- [speech delivered in Romanian] When tragedy struck the underground music scene in 2015, in Romania, in the form of the Colectiv fire, one of the deadliest fire incidents in recent local and international history, it didn’t affect a niche, but an entire generation. It burnt the underground generation, it burnt childhood super-hero capes and life beliefs.
Alexandra, one of the survivors of the tragedy, now splits her life in the “before” and “after” moments, fighting to provide a larger meaning for this aftermath. Through allowing this tragedy to transform her in the deepest way possible and showing her the ugliest part of our country, Alexandra is leading us on a road of searching and building a better society - through expressing our voice, demanding better supporting culture, getting involved in developing communities and never, ever, again, be afraid of speaking out.
After having worked as a mainstream journalist for various conventional news platforms in Romania, Alexandra quits the common for the uncommon and joins Maximum Rock Magazine, a small music webzine that allows her to fulfill her enduring dream of writing about music and promoting rock culture. To Alexandra, the underground could help Romania grow culturally and socially, if only it were promoted and supported more.
As a survivor of the Colectiv club fire, Alexandra wants to keep flying the flag of the underground, while working toward positive change in Romanian society and culture, through raising awareness about important issues and volunteering in organizations and charities. Acum iti citesc cartea. Sper ca Jurnalul tau sa declanseze o noua ancheta Recorder. Asa visez eu… o ancheta in urma careia medicii mincinosi ca “Moldovan” din carte, care are si un nume real, sa fie anchetati penal, demisi, si sa nu li se mai permita sa practice medicina in veci si pururi.
Te iubesc Ale, si iti multumesc pentru tot ce ai facut. Imi pare rau ca ai trecut prin acel cumplit sacrificiu si ma bucur ca te-ai vindecat. Nadajduiesc sa te intalnesc intr-o buna zi.
