I also have always practiced the parenting philosophy of catching a kid doing something 'right,' instead of something 'wrong,' and giving positive behaviour most of the attention. You seem like an amazing mom and of course you want to celebrate how proud you are of your son's achievement(s) !

You're so right in rewarding your son's good achievements. When I was a kid, good stuff was never recognised because my parent's attitude was "why reward me for doing what I'm supposed to be doing?" As you can guess, anything not done well certainly was focused on!
I ended up with an awful pattern of not trying because I never got that positive validation. I have to say my parents were from a very different time, upbringing & culture and always had good intentions but I think it's great you let your boy have that positive feedback!😊

I was gonna say I wonder if he's so active at school because he's bored because he's actually pretty far ahead. I'm so happy he's doing so well academically! It's crazy the other school didn't seem to acknowledge that or look into WHY he was so active and hyper. Yay Alex!!

Luka's crib was purchased from Facebook marketplace, and the mask is from Lush.

Did you save a lot of items from when Alex was a baby to pass onto Luka and the new baby? Curious as my sister is expecting baby number 5 and she barely saves anything!
I did!! We saved strollers, clothes, some accessories. It’s very helpful!

My 6 year old had a hard time last year cause of his ADHD/ADD & wasent on medication and the teacher couldn’t handle him so I had to move and now he’s on meds & this school is waaay better lol he’s thriving and learning so much and reading like it’s nothing and doing math problems that are not first grade level 😂😂 so he got to go to chuckie cheese with his grandma as a reward for doing good on spelling test and no behavior issues 🙂🙂
awww I'm glad he was able to go have some fun. It makes me so sad how they are just labeled as the problem child in class instead of figuring out how to help them.
Ale, to answer your question, most savvy grocery stores prohibit filming to thwart competitors from re or ding prices then underpricing their merchandise to steal customers.
BTW, I was just thinking that besides your job job, you also are a full time housekeeper! That’s a lot! So no more beating yourself up for not yet being a painter too - regarding finishing your lower cabinets. And the new look is beautiful!
I was the same way when I was little, acting out because I was bored and far to advanced for the literature and math. Why not put him in an advanced class that will challenge him?
That's what we're trying to figure out with the school right now.
Luka is adorable and can't wait for baby #3. Way to go. It's such a proud moment when you child is doing really well in school. All you hard work is paying off! May I suggest something for Alex. Since Alex's achievements are off the chart. Do you think it would be helpful for Alex to go to a Gifted school or IB school where is may feel more challenged. I'm not sure if that would help Alex, but have definitely seen in past that it may help. But again, you're his parents, so you would know the best for Alex, just a little suggestion.
Thank you! That's actually what we're trying to see what the school. First, we needed to see what was going on, and now we're trying to find exactly what will help him thrive and succeed in school.

No be proud of him! I’m a teacher in an inner city school and I wish the parents would get excited when I tell them things like this! It’s so sad-how can we expect the kids to be excited about their accomplishments at school when their parents aren’t? Great mama!

Please don’t take this as a negative comment, but I as a child was the same as Alex I was super advanced but super disruptive and in my personal case it was because I have ADHD. There’s a lot of negative association and stigma around having ADHD but it’s actually not a dirty or bad thing, we just get bored easily and are hyper therefore disruptive when we are not being stimulated. If this is the case with Alex he will lose focus and ambition without proper encouragement and potentially medication.
I'm a huge advocate for behavior and mental illness and I believe we're all wired differently, so why not get the help we all need to be better. I wish there wasn't a stigma around behavior in children as well mental health.
That’s a great attitude. In my experience some schools seem reluctant to pursue some avenues of possibility because of the extra support the child will need after ‘diagnosis’. The earlier you can get to the bottom of a problem the better. You are a really good parent for supporting your kids so kindly.

Sounds like Alex may need “Talented & Gifted” classes (that’s what they use to call the advanced classes in elementary school when I lived in Texas back in the 90s)
That's what thee school is trying to figure out with testing. We're trying to figure out how we can help him best.

ok, super random,but i was one of those super active kids, and my teachers labeled me as a ' problem kid' and my school life became very difficult, i was lucky and had parents who never treated me any diferent for it. But it warms my heart to see how understanding u are beeing with alex and just wanted to thank on behalf of all active 'problem' kids who really just need a little bit of extra care!!
It makes me so sad when kids get labeled as a bad kid for having lots of energy. Kids aren't robots, and every kid is different. I'm so glad your parents were there for you!
Could Alex test out of 2nd grade? My brother constantly got bored and school was a struggle because it was far below his IQ level. Just a suggestion:) proud of that little guy!
We're still discussing how we're going to help him, with the school. He's already one of the youngest ones in 2nd grade, so I'm not sure how we would be socially with older kids. We'll have to see what works best for him.
why don't you test him and see if you can move him up a grade level!!!
