I remember deciding as a slim 20 year old to enter the pit during a weddoes gig and being spat out within 1 minute...the energy was unreal. Did have a chuckle when I went to a gig just before covid and there were still the 50 year olds trying to give it a go!
@@michaellea3529 We just need to take a few more breathers now and order a pint of iced water at the bar to pour over our heads before diving back in! 😸
This may be a live gig, but here are 4 men totally into what they are doing. They ain't playing up to the crowd, they are just playing their music passionately. The Wedding Present at their peak! Bizarro and Sea Monsters are 2 BRILLIANT albums.
It must have been the year before I saw them in Edinburgh basically supporting themselves, but the support act version had Len Liggins up front singing in Ukrainian, Dave off to the side doing his guitar stuff with different chords! Good times!! (Or should I say "Davni Chasy"? 😹😹😹)
in 1990 some Bizzarro copies were bought by a SP vinyls store here in Brazil and I got one and remember felt very impressed first time had the pleasure to listen to “Granadaland”, specially because of Simon Smith drumming 🙌, as all the others tracks by the original musicians, but this one… like we say here in Rio: “bom pra carahleoul!!”
I simply do not get this. No discernable melody, no singing, shoe-gazing over guitar parts I could teach someone in an hour. Actually knowing how to play may just keep me from liking this....hats off to them though, they seem to be big??
Stick to Dire Straits Nora. Lots of fancy epic guitar solos, lots of melodies and tunes you couldn't teach someone in an hour. Plus anyone who puts "How to play" a song by Travis in their videos will never understand this music. I suggest you move on love....
Nora Snatch It's just "different strokes". There's really no such thing as 'good' or 'bad' music (because who would be the judge?), or anything else for that matter. There's just stuff you like, and stuff you don't like. And I, and many others, loved The Wedding Present. For me personally, live music never really got any better than this, but I can totally respect your not getting it (just as I fail to get rap, for example).
Absolutely f*cking brilliant. I still gave the SPUNK VHS Video cassette, a prized possession. Love to this very day, The Wedding Present.
Totally AFB !
same here mate! :-)
that guitar playing by gedge at 1-24 is fucking amazing!
whoever gave this a thumbs down aint a gotta clue..this is fuckin class
Cracking stuff from the boy gedge !! lost 2 wrist watches and a tenner at weddoes gigs
I love the Wedding Present me
CLASSIC Wedding Present - the best years. Someone please invent a time machine!
this lineup was the best.

If the gig was in London or Manchester then I was probably one of them

one of the best clips on youtube
I saw them around this time in Loughborough. To this day the best gig I have ever been to. I may have broken a rib.

Gedge's playing brings a whole new meaning to guitar wankery.

Best line up
Back to Granadaland on Sunday...
Brilliant, brilliant, song - still great after all this years - classic!!
...now I can breathe.. fantastic!
Loved this band since 1989
how the fuck he can strum the guitar with such speed and strenght like that???
Gedge is a master of the power ballad. Thanks for posting.
Keith wearing (inside-out) a T-shirt from New Fast Automatic Daffodils, I think - an even *more* underrated band...
+matthew tempest He was probably told to turn it inside out by Gedge.
Still sends a shiver down my spine....!
Awesome!!!
19歳のときにBizarroを聞いて、Granadalandはとても好きな曲でした。たまたまこの映像にたどり着いて、とてもなつかしいです。熱狂、輝き。すべてが最高です。
Awesome song!
80's was the best time. must have seen them 12+ times, On that lake in Bradford!!
great editing
It's so good. Why is it so good?
Love it!
Memories!!! Ta for sharing!!!! :) xxx
classic. i used to be able to strum like that...
So damn good
I saw them live Aberdeen 1990. Gig was stopped several times to allow the Saint Andrew's ambulance crews under a banner of truce.
if these songs were all based on Gedges love life - then that sounds like one tortuous existence.
Used to say this among friends at the time then a few years later ended up playing pub league football with Kevin of "Give My Love To Kevin" fame.
I’m on my 50something’th relationship and I’m starting to think he’s me dad
I wish it was 1990.
Grandissimi
A great gig in Leeds as well. I was there somewhere. The only time they did an encore, well, retakes.
First class
Best
Fucking yes!
Fucking magic
As good as it gets .
no-one says 'daft' quite like gedge
😯
they're from further north than the smiths
And Gedge actually sounds Northern
E-NOR-MOUS
All the ones trying to be clever favoured pavement. No idea what they were singing about but i get this stuff.
gan on gedgie!!!
I want someone to love me like the person at 1:11 loves The Wedding Present.
Beautiful noise
When British non-hardcore bands wore shorts
And some say TWP are better now than they've ever been....haha, fuck off. This line - up is the definitive Weddos.
..I'm not sure how I feel about Gedge in shorts
Ummm..... Nice shorts. Lol
Yikes. It doesn’t get much better.

Nora Snatch what a song means, expression of..
There is no fucking way you could ever play this fast... Please do try, then you might actually 'get it'.
Love to hear your band twat
