without revealing too much of "Reloaded." Does that help?
Think of Mohamed's titles.
Interesting, since the Wachowski’s said it was a ‘trans allegory.’
Which one of those two is trans?
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 I'm so sorry. Completely out of "Troll Bites." Good boy.
best matrix reaction on youtube. i cried when you cried when i saw this for the first time also.
I just finished the newly released in theaters and on HBOMax The Matrix Resurrections this morning. Remember how you reacted to this when you get around to reacting to that.
Oh I KNEW YOU DID THESE MOVIES! I TAKE MY FOCACCIA AND I AM READY FOR A MARATHON.
You are just great for reactions. I just love watching your videos.
Perfect reaction. So glad you liked it
It was a lot of fun watching you twist around trying to understand what was going on. Believe me we all felt the same way the first time we watched it!
Wow, great review! One of the best Matrix reviews I’ve seen ( and I’ve seen quite a few).
Your reactions are so pure.
Neo was originally gonna be played by will smith and trinity was gonna be played by Janet Jackson. Along with Lawrence fishburne in the cast.
One of my favorite trilogies soon to be ex Trilogy...If you haven't got it already ... Neo wraps his arm around that rope from the helicopter because he saw things before they were going to happen ,, he knew she was going to grab the rope...that's why they said you see he is the one
Don't apologize for stopping the video and commenting. Your comments are why I am watching. I've already seen the movie.
Thank you
Your emotions made this reaction. Loved it
What’s interesting about this is that Humans were the original oppressive force in this story the Machines originally was anted peace but the Humans refused and only sought to destroy them so the Machines fought back they did however give them multiple chances for peace before doing so
Good to see your channel doing so well ☺ nice reaction, for me this was *amazing* when it came out, and it's still great today. I enjoyed rewatching this with you. There's something reminiscent in Neo's "death" that is like restarting a computer, don't you think? Like he had a massive update awaiting restart to complete installation!
The idea that humans were used as batteries doesn't actually work (you'd need to put more energy in than you could get out) and the Wachowskis knew this - originally humans were being kept for the processing power of their brains (which makes sense). Apparently this did not test well with audiences, so they changed to the battery idea - even though it couldn't work.
You are really crying. How wonderful.
Great reaction. But the oracle didn’t lie to him. She just said he was waiting for something, maybe his next life. When he died and came back, then he was ready to fulfill his destiny and be the one. Btw he is not the reincarnation of the “fist One”. But that will be explained in the next movie.
You need to watch other parts. Loved your reaction. Much love from Poland. Have a good life!
