Oh man somebody through the modules at this car and caused a lot of extra work but it was a great opportunity to experiment with programming a Used Global A BCM.
Jake, you are a good man for trying to help us technicians out here! It used to be that people didn’t want to be giving away their information because they thought they would be helping their competition. There’s so much work out here now and so many people there, there’s not enough techs that know this information! You’re a great tech, and we can’t express enough how much we appreciate all the hard work you put in to help all of us! Many blessings to you and your family Jake! We especially appreciate the programming information and circuitboard information. God bless your family Jake!
The final outcome was bad, but watching you remove and calibrate the prom on that TopDon tool, then go through the initial programming was GREAT! you've got to know what your doing and it's obvious you're on top of all this. Good One!
Good video. Got to love global a vehicles. Ran into a 2018 Denali that wouldn’t start or program due to all used modules the junk yard put in, throwing nothing but identifier codes. That was a fun one. Keep up the great work
Wow thats crazy! We had a guy tow his car to the shop yesterday for a steering and suspension evaluation. Go to start the car to pull on the shop and the engine has 0 compression on 3 cylinders and 30 PSI on the other one.
That’s one reason I love the Andromeda Labs AR32A for eeprom stuff. Never an issue reading/writing in circuit and it saves a lot of time soldering. Just have to have a laptop with a full size serial port to use it. Good job sifting through the madness on this one man. You gotta love the project cars 😂
I've read and heard about people verginizing GM modules using GM development programming system or DPS V 4.2 or newer. Have you tried it before? And do you have a copy of it that you can share with us? Thanks for the great info in this video
Well Jake guess that would of been nice to know in the beginning. Just take the payment and run. Never know what your going to get. Thanks for sharing Artie 👍
well there is a thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but at least you had a bit of fun doing some programming experiments with out to much risk of messing up the car . and learnt a couple of things on the way . nice job my friend looked like there was some fun to be had 👌 even if that car is off to the razor blade making factory . pity would have loved to seen that run if the engine was not junk 👍
Well that was a crazy turn of events. I know you ran with what the customer told you, but I have to wonder if some preliminary tests shouldn't have been done first before spending all that time. Or perhaps checking as soon as the rust started to appear.
In autorepair world there is no way cheap..whenever customers go that way it always winds back to more expensive track😢..great work and cheat through unnecessary technical barriers..cheers
A man after my own heart. I too take jobs that I know I probably shouldn't take. I guess I like the challenge, or maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment.
Could have also been just a blown seized motor and not a flood. If it's a seized motor only, it still has hope. The owner can get a cheap motor at a cheap junkyard and install it himself or get a cheap mechanic. If it was indeed flood, then the motor is seized, the transmission flooded too, and the computers are all oxidized, and the connectors, etc. It's done for. You can check for flood if it has signs of mud or water intrusion inside. Or inside the motor too.
Another great one Jake! Hopefully you'll get paid properly for your work, time, and knowledge. If not, the title might be a good option, lots of LS motors would fit perfectly in that bay. I was wondering if you have any information or feedback on the Enigma programmer? Something I have been thinking about for a couple of years now but it's expensive!
Im in the market for a laptop to use when flashing/programming...any recommendations on what to look for? will be trying to use it for mostly all domestic brands no euro stuff for me.
@@autodiagyt there is definitely an issue with j2534 claim of the product. Supposedly the engineers in the USA are working on it. I ended up getting a Mdi2 as well.
Have you run into a BCM that won't setup? 14 Sierra new BCM, programming went perfectly but setup won't run. Keeps giving me brake pedal sensor won't learn and won't go through rest of setup. Any advice would be appreciated.
Good morning Jake, If you don’t mind me asking, how do you like your Transit Connect? I’m thinking about purchasing one (used) to replace my Super Duty due to the extra miles I’m driving. Thanks brother!
I'd be looking for a different EPROM programmer rather than being tied to your scan tools. No need to connect to wifi and you can name the files anything you want.
Man if someone could do a video on how the computer car computer thinks and operates and what information goes to what part of the computer and all that it would make programming a lot more easier to understand
Fantastic job, Jake! Unfortunately, for nothing - that car is an expensive brick. If it wasn't for what was learned and the virgin eprom data file, this would have been a complete waste of time and money.

I know this is an old video Jake but I love finding these hidden gems you’ve put out that I somehow missed! 💪🏾

I bought one several years ago,I love it
Great video, Thanks for sharing! Good catch on finding the engine locked up before spending countless hours!
Good one Jake as usual, thanks for sharing.

What a mess for sure, never ending.... thanks for bringing us along
Hindsight truly is 20/20!!! Wow!!! That was quite costly for the customer. Their choice. Nice job!
Jake, all that work but no cigar in the end. Oh well, maybe next time. Thanks for Sharing!
You know, you can take a car out of the bone yard, but you can’t take the bone yard out of the car!! JUNK!! Great video though!
👍 thanks for sharing
Great job 👍
Very interesting thanks

Was a good video and great information .. back to the junkyard where it belongs😂😂

Sing the song take it too the junkyard take it to the junkyard one last time 🎼🎵 new eagles song. Great job programming you are the man 👊🏻
Oh bummer.. My first thought at the beginning of the video, check the engine, the heck with the modules..
Those are the worst when it ends up like this with customers. Still gotta charge though.
Grasias
That's quite of a turning event there oh my goodness.
That was cool!!
You sir ,are amazing ! Sucks the engine is locked .

From Nick Ayivor from London England UK 🇬🇧 ⏰️ 07:27am Good Morning 🙏 🌄
Awesome
Cool experiment with the virgin EEPROM! What blows by mind is that you can't program a key with the HVAC module offline... Like what the heck 😆
@@autodiagyt funny thing is even the hvac store environment identifier it won't prevent the vehicle from starting, whereas a ebcm could

Think it would be easier to take the engine out and put it in a boat 🤪

Great video. Have you, successfully, attempted to program with the MDCI on GM vehicles with SPS2?
@@autodiagyt there is definitely an issue with j2534 claim of the product. Supposedly the engineers in the USA are working on it. I ended up getting a Mdi2 as well.
More fun flashing EPROMs then ouch.... But someone was able to get the automatic out prior, guess not the buyer?
Hey mate can you put the virgin eeprom file for the BCM in the description
nice.. So did you still get paid for all that work?
@@autodiagyt Nice.. might just have to file "title 42' if you have to.

Was looking at those when I first went mobile.. But ended up with a prius gen 3... yep they have their issue too! Lol
@@autodiagyt Sounds like the perfect vehicle for me. Thanks, Jake!
@@autodiagytJake, what year is your Transit Connect? Thanks again!

Can somebody explain what global a is I've heard that a lot I don't understand what it is exactly
@@autodiagyt thanks what a great explanation
Hi my friend I think well be easier to just swap out the EEprom
Could you just take out the obd plug and read it with topdon and then just plug in gms one without it canceling the update?
I think that’s what I did
I can’t remember but yeah that would work.
You're probably going to need new points and condenser and maybe polarize the generator!
This could have turned into thr infamous Pine Hollow Focus.

Few Mins in i Said “Slooowly walk away…” And minute 25 🤯🤬🤬. Dang Sorry man.
cut the serp belt and try to turn over ive had this happen twice in my 40 years just from cars that had set
She is locked up like a Ford rear end.
Man if someone could do a video on how the computer car computer thinks and operates and what information goes to what part of the computer and all that it would make programming a lot more easier to understand
Every car is different, that's the easy answer
oh dear 🤢👍👍

Hooray another 3/6 alloytec POS of the road.
