Watch the first round of the video and count how many touches from Zangief killed Akuma. He's a glass Cannon meaning high damage with very low health. Just one EX-spd took away 40% of his health in a single strike if you were paying attention. With other characters it's easier for Akuma to take hits because of their moderate damage but against Grapplers like Zangief and Marissa, Akuma would easily die in 2 touches. 😅 Daigo has no choice but to use fireballs to keep Zangief out because despite his slow walk speed he still has Drive Rush and Parry to close the distance and force plus frame Command Grabs. Plus the Gief player will be less concerned with jumping in because of Akuma's DPs. Sure it looks boring to watch but what do you expect either player to do in neutral? 🤷 In high level Street Fighter, Footsies win matches. You have to understand how to play all styles (fast or slow) of different characters and not just executing flashy combos. 😏

As opposed to Vega?

Could argue that anybody with fireballs are using weapons too. They’re projectiles

Feeling the same way. I was hoping that the season 2 patch would bring a bit more diversity into match ups and that we’d see more of the characters we didn’t see before, but outside of the couple of exceptions (the Lily winning a major for example) at hand, it’s mostly the same, and Akuma everywhere. The Akuma hype is overstaying his welcome, especially since honestly, he’s really cool but not THAT interesting to watch.

@@Dev_Astral I would say give it some time, by like the 4 Week things should probably settle, I can see Aki and Lily for sure being bigger problems to deal with than season 1... I'm more so looking forward to the next batch of characters

Oh yeah thankfully it won’t last forever. The new characters, if the leaks are correct, are going to be pretty damn interesting, I’m especially curious about Vega. I just wish they waited a bit with Sakura but I feel we have enough shotos for the time being, but that’s just me I reckon

Marisa and Zangief can end the match vs. Akuma very quickly. In seconds literally. It comes down to the skill of the player

since sf4? lol since sf2. if people don’t understand or care for the concept of zoning, then they don’t care for street fighter. there are other games like tekken that may suit them more.

Truly. If you dont use your projectiles against grapplers you are just not playing the matchup correctly and intentionally playing into their hands

It’s always been effective, I just can’t think of anyone who actually enjoys watching fireball spam. I blame Capcom for not giving grapplers enough tools to close distance or for reflecting projectiles.
