And I was like, that is still really long for recovery, but aside from stress levels, I wonder if part of the recovery time is due to the use of abdominal muscles for stabilization in her heels? Like that takes some mega core strength and I imagine would pull at the muscles.

10-14 day hospital stay for abdominal surgery is in fact a sign this is a major surgery, maybe she had tumors as many women do at midlife resulting in partial or full hysterectomy and going through early menopause which is life changing. I’ve been through this and it is a long and pretty agonizing recovery. Took me 2 years. I hope she can bounce back as she is young but her schedule is terribly demanding.
Here in the United States, it's not typical to stay in the hospital for two weeks for that surgery. I had two major surgeries for ovarian cancer and was released within days from both surgeries and my hysterectomy as well several years before. I hope she didn't suffer complications or an infection and I wish her the very best.
If it were just a hysterectomy, with robotic surgery I had it in the morning (along with robotic gallbladder removal at the same time) and was home in the afternoon with almost no recovery time.

I had a total hysterectomy in 2022 and my surgeon told me it would take 6 weeks for the outside scar and 6 months for inside to heal! It is not unusual for members of the Royal family to be kept in a private hospital for longer as it is part of recovery and convalescence!

This is/was NO ROUTINE surgery, a routine surgery does not require 10-14 recovery days in hospital. Also, NO surgery is routine and should never be labeled as “routine”, anything can wrong during surgery, during post operative, and during recovery. This is coming from a medical and cardiovascular intensive care nurse.

A hysterectomy was my first thought along with possible fibroids. 3 months recovery is a long time and is a sign that she has had a major operation.
