      😆 we do that at work. A case of T4 Rotella as an example, we're charging customers 2 or even 3 times what they can get it off the shelf. 2 customers next to each other get the exact same Quaker State 5w30 Syn Blend and get charged a different price per gallon between the 2 places.

    When I was a teenager there would be a guy selling craftsman sockets, ratchets, and other tools at the local flea market. His entire gig was buying the giant craftsman mechanics set that would be on sale at Sears, and then splitting it up and selling it piece by piece at the I85 flea market.

    It doesn't matter what he sold his for or what you paid for your set. What matters is that it's a free market and one man's profit shouldn't be any less that the others. You are the tuner that has customers come to your shop. Should you troubleshoot and quote a price your standard shop rate or should you quote the price of the south side tuner that's 20% less and he has his wife throw in a hand job and a ham sandwich? We all love ham sandwich and I'd bet there's a few that likes the hand job! But sometimes quality is cheaper regardless of what the other guy throws in. Damn I'm hungry now, wonder if the Ole Lady will get pissed if I wake her and tell her to get to the kitchen? 🤣🤣🤣

    This is just an impossible question for folks like you who work on cars frequently. There's really no true answer, but consider this... How much will that set make you? How much will it save you headache? How well does it work for you? That's the true determination of value, not just what it cost. Sometimes we buy things that are super expensive, just to make life easier and it's worth it's weight in gold because we don't have to struggle or we can save time.

    Crazy how you were happy paying, 280 before knowing the guy got the kit for free, pretty much just greed

    He won them and sold the set he didn't want to keep. Doesn't matter if you got a good deal.

    Maybe not tactful of the seller, but it's not a "joke on me", you didn't get ripped off. You got exactly what you paid for, the sellers profits or losses are none of you concern.

    There is nothing wrong with selling "free" stuff to people willing to pay money for it. Isn't that what EBAY is for?

    Harbor freight has that same thing from Pittsburgh and its twenty bucks. They are strong impact sockets that snap on can't make any better. Now you can feel screwed

    • @paulberkoben7435
      @paulberkoben7435 Před rokem

      There more to a good socket then the material it's made out of take a HF socket and snap-on socket and lightly twist it on bolt or nut that snap-on socket has way less play that the difference between a good tool and bad beside the material it's made from

      @@paulberkoben7435 have had a Pittsburg half inch metrical a and SAE impact sets at a busy boat shop for years. Only problem we have ever had was the guys not puting them back where they belong. They are thick strong and stout and sizes fit spot on. There are lots of corroded crappy wet hardware on boats and trailers never an issue. 40 bucks for both sets or 700 for the same snap on. no question about that choice

    This is the way ressellers are doing their money with Milwaukee/DeWalt etc.. power tools. They buy kits on sale and then split them. You get batteries and tools at a better price than in store. And when they are done selling all the parts they made money.
