What really made me start questioning my leftism was the whole abortion debate happening over here in Poland and it was long before I had any doubts about my Atheism.
The whole narrative that "humanity starts after X week after conception" was really bugging me bc it made no logical sense to me. A human fetus is a human fetus, not a dolphin or a monkey.
It's a developing human person that, unless there are complications, will be born, grow up and live a whole life just like you and me. Killing a fetus is taking away all that potential.
I understand there are cases where it may be a necessary evil, but pretending it's not an evil thing and even worse treating it casually like another form of anticonception, made me feel sick.
From there I started questioning a lot of other things, and as soon as I started digging and asking, I started realizing that a lot of it came down to a mix of self loathing and superiority complex.
I wanted no part of it so I abandoned it. I didn't know what to do with myself, I felt alone and lost. I knew I didn't want to turn to the far right bc I saw a lot of the same dirt there.
Then CZcams started recommending me a lot of videos about theology and philosophy. Stuff like analysis of Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine, Plato, Aristotle, Nietzsche, including your videos about different denominations, arguments for God, the KingdomCraft series, etc. And suddenly another part of my identity, one that I held onto since I was a little kid, started to crack.
For the first time in my life I've had serious doubts about my Atheism. For the first time I started seriously asking myself if I reasoned my way into Atheism or did I stumble into it through my own shortcomings, and the answer I got at the end of that questioning was that it was my own lack of understanding that got me to it. I became an Atheist on basis of logic and science I did not really understand to distance myself from what was truly paining me. The state of the Roman Catholic Church here in Poland, the corruption, its possition as this calcified institution, the horrible things done without remorse and guilt by the self proclaimed believers and ordaned priests, was what turned me atheist. My child mind could not reconcile the faith with all those issues and looking for an answer to it stumbled onto the rejection of both on the grounds of the failings of one. "Knives are used by murderers hence the manufacturers of knives are guilty"
I recently went back and started reading the Bible again and what I've found is a profound wealth of wisdom that has clear and genuinely logical answers to so many of the questions I had.
I started listening to audiobooks of philosophers like Plato and Saint Augustine and it hit me. I finally understood what was trully missing in my life all this time. Why I wasn't "sad" but also not happy, why I felt so hollow, as if there was a deep void in my chest that, why despite having a loving family and a safe home I felt so lonely and depressed. What I've been missing that whole time, what I needed in my life, what made me feel whole for the first time since I can remember, was faith. And not just any faith, but a true faith. One that was not merely conjured up by man to pacify the populace, not gods of the gaps, not neo-pagan "spiritualism", none of that, but a genuine divine revelation. I found that in the Gospel, I found that in Christ.
For the first time since I can remember I am happy. I am at peace, knowing with all my heart and mind that Christ is King, that He is God made flesh, that He died for our sins and that it is by this, by the Grace of God alone that we are saved. I am still far too early in my journey to call myself anything more specific than just broadly "Protestant"- too many evils I've seen in the Catholic Church are the direct result of it's system of governance for me to accept it and any denomination that follows a simmilar structure like the Eastern Orthodox or Anglican Churches...

The Catholic Church as an institution wasn’t and isn’t that bad as you were probably brainwashed by the left to think. I am Eastern Orthodox and I believe a strong church is vital for christianity. Also we are not saved by the grace of God and faith alone. Faith without deeds is dead, even Jesus said something like “Not everyone who comes at me saying Lord, Lord,… will inherit the kingdom of heaven”. We Eastern Orthodox didn’t change any tradition and our denomination is almost if not identical with early Christianity. I visited many types of Churches, and the Catholic and Protestant ones feel empty, while the Orthodox ones feel warm and welcoming because the Holy Spirit is way more present here. Atheists who have went to the most sacred place of Orthodoxy, Mt Athos have witnessed many miracles done by some of the monks there and most of them came from there completely changed.

I hear this a lot. "we don't know their heart, so we can't know anything" or something like that. Um, yes. Yes, we can know. We can recognize that fascism and communism are evil and that the people perpetuating those ideologies are serving evil. No human is inherently evil, ofc. God's creation is good. But it is about the question: "Whom do you serve?"
Christianity is the religion of love and of life. Leftism and its ilk are the religions of death. If someone isn't following the principles of Christianity, that's not a difference of opinion. Christianity is a specific thing and there are things that it cannot be.

When you mention pain and happiness, I think of the pleasure principle. Do you advocate for this principle?
At the end, you appear to be attributing purpose in the search of truth. If not for the pleasure principle, what purpose does truth serve? If for the pleasure principle, how do we serve both the natural order and our sources of happiness - unless they are the same.

There's a lot up in the air here. Christianity and Conservative aren't really the same, and not all people actually care about what it should really mean to be either or both. I don't like many republicans/politicians and I would say I'm conservative leaning on most moral issues.
      A) Get them to understand that truth is important
B)Convince them that people can't be different genders or species, but it's ok to pretend in the proper settings. The main reason leftists accept that behavior is because they see it as non-conformist practices that upset general societal norms.
      C) Tell them honest conversation and dialogue are the ways you bridge gaps. Focus on similarities, not differences.
      D) Find high quality contributors that you can expose them to that generally are very honest and charitable, that tend to steelman instead of strawman opposing views. Like, I don't agree with Zoomer on his Reformed beliefs and tendency toward certain traditionally Christian practices, but I appreciate his honesty and pursuit of truth and see theological/philosophical differences as minor in the scheme of things, so I'm willing to watch his content, even if I disagree with parts of it.
      E) Real Christians are a great bet for good people. Ones that embrace that we all sin but are willing to point it out and point out that we have a savior that cares for them. Culturally progressive churches are no good, they sacrifice what the word says because they are people focused first, not God. People focused is good, but it should be Godly and biblical first.

A liberal is not a leftist, and Mr Zoomer you were never a "leftist", the position you found yourself in is rooted deeply in the right, in America it might be called Leftism but being anti-gun, being pro-abortion etc. is not inherit to the left. The right believe heavily in individual liberty which included reproductive freedom, etc.
I as a Left-Catholic follow in the mindset of the late Dorothy Day, recognized by the Pope as one of the four great Americans and was a passionate Marxist. I hold firm that the teachings of Christ are not the same as the words of a mid century German economist, and I find it blasphemous when people call Christ, label Him as any political ideology as He is wholly defined within scripture.
Anyway, you were never a leftist unless you believed that the working class should own the means of production and that "class" is the great divider. If you were a leftist you'd recognize that the social division between classes is our greatest tragedy, that no society can be righteous, can claim to do good, in the name of God, or anything else when one group of people are born into a higher tier of living.

Can we all as a society recognize the difference between the economic left-right and progressive-conservatism, please?
~ A conservative socialist (who actually read the Marx stuff)
For reference: The idea that the word "liberal" is associated with progressiveness and leftism would only have made sense about two centuries ago, when the liberal movement was your second option as opposed to an absolute monarch, but has never been associated with leftism (socialism(/communism)), since leftism/socialism(/communism) only came about as a reaction of the laborers to the liberal bourgeoisie. The idea that liberal and progressiveness are the same has to do with the fact that, for the people in the bourgeoisie, the Johns of our world, could gaim more freedom via the movement "liberalism", and by using the term to group both leftism and progressiveness, an entire category of people is left out: those who believe in more traditional social values ánd who believe that (for example) homelessness caused by the bourgeoisie exploiting workers is bad, and generally treating our poor better than we do now is a good thing.

I will add that some of the points you made on "leftists" (progressive people/woke people/certain members of the LGBT community), especially how their whole idea of tolerance doesn't make sense are quite good, I'm just here to defend my fellow socialists.

If anyone sees this, i am a Muslim apostate turn atheist for 10+ years, and I want to convert to Christianity, however I am lost as to which denomination to follow, seeing how I am from Syria, I was wondering if I should go with oriental orthodoxy or catholic, I am lost on that part and the last thing I want is to walk into a religion just to disrespect it I contacted a catholic priest who was a very inviting and kind person however again the last thing I want is to be wrong or disrespectful about the religion I want to follow, I am all ears to every advice and pointers thanks

Pick up a bible and start reading at the New Testament. That's more important than attending a church.
After you've finished the New Testament and hopefully heard the gospel, then start seeking a church. I don't recommend orthordox nor catholic due to their soteriology, which is their teaching regarding salvation, because it's very misguided relative to many protestant churches (not all).
If you really must go to a church, I suppose the baptist church might be a good start purely because they place a lot of emphasis on scripture.

I think it's just a common slang. I do the same with the word bro, I've literally called children bro. It just comes out sometimes. For me it's not about the words, it's about the message. To each their own. I have similar issues with people who constantly use the word like, between every other word.
