  • We decided to join friends on one of Butlins Big Weekenders.
We were shocked by the standard of the accommodation and the overall state of the resort. Butlins advertise their comfort apartments as home from home but I ask you to judge for yourself. We did try and upgrade once we saw the state of the accommodation but Butlins said nothing was available or did they try and resolve our concerns raised.

First time we went, we had a comfort plus. We had pubes in the sink, among other things. Last time we went for the rooms. Crappy as hell, but to be fair you sort of expect it for the price. Butlins is the kwik save of holidays, we all know that, but dirty is unacceptable. The best acommodation we had out of the three times we went was the gold apartment, but even that wasn't what you'd expect for 'gold'. I came away with the 'Butlins bug'. Nice dry hacking cough. Lovely.

We were there for the same weekend, and had a standard room in the blocks featured in your video around the 6:30 mark. They were OK though ... once we'd got over the initial shock!

I think we needed more alcohol to blur it! It's certainly not how Butlins advertises the accommodation.

Basic should still be in good condition

To be honest, if you think that your accommodation is not up to scratch, complain to the staff. They will help in anyway they can. I don't mean to be rude, but do you clean UNDER YOUR SOFA?!

We did and offered to pay to upgrade but they said they were full and was nothing they could do.

@@midlifetravels That's not their fault, tbh.
