    Most people ( The Young Guys ) give people that ride smaller capacity bikes a hard time ,, They really don't know what they are missing , some in Australia gain their licence on up to a 650cc and never had the thought of riding a smaller bike , I wish I had a stable of 50cc ,, 125cc, 150,, to 250cc and a mix of Honda , Yamaha and Aprillia , They are an absolute blast and the most fun you can ever have , a Yamaha YZ150 cc is so light and nimble and quick off the mark , You will never get bored buzzing around the suburbs on these bikes and they are cheap to run and insure , People shouldn't knock something they have never ridden or tried . : )

  • @Ryanpetrolhead
    @Ryanpetrolhead Před 9 lety +2

    I own the previous model of RS 50 (1999-2005) and I find it a great little bike. This model has a higher build quality which is noticeable in things such as the fairings. There are some considerations needed when thinking about buying a geared 50 though:By law a 50cc can only go 28mph so if you de restrict it to achieve speeds up to 60mph then you are breaking the law. Will you continue riding after a 50 if not then you might be better off with a twist and go, however if you are then definitely get a geared bike.

      Hey, I see you haven't had a reply yet so I'll help you out. A decent modern version will cost about £1000, and depending on insurance will cost between 400-600 depending on where you go (some bikes have alarms fitted, which reduces insurance price). As mentioned in the video running prices are cheap except oil changes. Hope this helps

      +Harvey Connar What's going on Harvey, sorry for the late response. A 50cc geared motorbike whether it's supermoto or sportsbike will cost anywhere between £600 - £1200 dependent on age, condition and miles. For my first year insurance at the age of 16 it was £450 for the year (third party fire and theft). Other things to consider at MOT, Tax, Motorbike Gear/Protection and accessories.

      Hey Kevin!
      I was 16 at the time of recording, I moved up to a 125cc at 17.
      The RS50 was great fun, sportsbike feeling, an introduction to gears and the feeling of a power band. I later moved up to a Honda NSR125 (2 stroke).
      The sound of 2 strokes is a thing of beauty and I definitely feel it's something that grows on you. You learn to appreciate it as you better understand the world of biking. I was young and ignorant at the time!

      @@KevZX-10RC1H The RS50 has an obvious power band, but it's not overwhelming for a new rider.
      For me, the RS50 gave the me exposure and experience to being on the road, learning how to use a clutch and shifting through the gears. Lastly, it had that's sportsbike feeling and gave me that 'buzz'.
      Be mindful that they're only capable of 35 Mph restricted and 50 Mph or so derestricted.
      At 17 years old, the 125cc was more reliable and had a lot more oomph!

    I much prefer the supermoto style bike like my Derbi Senda DRD 50, however I agree with your review from a 50 cc standpoint, perfect for town and also for minor bendy roads in the country as they are usually 40 mph limit anyway, and my bike handles amazingly around them, and because of the very low range in speed between each gear it gets you used to making quick decisions, and using the clutch/gears, and incredibly cheap to run/fuel/repair. Nice review and you do not sound 16 haha

It drives great, started from the pushrod even without rebuilding the carburetor. but there is one problem, it won't start with the button. I found the location of the starter relay on the left side on the back side of the frame, apparently it is attached with a screw to the plastic battery niche. Derbi Senda 50cc - similar components to Aprilia but it's a supermoto/dirtbike style.

      If you are buying brand new you will have to get a de restriction kit and maybe an aftermarket exhaust, if you are buying second hand they will already most likely derestricted and have a better exhaust

      Hokage Reece yeh I didn’t realise how expensive they were. Are the older models just as good or am I just going to have issues later down the line

      Henry G it reall depends on how the previous owners cared for it, mine for example only needed a carb and recently a new throttle cable, however a friend had serious engine problems that he never cured and his was 5 years newer and had half the owners

    Was this second hand or first hand as I’m nearly 16 and I’m wanting to get that bike in particular but I’m worried about price like insurance and how much brand new and second hand

      +Evan Davis I know the feeling, I wish I could ride something bigger than my 125!
      UK Laws only allow upto 11kw (125cc) of power at 17.
      Not sure where you are from, but you'll be in the same boat as me if you are in the UK.

      EvolutionMotovlogs It's a shame the microphone doesn't pick us the sound as well. I've got myself a 125 with a Yoshimura exhaust, it sounds so much deeper than my rs50 (picking it up this week)!

    • @EvolutionMotovlogs

      Two different motorbikes, The RS4 50 and RS50. Almost identical other than the visual changes on the later model RS4.

    hey mate, im 16 just about to pass my CBT and buy an RS50 from eBay, i don't think its restricted and was wondering if i need to get it modified to get it restricted. in this video is your bike restricted and to what speed?

    • @EvolutionMotovlogs
      @EvolutionMotovlogs  Před 8 lety +1

      +Tobias Burden Both my Aprilias had been de-restricted from purchase.
      Personally I think it's much safer to ride de-restricted and in fact I recorded a video in relation to restrictions at 16 yesterday. Video might not be out for a week or so though...
      If it's restricted it will only be capable of 30mph.
      If it's de-restricted it will be capable of 50-70mph.
      In terms of getting it restricted could be quite some hassle, not to sure.
      Depends on what modifications have been done? Carbs, Sprockets, Exhausts e.c.t
