    When changing your plugs on a M8 always check the deep plug wells on the right side for debris, small rocks or sand ect. Particularly on the front right. Probably have to use a flashlight to view the bottom of the well after removing the spark plug wire to ensure you have no pebbles or sand. If a small pebble falls in your cylinder head your motor will be toast. I use an air blower and a vacuum to throughly clean the well before removing the plug. The last time I changed my plugs I found two small rocks in the right front plug well. Fortunately I preformed this simple check and probably saved myself from a whole lot of misery.

      Even the phat plugs do not provide any better spark if you will..they are just thicker so they last longer. I replaced my plugs and wires this year on my 19 CVO RG. I used the Screaming eagle fat wires and the Screaming eagle performance plugs. What’s your opinion? Do the fancy plugs and bigger wires make a difference? It seemed to run smoother however I also changed the header and mufflers at the same time. I previously installed the Woods cam and the Rinehart exhaust was causing tuning issues. It’s dialed in now but definitely made some expensive mistakes on exhaust decisions.

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  Před 4 měsíci +1

      phat wires dont improve anything...the inner diameter is the same as oem wires however they do look better and actually last longer than the oem thin wires. As far as plugs go unless you run an iridium plug , which just lasts longer, there is no huge difference in oem vs fancy plugs. They will both last longer but thats really about it.

    Can’t figure why Harley Davidson maintenance recommends 30K or 2 years. I get the 30K but two years doesn’t match the mileage requirement especially for us low mileage riders. What is significant at 2 years?

    • @sikbaggers
      @sikbaggers  Před 4 měsíci

      Its just the manufacturer doing preventive maintenance however I agree that 2 years seems a bit pre mature. however its not like autos where the plugs are not exposed to outside elements as much as they are on a bike so maybe, and its just me thinking out loud, that's why they say 2 years. I do know I'm guilty of not doing it every two years. Every 4 years has worked great for me so far.

    If I need lessons on how to change the plugs on a V twin, I really don't want the bike.

      maybe for you its easy...its not that way for everyone else. Most people know how to change the plug but not everyone knows what to look for on the plug, how to gap plugs correctly or check wires. Not everyone has the same mechanical experience as you. Something to remember.

      @@sikbaggers What a crock, it's not rocket science, you either do your own or you take it to a shop, if you do your own then the manual explains it all, gapping a plug is easy, clue in the name, the colour of the plug dictates what needs to be done but you are spouting a lot of BS and what exactly is going to happen to the wires anyway.
      I've been riding Harleys since the mid 90's, servicing is easy enough for DIY, shops charge way too much considering how long it really takes, pure profit almost, but Harley needs to design a bike where the plugs don't need to take the tank of for gods sake, even the rice burners don't need that crap.

    You have to remove the gas tank to change spark plugs ! Just another reason not to buy a Milwaukee 8

      yeah it sucks but honestly I cna have the tank off faster than removing 2 saddlebags and side covers...its pretty easy

      Come on, dude!.... How often do you have to change your plugs? Just put on your cool playlist, take out 4 screws, and follow those SIMPLE instructions. It'll be relaxing and satisfying... and not to mention that you've just saved yourself a hundred bucks. If it makes you feel better... My Chevy Malibu requires an entire bumper removal just to replace the headlight bulb.... which means you have to jack it up and remove the splash guard. Fun fun fun!!!

    Steve I’m asking for your help again. I contacted you a couple of weeks ago on advanblack adjustable mount and backrest. Got it installed with no problems but got about 40 miles on it and the mount on pad has rivets that backed out which was an easy enough fix but the adjustment knob that allows pad to move up and down has fallen off and of course I have no idea where. I contacted info@advanblack and they wanted photos which I am very limited in doing on phone. Asked if they could send a parts list and have not heard nothing else from them. This was bought for a 2019 flhx but is installed on 2023 flhxs. If this is something you would rather not get involved in I would totally understand.
    Thanks
    David

      @@sikbaggers it’s just bad to have a new scooter and unable to ride it. I’m sure the adjustment knob coming off is my fault it shows no signs of lock tight on it. When putting together I most likely installed everything and forgot to tighten it up
