  • Gazelles and Giraffes and Warthogs, oh my! Africa is the next stop on this animal-filled Adventures In Golf, presented by United. Erik travels to Hans Merensky Hotel and Spa in Phalaborwa, South Africa bordering Kruger National Park, to play a golf course that lets the wildlife roam free.
The main rule of safari golf is you shouldn’t be on the course at dusk. Guess where Erik finds himself at dusk… Thankfully, no Eriks were harmed in the making of this episode, and the payoff is pretty sweet.

Thank you so much for this Anders. This is the place I started playing golf, I was stationed at the military base close by and this is where we spent our sports pass time. By the way, they used to charge us 50c (South African) to play. Spent many a time watching hippo and crocs on the 17th. Now I am in the UK and on my local course the wildlife (apart from the members) consists of Geese, Squirrels and the occasional Deer.

Seems to me more like the AiG team just came too soon. It's the weather that makes the course hard to keep up, not the people working there. South Africa can't control the weather, but Eric and the rest of the team could have just waited a couple weeks to come.

I love it when the European Tour visit Leopard Creek which also borders the Kruger National Park. One green next to the river is much higher than the river and the players look out and there are elephants, hippos, crocs, giraffes etc down below them. Obviously there are leopards too but they tend not to be there during the day. Its a beautiful tournament to watch but that course is not on my bucket list !! Great film Erik & Stu, what an experience

A few horrible shots and a few that really made me smile, golf really is a great way to spend your day. Out in nature chasing that beautiful shot, a great part of life. Very cool-too bad the course cannot be kept in real playable condition. Love the putt you hit, watching it hit little pebbles or..something. Funnier not retrieving the ball from the "hole". Who could blame you. I would love to go there just to see the animals. No question most dangerous would be hippos and/ or crocs. I have encountered crocs(yes crocs not gators)on the courses in Cancun, Mexico. It's amazing how white their teeth were, as when basking in the sun they often do so with the mouths agape. First time checking out this YT channel. BTW-nice swing-you obviously are a very good player.

I was told pretty much all courses in the US have similar turf and scenery.
Courses like Merensky,Leopard Creek, and a bit of Sun/Lost City offer something of a different feel altogether.
