It's sad that Ryu is such a weak character in this game. He does have big damage, but to do anything worth the fight, he needs to spend meter, and go for suboptimal routes until he can (hopefully) dump everything to close the round. He gives the player a lot more trouble to achieve the same things other character achieve easily, and that's a sign that he needs to be further tinkered with.
