  • In this video series I will show how to 3D print and paint the Space Shuttle Atlantis on his final mission: STS-135.
    This is the last of three videos and it will show all the details about the base and eletronics that simulate the exhaust flames on SRB's.
    In the video I will explain how to mount the eletronics using ws2812b led strip (programmable leds) and an Arduino Nano to control them.
    You can download the specifc program for this build here:
    www.dropbox.com/s/k3lfqhcxxks...
    The first video about de Atlantis orbiter build is available here:
    • Space Shuttle 3d print...
    The second video about de external tank and SRB's build is available here:
    • Space Shuttle 3d print...
    This model is avaliable here:

    This model is 70cm high and it was printed on a Creality Ender 3 using PLA with these settings:
    0.4mm noozle, 0.1mm layer height, 90mm/s

    I love this. I've printed it, but have yet to assemble and paint it. It would look really cool if the main engines could be lit up too.

      Thanks ! This is really a great model. I haven't tried to lit the main engines because it's just a faint blue almost invisible. But it would be a nice touch! Good luck with your build !

    To echo others here, this is beautiful and impressive work of art and engineering! Very well done! If I may ask, what LEDs do you recommend for bright white and soft white (yellowish) illumination for plastic models. Thank you for your time and posting this tutorial!

      @RMCV_CHANNEL  Před měsícem

      Thanks mate !!! Bright white and soft white probably are the most common led colors available. If you search on Banggood for leds for models you will find lots of different led sizes for all scales. For instance: www.banggood.com/pt/12-LED-Lighting-Kit-Steering-Brake-Simulation-Flash-Light-for-1-or-10-Yokomo-Tamiya-HSP-HPI-RC-Car-p-1644268.html?cur_warehouse=CN&rmmds=search

      Thanks !!! Yes it is when used in thin layers. Super low weight also. Use it a lot when building RC planes.

    Olá Ruben descobri o teu canal ontem através da tua entrevista no 3d print tuga, fiquei maravilhado com o teu foguetão em especial o efeito dos led's usando o Arduíno. Seria possível um dia fazeres um vídeo a explicar como fazes os led's mudarem de cor . Peço desculpa pelo meu pedido mas é que eu não entendo muito do Arduíno era só para tentar entender. um muito obrigado pelo teu canal e por partilhares o teu conhecimento. um abraço.

      Olá José ! Antes de mais muito obrigado. Quanto ao Arduino, a mudança de cores ocorre de acordo com o defines no programa. Neste video explico a forma como se fazem as ligações e disponibilizo o programa que tens que carregar para o Arduino. O carregamento é muito simples: Basta instalares o Arduino IDE (www.arduino.cc/en/software), ligares o arduino ao PC pela porta USB, no IDE escolheres essa porta e carregar o .ino (programa) que disponibilizei. Depois o código está todo comentado para alterar as cores, o nº de leds por fita, quantas fitas, etc. Mas deste uma boa sugestão para criar um video com todo este processo ! Enquanto não há video, se tiveres alguma dúvida diz ! Abraço !!!!

      Muito obrigado João ! Os decalques foram feitos por mim para esta escala. Coloque aqui o seu mail e eu envio-lhos. PS: A parte do fumo também foi feita por mim de forma a levar os leds. Se quiser também lhe envio.

    I forgot to ask, what scale is this? It looks 1:144 to my eye, based on having built the Revell kit in the past.

    • @RMCV_CHANNEL
      @RMCV_CHANNEL  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, it is 1:144 scale. But it looks bigger because of the flames 😜
