Word to the wise: Once your store starts attracting a larger customer base DO NOT waste store perks points on additional employees as they rarely perform their assigned duties efficiently, bring in family members instead to assist with sales, etc...

@@alisasharnin5157 Just use the "add to family" cheat and you can add anyone inside your store and assign them a job task

Alifia Putri Chaerunissa I think you make it a retail lot and just lock the house front door so that customers can't come in. Little Ms Sam also has a Live in Business mod that lets you own different businesses on the lot you live on

Aww this is annoying I spent 4 hours building a shop ready for this game... I built it on my home lot :( it will take forever to get rid of the shop and build a new one
Amber Films save it to your library then just place it on the other lot.

+PenguinDip You can also change your home lot to a retail lot, you can still live on it. Just make sure you lock your house doors to only let your household in

I need help when I try to transfer funds into my store from my household funds it wont let me and when I try to do it from the register my sim will just press some buttons and nothing comes. Is it a glitch?
Extremely disappointed there is only one vacant lot to build on. What were they thinking. It's not as if there are loads to choose from on the other maps either. I was so excited for this game. But it's got such limited scope with so little build space.
Jemma H Well, you can demolish whatever you like. I believe they said at some point they are working on more space. It is a shame that there is so little room to build in any of the worlds though.
That's the only thing that I find disappointing. Get to work is one of my new favorite expansions. I find it really good tbh
***** Ik but the jobs last a while, and they are very fun and interesting. It gives a whole new level to work in the sims 4. Usually you would just wait until they got back but now you get to go to work with them instead of being bored waiting. I find it really fun, and I fell in love with the fact that you can have your own store, considering I want to own an art store when I get older

I'm having some serious trouble in re-stocking the fridge on my pasterie store: I just can't. lol How do I do that? And does it have a menu or something? Because the alredy build-up pasterie store comes with a sink, fridge and oven. So do I just put them to sell or do I need employees?
might be getting a laptop and sims 4 and get to work for Christmas. this video is so good for preparation because I want to open a retail store in the game anyway.
you have to get get to work package aswell
It is the get to work package. If you listen really closely at 0:17 and add the "k" onto work then you can here him mention that.

Whenever I try to get my sim or the staff to ring someone up, I click that option on the sim and it goes away and they don't do it? The customers end up leaving but I don't get why it's not working
+Rey Price Burton What I've noticed is that when I press the "ring up customer" button the action takes ages to actually work and theres a massive lag in it self, and customers get pissed off like u said and just walk out dunno why, not like I'm not attending to them. And also I hired some woman to help me and I told u to ring up the customers and next thing shes sat there in the staff room watching tv ? like wtf ??
YES, thats exactly what happens, though they don't get ringed up at all.
looks like AI is messed up for this game. my staff just look around like nothings going on.
Has the running a store in your house changed? I feel like I've done this in my sims house, even if I didn't follow through with it.

Will the hired employees eventually start working more when you purchase traits for the store? At this point, it seems like they are doing exactly fuckall, but I cannot even reprimand them for slacking, as the game doesn't think they do.

i made a retail store for a rags to riches realism series were i would have to buy my stuff from the store how ever when i place it in and travel there no one there and nothing i can buy ( eny way to combat that? )

you can build a home on your store lot and you can "live" there but im pretty sure you have to have an official home lot though. in my game they have a gardening shop and my sim has an apartment upstairs that she lives in and she even had her baby in it but she has an empty lot in another neighborhood that is her official home lot.
Great Video! I have a quick question though. I am specifically trying to sell books at my retail store and do not know how to sell them. Keep in mind I am very new to the game and I am still trying to get used to the format.

How start buy a retail store on the newest version of sims 4 because there is no option for it on the phone
On the bottom right of the screen, click on the cash register icon and it will be there

I know one can't change a lot into a restaurant or retail business while it is occupied but the problem I kept running into is trying to make anything besides these two. For example, I wanted to make an art center. I went into build mode of an unowned lot and changed it to an arts center and could even ad the building I wanted from the gallery. However, when I tried to get my Sim to buy it, they couldn't buy it. It kept stating that "sims can only purchase unowned businesses or unoccupied residential lots". If I changed the lot to a restaurant or a retail business, then my Sim could buy it but then I couldn't download and place the art center on the property. It looks like there are a long list of possible businesses but the only ones I can get to work all the way are retail and restaurants.
I thought it was available tomorrow in the us? I preordered it but my game keeps force quitting before I get onto it and I don't know if it is because the game hasn't come out yet or if it's just an issue with the game itself or my computer
try open origin then sims 4 because if origin isnt running in the background for mine it does the same thing

I saw someone who had like 2 stores, and it seemed to me like they needed to be at the store for it to be open. Leaving to another area and coming back would then make it closed it seemed.
Is there a way to let employed sims run the store and have it automatically open at set times so my Sim can live 'the dream' so to speak?

Carol Lee Yes that's what I did. So after I clicked on the retail store, they would ask me to chose a sim to go with. However, after I chose a sim, the game would load me back to my house :( Is that a bug or something?

Can you name the stores? I have a books, collectables and toy store, a bakery, and a fashion/ clothes store. I was hoping that they let you name the stuff, and I feel out of place that my stores don't have names.

Any idea how to make your employees more useful lol. Mine just talk to eachother even though I asked them to talk to the customers. They talk but mainly they talk to only one and the sale bar doesnt rise or anything.
