"It's a Compton thing, Late Night Hype,One Time Gaffled Em Up" but you can't go wrong with any pick. That interlude of "just the way you like it" on "It's a Compton Thang" is soooo dope.
I agree. CMW is one of my favorite groups so its hard to choose a favorite. I just let the whole album roll. Eiht and Chill kind of a west coast EPMD on this album, but completely original.

First and last album that included The Chill as a full time member of CMW One Time Gaffled Em Up Final Chapter I Mean Biznez DJ Slip murdered that album. I still got the OG vinyl and OG blue cassette tape.
The production on this album is extra tite and all the songs hit hard. That being said my 3 favorite songs are: I'm Wit Dat Late Night Hype It's A Compton Thang
I think parallels can be made between EpMd’s “Strictly Business” and this album. Sonically you have a duo who worked well together with production that helped differentiate them from their peers debuts. CMW’s production on this album is a large part of why I enjoy this album. Eiht and Chill were young and hungry... much like Erick and Parrish. Both albums had a little of everything, topically so it was one tone or note.
They admitted they were influenced by EPMD so they were like a west coast version of them.If Chill wouldn't have gone to prison I wonder how different those albums would've sounded with both of them goin hard
Much of EPMD's initial success stems from the popularity of their debut in West Coast hoods. Eiht has stated his love for Strictly Business as one of his favorites in a previous interview with Soren I believe. In '88 Eazy Duz It and Strictly Business were mad popular amongst the gangsters.
This all makes sense now. I always felt that EPMD influenced the West Coast sound like crazy due to their sampling of guys like Roger Troutman, Rick James, and Parliament/Funkadelic. No West Coast rapper was sampling George Clinton like that before EPMD.
Man, you done came with a str8 classic on this one!! I used to bump this religiously, still do. I remember i bought the regular tape at first, only to find out it was censored. So i had to go back and get the blue, uncensored one, lol. So hard to pick top 3 off this one, because i liked every track. If i had to pick though....This Is Compton, Rhymes Too Funky, One Time Gaffled Em Up.

First 3 CMW‘s are all classic i think, wasn‘t really feeling the eith solos, too much geahs all over all cd‘s but i still bought em. From last man standing i wasn‘t down no more, last man standing was the first really wack album to me then. The ones before where cool besides the geahing lol.😂

This is a stone cold classic with tracks that still hold up like a mfer sonic wise. A few points: 1. The real ones had the blue tape. 2. This is one those that dudes with systems in Southern California used to bump. This probably heavily influences my picks. Top 3: I'm Wit Dat- A production masterpiece.. the drums, the "Joy" sample, the DOC sample in the chorus that just came out the previous summer and was everything, the ill scratching which you stopped hearing on later gangsta rap songs, Chill with the laid back flow, sounds sensational in the ride ... I don't know how you leave this off your top 3....this is the real deal. It's A Compton Thang-There's a reason this is the title track. Sick production with the Mtume and SOS samples. One Time Gaffled Em Up - The lead single, JB horns, Yellowman bsssline, classic.

Gotta go with the opening track as it sonically starts the album off with that dope beat that sets the laid back style with the Eiht delivery. Late Night Hype and Duck Sick round out the top 3. I remember being so high driving around with the homie when this came out and the way the scratching on Duck Sick goes back-and-forth between channels always tripped me out. Still got my blue tape that has a scotch tape splice fixer haha played the fuck outta this

I bought that cassette brand new and I didn't play it until 6 months later because I also had got the Ice Cube and Public Enemy cassettes.... My cousin wrecked my car bang and something off that CM dub so I didn't play it for another 9:10 months after the fact

The original prise is printed in to the Oby trice bud that price is to good to be thru it have an price of:1000,200 Yen its about 7 us dollars .
