😆 we do that at work. A case of T4 Rotella as an example, we're charging customers 2 or even 3 times what they can get it off the shelf. 2 customers next to each other get the exact same Quaker State 5w30 Syn Blend and get charged a different price per gallon between the 2 places.
When I was a teenager there would be a guy selling craftsman sockets, ratchets, and other tools at the local flea market. His entire gig was buying the giant craftsman mechanics set that would be on sale at Sears, and then splitting it up and selling it piece by piece at the I85 flea market.
I know a guy that came across a full train cart full of broken (warrantied) Craftsman tools. He literally shoveled broken tools into his and his buddies trunk and warrantied them all again. 😂
It doesn't matter what he sold his for or what you paid for your set. What matters is that it's a free market and one man's profit shouldn't be any less that the others. You are the tuner that has customers come to your shop. Should you troubleshoot and quote a price your standard shop rate or should you quote the price of the south side tuner that's 20% less and he has his wife throw in a hand job and a ham sandwich? We all love ham sandwich and I'd bet there's a few that likes the hand job! But sometimes quality is cheaper regardless of what the other guy throws in. This is just an impossible question for folks like you who work on cars frequently. There's really no true answer, but consider this... How much will that set make you? How much will it save you headache? How well does it work for you? That's the true determination of value, not just what it cost. Sometimes we buy things that are super expensive, just to make life easier and it's worth it's weight in gold because we don't have to struggle or we can save time.

It’s not just the quality but also the convenience, most tech don’t the time to run to the store every time you need a tool , or warranty one. The tools trucks show up almost every day and keep you making money.
Recently I noticed Snap-On has more than one grade for sale. They actually have cheesy tool boxes that come all dented up via UPS and they weigh less than half what my 40 year old box weighs.
Be glad you didn't have little bricks inside that box. Remember the stories of 2 guys in a Van that claimed they cleared out a Stereo Store's Inventory of $1000 Speakers, but will sell them to you for $300, and had filled the boxes with bricks.
My room mate got hit with this scam & totally fell for it. I think he was told they were $4000 speakers & he paid like $600-800 back in ~2003. He got them home & there were speakers inside, but they were probably only worth $25-30 each.

i like my kobalt 1/2 deep sockets there 10-25 it cost me 70 bucks and i have abused them the 19mm socket has been hammered onto all sorts of things including what was a 21 lug at one time with a sledge good socket.

Don’t abuse your tools and they last longer.

Harbor freight has that same thing from Pittsburgh and its twenty bucks. They are strong impact sockets that snap on can't make any better. Now you can feel screwed
There more to a good socket then the material it's made out of take a HF socket and snap-on socket and lightly twist it on bolt or nut that snap-on socket has way less play that the difference between a good tool and bad beside the material it's made from

They are thick strong and stout and sizes fit spot on. There are lots of corroded crappy wet hardware on boats and trailers never an issue. 40 bucks for both sets or 700 for the same snap on. no question about that choice
This is the way ressellers are doing their money with Milwaukee/DeWalt etc.. power tools. They buy kits on sale and then split them. You get batteries and tools at a better price than in store. And when they are done selling all the parts they made money.
