  • This is a lift design that I came up with out of a necessity for getting a ball as close as possible to the ceiling of my living room, in order to build a network of branching paths that were high enough for people to walk under them.

    The use of chains here is so clever

    im always just as impressed by the network of struts you created to support the whole thing.
    the final shot of this video shows off the flexing a little bit, im guessing you dont have a single nail or screw in the ceiling which is awesome

      You are correct, nothing is mounted to the ceiling. It's all free-standing from the floor. I tried something new this time; the two main beams which span across the ceiling are held up by a tension cable made of gray rods that runs in an arc underneath them, similar to pre-stressed concrete. Everything else on the ceiling is supported by smaller beams which branch from those two main ones. A couple of those are pre-stressed as well, though slightly less so since they are holding a much lighter load.

    DUDE I remember watching your clockwork ball machine video ages ago, it was a simpler time back then, today for some random reason your channel popped into my head from 7 or 8 years ago and I decided to check it out and you're still uploading! Great work man keep it up!

    Had to rewind to see how the bearings work-very cool! Great solution the tendency of K'nex to bend.

    Marvellous, the inline switcher. Have you a (profile)picture or pdf-description of this pathdivider?

    I don't see how the second stage of the telescope works 🤔 I mean how is it driven by the first stage, doubling its travel distance? I'm seeing it happens but not how

    • @Austron
      @Austron  Před 3 lety +1

      The loop of chain rolls over the gear on the first stage and down below it, where it connects to a long rod that goes up through the entire elevator to connect to the second stage
